Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
For pet owners in New Jersey, providing the best possible care for your animal companion is a top priority. When seeking a veterinarian, factors like convenience, a wide range of services, and a reliable team are all crucial considerations. Banfield Pet Hospital in East Hanover, NJ, aims to meet these needs by offering a full-service animal hospital experience. Located conveniently on a major thoroughfare, this hospital is part of a large national network, which offers both a standardized approach to pet care and access to a variety of services, from routine check-ups to more specialized procedures.
Banfield Pet Hospital operates with a focus on a "preventive-first" approach to pet health. Their services are designed to help pet owners stay ahead of potential health issues, with a strong emphasis on routine vaccinations, annual check-ups, and parasite control. The hospital provides a comprehensive suite of services for dogs and cats, ensuring that most of your pet's health needs can be addressed in one place. They offer everything from vaccinations and dental care to general surgery, all with the goal of keeping your pet healthy and happy throughout their life. The hospital’s philosophy is to make veterinary care accessible and manageable, particularly for those who opt into their Optimum Wellness Plans.
While a large network can offer a wide array of services and a standardized approach, it is worth noting that some customers have voiced concerns about consistency and communication. These points are important to consider for those who may prefer a more personal, small-business feel. As a corporate entity, Banfield operates with specific protocols and procedures, which may differ from the experience at a private, independent practice. However, for those who value the convenience of a larger network, with services like an online portal for records and a national presence, Banfield offers a straightforward option for managing your pet's health. The hospital also strives to be an LGBTQ+ friendly space, aiming to provide a welcoming environment for all members of the community.

What is worth choosing?
For New Jersey pet owners considering Banfield Pet Hospital, it is essential to weigh the potential benefits against some of the challenges that customers have reported. The main reason to choose Banfield is its model of preventive care and accessibility. For pet owners who want a straightforward way to budget for their pet's routine care, the Optimum Wellness Plans can be a compelling option. The hospital provides a one-stop location for many services, from vaccinations and check-ups to more serious diagnostics and surgical procedures. The convenience of a large, national network means that your pet's records are easily transferable between Banfield locations, which can be a significant benefit for people who travel or move frequently.
However, it is crucial to be aware of the experiences shared by some customers. Issues with service consistency, staff turnover, and communication have been raised. Some reviews mention that the hospital can feel impersonal and that the focus on the business model can sometimes overshadow the individual needs of the pet. One customer's account of being told to "wait a super long time" despite a booked appointment highlights a potential challenge with managing appointment flow. Similarly, the concern about the store smelling of "urine and poop" suggests that cleanliness standards may be inconsistent, which could be a concern for some pet owners. While Banfield aims to be a viable option for many, it may be best suited for those who prioritize a structured, comprehensive plan for preventive care over a more personal, long-term relationship with a single veterinarian and who are prepared to navigate potential logistical frustrations. For these individuals, Banfield Pet Hospital could be a functional and accessible choice for their pet's health.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Service is terrible and I felt like a horrible dog mom for even considering bringing my dog here. I was hesitant to go here in the first place because I saw it had not great reviews, but I am new to the area and had used the Banfield in my hometown so I decided to give it a try, and I highly regret my decision!! We scheduled an appointment on the app to get an annual check up , and more heart worm pills. When we arrived, the staff wasn't super nice (from experience if you work at a vet you should like animals and try to help ease their anxiety of being at a vet, greet them, etc.). Then they tried to tell me it was Drop Off appointments only , even though i booked an In Room visit on the app. Then proceeded to tell me if i wanted to do an In Room Visit I'd have to "wait a super long time" and they had no other available appointments. Long story short, I knew I would not feel comfortable leaving my dog here so I left and I will not be coming back. Don't trust this place at all.
September 05 · Gabrielle ScibelliUsed Banfield for almost 16 years thru 2 different dogs. Recently after COVID I noticed things have gone downhill. Every 6mths I go back it's completely different staff, Sundays don't exist, services I request aren't done as well as before -- lots of negatives. 1st time ever in 8 yrs of owning my dog has anyone said anything negative about my dog, apparently after trying to put her in a cage in a way she didn't like, she let them know. Probably due to unskilled staff. The solution was to drug the dog lol. Not going to happen. Cancelled my membership after almost 2 decades. My sister is even a vet at Banfield in California so I tried to stay loyal but the services are now junk. I always get sent home to give my dogs their meds or do a fecal sample. That's what I paid you to do, figure it out. I'm not doing 50% of your job. For years now. Unacceptable. Store always smells like urine and poop too. Sorry Banfield I loved you but it's just too much now. I'll go with a private vet from now on.
May 15 · Al BSo far we are very pleased with Banfield. We were with VCA in Madison, NJ, but when their Care Club price went up once again, we just couldn't continue there. Oddly, Banfield & VCA are both owned by Mars, Inc.
May 14 · Bru LThe staff and vets at Banfield in East Hanover have been great! They have been treating my dog for the past four years.
July 17 · Jacqueline TomczykDistance and location is good. Doctor's are good. Staff fair, as expected but no as above. Expecting more understanding, patience, compassion, informative.I want to add that our beautiful companion Yorkie terrier Bella Perez passed on in March, never received a call from Banfield, my daughter tried several times to contact them when we were struggling with her health issues, unprofessionalism was very low. Appts as a emergency poor, we requested blood work for an emergency surgery kidney stones waited time one week was never performed because we had no choice to look for other options, found a clinic who took blood and noticed Bella needed to get fluids injected. So we went back to Banfield and they refused to do it, they instead told us to take Bella to a hospital, which we did. We took her to Oradell hospital which she was seen and was admitted for test, fluids, all her vitals we're low, she had not only bladder stones but heart and kidney failure. So many years seen by Banfield only on professional lady doctor was the one that noticed her bladder stone of a greater size, weeks before this happened. We did everything in our power to keep up with vaccines, check up years after years, we had since she was a baby, we lost our Yorkie, we had to let her go, we know she was over her years but a lot of things need to be addressed on this situations so ppl be aware and prepared. Our Bela Perez l was everything to us , specially my daughter lost her friend for life, till today we cry. No even one call from them at least to tell my how sorry they're. Or sorry for your loss. The iconic thing is that we're stuck with the insurance for a whole year because they don't let us cancel.
