Pete’s Pet Supply Introduce
For California pet owners, entrusting the care of their beloved animals to a local business is a significant act of trust. Pet shops and grooming services are essential parts of our community, but the quality of service can vary widely. Pete’s Pet Supply, a small business located in Los Angeles, has received public feedback that raises important questions for prospective customers. This article is written to provide a factual and informative overview based on available public data, helping local users navigate their choices for pet care. It is essential for pet owners to have all the information they need to make decisions that are in the best interest of their animals’ well-being.
A dog’s well-being during a grooming session or a quick visit to a pet supply store is paramount. A positive experience can make a pet comfortable and happy, while a negative one can be a source of stress and potential harm. The reviews available for Pete’s Pet Supply highlight some deeply concerning experiences related to both service quality and customer interactions. One customer described a disastrous grooming session for their mini schnauzer, noting a "horrible poodle haircut," an unpleasant smell, and even "small cuts on his mouth." The pet was also reportedly "scared" upon pick-up, which is a major red flag for pet owners.
Beyond the grooming concerns, the customer service aspect has also been called into question. Another reviewer recounted an incident where their dog's nails were cut, causing bleeding, and the owner allegedly dismissed their concerns. The same review mentioned an instance where the owner was too busy socializing to help a customer, and when prompted, responded with a remark that was both unhelpful and insensitive. These accounts, while from a small sample of the public, provide a stark counterpoint to the idea of a simple, quick visit, and point to significant potential issues that any local pet owner should be aware of before choosing this establishment.
Pete’s Pet Supply is located at 2828 N Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90031, USA. This places the small business in a neighborhood setting, making it a potentially convenient stop for residents in the immediate area. The store's information states that it is a small business that offers on-site services.
The location is noted to have a wheelchair-accessible car park and a wheelchair-accessible entrance, which is a positive feature ensuring that the store is open and available to customers with mobility needs. The store is also set up for a quick visit, and it accepts credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments, which are all convenient features for a customer on the go. These practical elements of the business operation are important to note, but they must be considered alongside the more serious concerns raised by public reviews.
Based on the provided information and customer reviews, Pete’s Pet Supply operates as a pet shop offering on-site services. The primary services discussed in the reviews are:
- Dog Grooming: The store offers grooming services for dogs, including haircuts, nail trimming, and teeth brushing, as mentioned in customer feedback.
- Pet Supplies: The business functions as a pet shop, which would typically include the sale of pet food, toys, and other essential supplies, such as bird food mentioned in a review.
While the general availability of these services is noted, the quality and professionalism of their execution, particularly in grooming, has been publicly criticized. A customer's experience of their dog’s nails being cut to the point of bleeding is a significant concern that any pet owner should take into consideration.
The public information about Pete’s Pet Supply highlights a few key features that are important for local users. However, these features are significantly overshadowed by the negative customer experiences.
- Accessibility: The store offers a wheelchair-accessible car park and entrance, making it physically accessible to all customers.
- Payment Convenience: The acceptance of various payment methods, including credit cards and mobile payments, provides convenience for shoppers.
- Small Business Identity: The business identifies as a small business, which for many people is a positive trait, signaling a local, neighborhood-focused operation. However, the reviews suggest that this small business does not always provide the personal, caring service one might expect.
- Negative Customer Reviews: The most prominent feature of the public data is the deeply negative feedback. Accounts of poor grooming results, a dog being scared, and a pet being injured during a nail trim are serious red flags. A review also notes poor customer service from the owner, describing them as rude and unhelpful.

For a California resident, choosing a pet care provider is a decision that should be based on safety, trust, and quality. Based on the public information and the provided customer reviews, Pete’s Pet Supply presents a complex choice. While the store offers the convenience of being a small, local business with on-site services and modern payment options, the serious negative feedback about the quality of care and customer service cannot be ignored.
The accounts of a dog suffering from a bad haircut, a pet being scared, and another's nails being cut to the point of bleeding are major concerns that directly impact a pet's health and emotional well-being. Furthermore, the descriptions of the owner's rude and unhelpful behavior raise questions about the overall professional environment of the business. In light of these issues, a cautious approach is highly recommended. Pet owners should weigh the convenience of the location against the potential risks to their pet's safety and happiness. In this case, the decision of what is "worth choosing" is a personal one, but it is one that should be made with a full understanding of the public feedback, which suggests that other options, such as the one mentioned by a customer who preferred a trusted groomer elsewhere, may be a safer and more reliable choice for your beloved pet.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am finally rating this place after 3 years or so. I came here to get my dog groomed since a few people said they were good and was half the price I normally paid. I should have known it wasn't going to be ok for my dog. He is a mini schnauzer. They left him looking like a horrible poodle haircut. He smelled like he was put in a cage of guinea pigs. He was scared when I picked up. He had small cuts on his mouth. The haircut was just horrible and uneven. The nails weren't filed. The teeth weren't brushed. I am never taking my baby here again. I'd rather pay the 100 at petsmart with his trusted groomer than bring him here. The picture with a bandana is how he looked after I took him here. The other is how he normally looks. Never ever again
December 03 · Claudia RangelThe owner is a huge prick, I took my dog to get his nails cut and he made him bleed. He didn't care and said we were being dramatic. He reluctantly applied some ointment on my dog's nails to stop the bleeding. Another time, we came to buy bird food and he was too busy talking with someone to ring us up. When we told him if he could attend to us since it was getting too late for us to be outside he said worrying kills us faster, if we're meant to die today there's nothing we can do about it.
December 11 · Francisco SantosI know them for 7 years. They always do a great job Grooming my Yorkies. Good price and very friendly. Highly recommend it.
March 22 · Pedram MInazadJavier is the best. I take my Pomeranian there every two weeks and he does a great job. My puppy smells clean and is very fluffed and most of all he is happy and not scared like he’s been at other places. I love this place.
September 04 · ikarlyBought a bird for $1100 back in April. It’s had diarrhea since I got it. One of it’s toes crosses over the other and it’s beak was overgrown and crooked. It was sold to me as a female but is a male. I took it to the vet the second day I had it. I’ve spent $1,000 at the vet so far trying to figure out what’s up with him. I should’ve left when I saw how dirty the cages were and ruffled the birds feathers were but I felt sorry for the bird. I bought some of the low quality stale food they had to wean the bird onto higher quality and fresh foods but I ended up throwing it away as pieces appeared to be moldy.
