Petco Introduce
For pet owners in Minnesota, the name Petco is a familiar one, often associated with a convenient and vast selection of products for every type of animal. The Petco location at 14051 Aldrich Ave S in Burnsville, MN, serves as a central hub for the local pet community, offering not only a wide array of supplies but also a variety of in-store services designed to support the health and well-being of your furry, finned, or scaled friends. From dog and cat essentials to specialized aquatic and reptile supplies, this store aims to be a one-stop-shop for the diverse needs of pets in the Twin Cities south metro area.
The store's primary focus is on providing a comprehensive shopping experience. The aisles are stocked with everything a pet owner could need, from a wide selection of premium pet foods and treats to engaging toys, comfortable bedding, and essential accessories. For those with a love for aquatic life, the aquatics department is a standout feature, offering a broad range of fish, tanks, and supplies to help both beginner and experienced hobbyists create and maintain a healthy aquarium. Similarly, the store caters to owners of birds and small animals, providing a variety of cages, food, and enrichment items.
Beyond retail, the Burnsville Petco is known for its range of in-store services that address key aspects of pet care. These services often include full-service dog grooming, professional dog training classes, and even vaccination clinics. The grooming salon is staffed by certified pet stylists who offer services from basic baths and nail trims to full-service haircuts. They follow a comprehensive process that includes a seven-point Pet Care Check to ensure the pet's well-being before a service begins. The dog training programs focus on positive reinforcement to help pet parents build a strong bond with their dogs, while the vaccination clinics provide an accessible option for essential preventative care like microchipping and vaccinations.
However, recent public reviews have highlighted some significant concerns related to the store's services and facility standards. A customer shared a distressing experience with the grooming salon, where their dog's nails were cut too short, resulting in bleeding. The customer's attempt to seek accountability and a resolution was met with a lack of communication from management and a shift in responsibility, which left them feeling unheard and frustrated. Another review expressed concern over the cleanliness and upkeep of the public restrooms, describing them as "disgusting" and "filthy," with broken amenities. These incidents, while not reflective of every customer's experience, are a reminder for pet owners to exercise due diligence and clear communication, especially when entrusting a pet to any third-party service.

What is worth choosing Petco? The primary draw is the sheer convenience of a large retail store that also offers in-house services. For a pet owner who needs to pick up food, a new toy, and get their dog's nails trimmed all in one trip, Petco's model is appealing. The store’s vast inventory and the presence of trained specialists in areas like grooming and training make it a seemingly ideal solution for a variety of pet care needs. The national brand recognition also provides a sense of familiarity and reliability for some customers.
However, the worthiness of choosing Petco also depends on the specific service you are seeking and the importance of accountability and customer service. The reviews, particularly the one regarding the grooming incident, raise important questions about communication and problem resolution at a local management level. The cleanliness issues also point to a potential lack of attention to facility maintenance. For pet parents, the decision comes down to weighing the convenience of a one-stop shop against the importance of a personalized and highly communicative service, especially when it comes to the safety and well-being of their pets. It is a place that offers a broad range of options, but customers may need to be prepared to advocate for their pet and their concerns should an issue arise.

Petco Reviews
Took my dog to get groomed on 7/22/25. Nails were cut so short exposing the wick. Notice a lot of blood on my seat as we left the location called back to ask what happened as I was not informed of the incident. When trying to reach out and discuss the problem staff and management did not take account for it and tried to blame it on me walking my dog 25 feet from the door to my car. Beware of a company that says the pride on your pets safety and well being when they can’t even take accountability for there actions. Still have yet to find a resolution. All the manger could say was take them to the vet and that’s how they will determine if they will take actions or not.Did receive a call the next day from the groomer. Still not the manager who I was told would be contacting me. Employee did admit what happened but then tried to reiterate why i was not told. Then after being transferred to a manager the narrative changed and they had no idea what i was talking about . Even after there employee said it did happen. I was yet again told my concerns would not be listened to unless I had a vet statement blaming them. Worst ever experience !!!!
August 01 · EmilioThe bathrooms are totally disgusting, nasty things all over the walls, toilets are dirty and sinks are filthy and the soap dispenser is completely broken! Not sure how anyone is cleaning their hands. I felt disgusted as I left the bathroom as if I came out dirtier than when I went in. It doesn’t seem like anyone is on the cleaning duty or anyone cares about the upkeep. The toilet covers sheets that were provided seemed wet and in a mess. This place need a complete makeover.
July 30 · Alajah FieldsAnimal abuse is a crime, 100$ a piece for these skinny pigs when they are on deaths door. Shop AND adopt reputable, absolutely disgusting behavior from a store that should know better and have higher standards. These guinea pigs should be at a vet not for sale. And the water isnt even reachable its touching the ground fire the manager(s) who let this happen
August 18 · BeckyWe’ve used their grooming service for the last 3 years and while the team working there is great- their services have significantly gone up in price AND the last two times they’ve needed to keep our dog for 5 hours to complete the grooming instead of the 3-4 hours they communicate at drop off. It’s disappointing to watch the price continually rise and the timeliness of service diminish. We are exploring new places to take our dog.
August 09 · Andrew ClasenI had made an appointment on the prior day around 10 am to have an 8 am grooming for today and when I showed up they had no stylists available. They had their trainee and they were nice but the manager they had on did not even come apologize or anything. Just sucked we woke up early and drove 20 minutes prior to work to be told no one was there. The trainee (Kali I think?) and other staff were very nice and helpful.
