For residents of California, particularly in the Inland Empire, choosing Jan's Tropical Fish is a great decision for several compelling reasons. The primary one is the value of specialization. In a hobby as intricate and sensitive as keeping fish, buying from a dedicated tropical fish store is far superior to buying from a general pet store. The animals are more likely to be healthy, and the products are specifically curated for aquatic needs. The quarantine advice given in a customer review, while a personal suggestion, also hints at the serious nature of the hobby and the kind of knowledgeable clientele the store attracts.
The exceptional customer service and in-depth knowledge provided by the staff are also a major draw. You are not just buying a product; you are gaining access to a wealth of experience and advice that can make the difference between a struggling tank and a thriving aquatic ecosystem. Furthermore, by choosing this small, local business, you are supporting a cornerstone of the community and helping to preserve a specialized, hands-on resource for fellow enthusiasts. The convenience of its location and modern payment options make it an easy choice, but it’s the combination of quality, expertise, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes Jan's Tropical Fish truly worth choosing.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Jan's has been my go to for quick aquarium needs for years. They have a great selection of freshwater and saltwater fish and inverts. Generally they always have some rare/obscure offerings as well. Tons of dry and frozen food options and good prices. They also have RODI and premixed saltwater available.
July 15 · Trent HagedornI stop in every once in awhile when I'm in the area. You will need to quarentine any stocking you get from there before adding to your main tanks. Shop is clean and well stocked for its size. Live plant section is very small but it is there. Employees always willing to help. Have a decent selection of variety of freshwater and small selection of saltwater fish. I am fortunate to live closer to CK, and while I recognize not every LFS can be or is a CK, this is not bad for what it is.
August 12 · Sumin YiBeen going here for years. Never had a problem till the other day. Me and my fiance purchased 12 fish, 5 shrimp, a couple of driftwood pieces, and plants. Spent $220 for everything. Had our tank all set up for 2 days fully filtered at home . Everything was fine til the next morning. Every single fish was dead. Never have we had that many fish die on us. We called and they told us to bring a sample of the tank water, we did and nothing was wrong with it. As ne and my fiance were trying to discuss with the main guy our situation and what could we do to move forward he kept cutting us off not wanting to hear anything that wasn't from his own mouth. Told us he lost 5 fish of his own fish as well because he rushed and put the fish in the tank too early (he seen it as his mistake was our same mistake, when it wasn't). When trying to tell him we had this tank filtered for 2 days he just wouldn't listen. He refused our refund and he refused to replace the fish.He was only willing to give us a discount on our next purchase. Even petsmart has a refund policy for fish. This place is very unprofessional and ripped us off $180 dollars worth of fish. Very unhappy with how they treat their loyal costumers.
March 19 · Natasha CantuI came across this location a few months back. 2 weeks ago I purchased a panda oranda which I was happy. other shops in the area didn't have a good selection of Orlanda's. I came back for a third time today to purchase some fish food and a power filter. The staff was very knowledgeable on what exactly I needed. this is definitely my new to go spot.
August 09 · Ronnie RI wish I could rave about this store, but something has changed since we last visited. Although they carry an expensive variety of tropical and fresh fish species, the store itself smelled like there were filtration problems throughout the store, and my daughter even stepped on a small long fish that was already laying dead on the floor. Most of their colorful shrimp varieties were dead in the tanks. I would still shop here if things improved. Oh, and navigating the aisles is almost impossible for me sometimes as I use a walker and there are always obstacles like step ladders and buckets in each aisle preventing me from viewing the fish. Needs improvement!
