★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The technicians, vets & receptionist have been great. They treat you & your pet as a valued client. Whenever my dogs have had an unexpected need to see the Vet, they have been accommodating.I've been very pleased with them & plan on continuing to use them for my dogs primary care. I would recommend them to my friends & family.
August 11 · George N***This is my response to Companion's response to my original review on 4/15/25 WHICH I NEEDED TO DELETE TO MAKE ROOM FOR MY RESPONSE.***Justine, I am deeply disappointed by your dishonesty in claiming you did not refuse care for Charlie. You absolutely did. You told me you were sorry, but since I could not pay the $1300+ upfront, there was nothing you could do, and I could not bring him in. I pleaded with you, explaining that Charlie was struggling to breathe, yet you prioritized money over helping him. While I understand that management instructs staff to ensure payment is secured before appointments and prohibits account balances, emergencies should be treated differently. When an animal is in a life-threatening situation, their health and well-being should come first, not whether the bill can be paid immediately. You claimed to be upfront and transparent about the financial strain I might face after the appointment, presenting it as an effort to make me fully aware of the financial burden. In reality, your approach left me with an impossible choice—trying to save my cat’s life or letting him die because of financial constraints. That is both cruel and unacceptable. How dare you even suggest such a thing to me!You and Dr. Jankunas were fully aware of my ability to cover your fees, whether through my personal funds, reimbursements from my insurance policy, grants that BOTH Dr. Jankunas AND I secured for Charlie, or assistance from my family—who have been loyal clients since 1985. Your lack of compassion in this critical moment is absolutely shocking.Charlie was in a critical life-or-death situation, and when I called you from the parking lot at 8:00 a.m., your response should have been, "Bring him in immediately. The vet tech is here and can see him," especially since a doctor was not yet available. Instead, your priority was whether I could pay the bill. Are you going to repeat what Dr. Jankunas told me—that a veterinary technician cannot treat an animal, only a doctor can? Veterinary technicians take an oath, and their Code of Ethics clearly states: "Veterinary technicians shall aid society and animals through providing excellent care and services for animals" and "Veterinary technicians shall prevent and relieve the suffering of animals."This review is not about my previous ten years of experience with Companion Animal Hospital. It is entirely about how Charlie and I were treated on the day he died—particularly when you already knew how ill he was. As I said before, Charlie may or may not have died that day, but if he had been given emergency care when I brought him there at 8:00 a.m., he might have had a chance.***Unfortunately after Charlie was finally seen at Companion and his bill was PAID IN FULL, he needed to be brought to Katonah Bedford Emergency Hospital because he had a lot of blood in his urine and his kidneys were a concern, as well as his rapid breathing deteriorating, I needed to put my sweet, my heart, loving, good boy to sleep. He's finally at rest and no longer suffering from all of his short 4 years of life, constant medical issues. RIP my sweet boy. ***
April 17 · Jennifer PolitoCompanion Pet Hospital has been very good to us, and most accommodating to our travel schedule. We appreciate the flexibility of getting appointments and the care is excellent. Thanks, CR.
July 01 · Chris RohnerCompanion Pet Hospital of Carmel is the BEST! The staff is wonderful, caring, patient and very understanding. I brought my dog Mya to their office (1st time) since my other vet was booked and recommended Companion Pet Hospital to us. Mya wasn't acting herself, not feeling well so Dr. Lecaro did some blood work and unfortunately Mya was anemic and had kidney failure so we decided not to let her suffer anymore and had her euthanized the same day in my arms with my son by my side. Companion Pet Hospital of Carmel is highly recommended by me. They made us feel very satisfied with their services and care. They also sent us a sympathy card with Mya's nose and paw prints and a condolence from each staff member too which made us so glad to keep. When we picked up her ashes a few weeks later, Kim handed my son the bag with respect. Thank you very much to all the staff.
November 21 · Emma VasquezBrought my dog in for a easy procedure. I asked them to trim the nails because they were working on a broken nail. They said we will do all the nails for $70.00.They never trimmed the nails as promised and still charged me the $70.00.I complained and they insisted they trimmed them .I sent them pictures to prove it and never got a response back. $378.00 to cut a broken front paw nail.I won't be back due to their unprofessional attitude.Just saw your response and that's a lie. You told me to send pictures on a email. I got no reply back. You never contacted me once I replied to you with the pictures of the nails never trimmed. You only did the one broken nail. You lied to Discover card. You said you were going to trim all the nails. That $70.00 charge will cost ypu a lot more in the future. Trust me. You rushed me out when I picked up my dog because you were closing and you didn't give me time to check over my dogs nails.
