They had killed my childhood dogs (with parents blessing - NOT mine) and cat - the poor cat suffered with cancer for MONTHS before I was able to try to rescue it to see why he'd lost so much weight - he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer and I paid to have him put down because no one else cared, and he was too old to survive any treatment/surgery so they wouldn't do it anyway. I had adopted a rescue, elderly dog, she was a late spay, so I brought her here for a checkup on her healing and stitches; she then had a salivary gland surgery here a year later. 5 years after adoption, she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I brought her in out of concern, she was given the diagnosis of cancer metastasis, cancer was in her lymph nodes, but she 'overall' looked good - no saying how long she had to live, a week later, at 5 in the morning, she was on my lap, bleeding from her nose and we were rushing down to the Deerfield hospital, to come back with her in a box on the back seat, "If I could Turn Back Time" on the radio, her blood all over my spring jacket. My kid has a cat now, I called to see about an appointment, to help with their first pet as an adult, and was informed that old clients not seen in 3 years are not welcome back. If I heal from my heartache of loss, I'll NEVER give this place the pleasure of seeing a loved one again. I don't have an animal on purpose, I'm not emotionally ready to care for another being.

April 06 · Laurel CopelandAVOID LIKE THE PLAGUEDr. Laurie Schneski, DVM, is one of the kindest, most compassionate, considerate, patient, and understanding veterinarians you will ever meet. She and her entire staff will do everything possible to assist and work with you—except for one person.That person is the older, salt-and-pepper/gray-haired, heavier-set woman who works behind the receptionist’s desk, usually seated to the left. She is all business, with a cold, hard, and impersonal demeanor that can leave you feeling unwanted, undervalued, unappreciated, disregarded, and even disliked or resented. This attitude may not be immediately obvious but will gradually become clear.When you have special needs or communication difficulties with her—especially via email—she becomes increasingly indifferent and cold over time. No matter how many times you plead, explain, or apologize (even when you are not at fault), your requests will be ignored or handled carelessly. She insists on doing things her way, and only her way, leaving you feeling dehumanized and disregarded.You may try repeatedly to explain your needs clearly and calmly, but eventually, your concerns fall on deaf ears whenever she manages the communications. The only perspective that matters to her is her own.When you are faced with terminally ill pets and a crisis—often triggered or worsened by her own behavior—and you attempt to communicate your distress in person, you may be forced into an emotional outburst. Even with a professional assistant present due to disabilities affecting communication or social skills, she will react by portraying herself as the victim, ranting about her own PTSD and dismissing the clients’ feelings entirely.She then manipulates the practice into terminating you as a client because she cannot handle the truth or show compassion for someone pushed into such a crisis. The pets are abandoned to potentially suffer through their final days because of her actions and manipulation of the practice.Following this, you will receive a packet containing your critically ill pets’ records and a cover letter that essentially blames you, while advising you to seek care elsewhere. This is especially cruel when no other accessible care options exist due to your disabilities and difficulties, and when this practice has been your pets’ sole provider for many years.This is total abandonment and rejection.This woman behaves as if she runs the entire practice from behind the receptionist’s desk, controlling everything like it’s her private domain. She has manipulated her superiors into allowing her to undermine, destabilize, or even eliminate the long-term health and stability of clients and their pets—often without realizing the damage she causes.It is truly sad and represents a dangerously misleading and unprofessional liability to the practice, its clients, and their pets.The practice and its clientele would be far better off without her on staff, where she belongs in the unemployment line. She is a liability to the business, its clients, and the long-term well-being of the pets they care for. However, I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Schneski herself to anyone who asks.Unfortunately, it seems you cannot have one without the other, which is another unfortunate deficit in itself.As for the receptionist/assistant described above, I strongly advise everyone considering this practice for their pets’ care to avoid her like the plague, whenever possible.She is a pathetic excuse for a “wannabe professional”—cold, careless, recklessly inconsiderate and insensitive, a narcissistic megalomaniac who projects an aura that makes you feel unwanted, unappreciated, misunderstood, and even unfairly disliked and resented.I will certainly miss the practice, Dr. Schneski, and the rest of her staff, but NOT that one woman. Because of the “packet” we received—delivered through her manipulation of her superiors—my pets and I will now continue to suffer mercilessly through the remainder of their terminal and now untreated illnesses.

The surgery that followed saved his life. Every interaction was professional, compassionate, responsive. The medicalinterventions were expertly performed.
