July 25 · Gary KaneI recently moved to a new area and needed a vet that was closer than my privious vet which is now an hour away (we are also from out of state so i was on the hunt to find a new permanent vet). I brought my dog to Animal Health Care of Marlboro because it was the only clinic in the area accepting new patients that also honored PetAssure. My first visit seemed promising, the staff performed a full exam, and I initially had a good impression. However, when I went to check out, their system was down and I wasn’t able to pay. While I completely understand that technical issues happen, I called back for three consecutive days trying to settle the bill. Eventually, I gave my card information over the phone and was told a receipt would be emailed, yet I never received it.Two weeks later, I returned for a cytology appointment. That’s when I was told I had never paid for the first visit, a huge red flag. What happened to my card number if the payment was never processed?Despite my frustration, I paid for both visits during that second appointment. But this time, the experience was totally different. The exam room was visibly dirty, covered in hair and slobber. I should’ve asked to switch rooms, but my dog’s toe was bleeding, and I was focused on getting him treated.Unfortunately, three days later, my dog began coughing. She was later diagnosed with kennel cough, which she likely contracted during that visit. This speaks volumes about the facility’s cleanliness protocols. To make matters worse, I had to follow up six times just to receive the cytology results. I waited eight days before making the first call to give them a fair chance to reach out. Each time, I was told either there was no email on file, or that they’d send the report, only to be told in the next call that they did have my email. The disorganization was maddening. When I asked about treatment for my dog’s paw, they said I’d need a full blood panel to assess her ability to undergo anesthesia. I was then sent a $980 estimate, loaded with unnecessary upcharges like a "senior panel."For reference, my dog is almost 12 and has cushings disease so I get my dog’s full blood work, including cortisol levels, done every six months, and I’ve never paid more than $300, with or without insurance. That was the final red flag. I decided to get a second opinion, and thank goodness I did!!I found a compassionate, honest, and reasonably priced vet who ran the full panel for just $266 and referred me to a specialist. That surgeon explained something Animal Health Care of Marlboro never did: that removing the tumor from my dog’s paw would require fusion or full amputation, a major surgical risk that should have been communicated from the start. On top of everything, I now have to treat my dog for kennel cough because of their facility.Every time I call, I get the runaround. I’ve never experienced this level of disorganization and lack of transparency from a veterinary office. This has been one of the most stressful and upsetting experiences I’ve had as a pet parent.Do not walk—RUN from this clinic. If you're looking for trustworthy, competent, and fair veterinary care, I’d be happy to recommend two local practices that actually put animals and their people first.I give credit where credit is due and I will say Animal Health Care of Marlboro is really good at attempting to cover their tracks and will likely comment something compelling to this review but dont be fooled. Its all lies. I have the cold hard proof and real dr notes/ facts. Do youself a favor and go anywhere but here!
July 17 · Holley KirkerFirst time visit was informative, detailed. Dr Weissman listened to me, very professional and pleasant. Hope to resolve issues with cat. My gut tells I made the right choice for new Vet!
August 20 · PF SandiferThe team took amazing care of my precious baby before, during and after her surgery. This is less than 24 hours after, so she’s a little out of it, but we’re so happy to have her back home and I appreciate the follow up and response from the staff and doctor. Thank you so much!
