Creature Comforts Veterinary Service distinguishes itself as a premier choice through its unparalleled combination of expertise, compassion, and a comprehensive range of services. The real-world experiences shared by our clients speak volumes about the quality of care we provide. One pet owner from Syracuse, NY, drove all the way to our clinic in a desperate search for emergency care for their bunny. The successful outcome and the positive feedback on communication and pricing highlight our commitment to both animal welfare and client satisfaction.
The story of the porcupine incident further solidifies our reputation. The willingness of our staff, including Dr. Karen, to return to the clinic late at night to help a dog in distress demonstrates a level of dedication that goes far beyond a standard business transaction. This kind of genuine care and commitment to the animals is the foundation of our practice. The presence of a "sweet kitty" providing emotional support in the waiting room is a small but powerful example of the kind, comforting atmosphere we cultivate.
Ultimately, what makes Creature Comforts worth choosing is our blend of a full-service animal hospital, emergency care availability, and a compassionate, holistic approach. We are a place where every pet, from the smallest bunny to a dog with a painful injury, is treated with the utmost respect and care. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We found ourselves scrambling to find a knowledgeable and available emergency vet for our bunny in GI stasis on a Saturday afternoon in Syracuse, NY. Thankfully we called Creature Comforts and told them our bunny's symptoms and after the go-ahead, we drove down. They were able to treat him successfully, and after 5 days our bunny was well enough to come home! We were very happy with the communication, the charting, the price and the happy outcome. Thank you to your whole team. He's had his follow up with our regular vet and has been doing great since 🙂
August 28 · Rachel KoethDr. Karen and her staff were amazing in helping my dog who came face to face with a porcupine late last night. Dr. Karen had just gotten home and she turned around and came back in to help staff safely remove around two dozen quills from my dog’s face. They were so caring and helpful, there was even a sweet kitty that came out to the waiting room to provide some emotional support ❤️. Thank you to everyone who helped us last night, we are so thankful! *Picture of Gracie in the afternoon before the madness ensued*
July 06 · Alexis BralowI brought my puppy, Eva, to the vet for the first time today for her second vaccines. The receptionists and nurses were all wonderful. Dr. Mary walks in and slams the door and slams her clipboard on the table. She doesn't even say hi to me or my dog. Mind you- this is her 2nd time at the vet and my first time since she is my first dog. Eva was scared already and Dr. Mary made it 100 times worse for her. You would think she would try to build a relationship with a puppy she is going to stab with a needle in a couple minutes. She then goes on to say how bad her biting is. I understand that she did get mouthy but she is only 10 WEEKS OLD and she was obviously scared for the vet since she slammed all the stuff and pushed her away. Of course she's gonna mouth! And I'm going to take her to puppy training courses, but I had to wait for the second round of vaccines before doing so. She even went as far as to put her aggressively on the ground saying she's a "bad toddler" insinuating I have a bad dog. Then, when giving her the vaccine, she missed the first time since she didn't give her proper treatment. The second time she put treats there (which were my own) and pulled at her skin a bit to desensitize and she didn't even yelp. She hurt my puppy the first time she jabbed her with the vaccine. She then gave her an oral injection, pinning her up against the wall causing her to yelp again. Once I stepped in and held her, she took it just fine.I could not even get a word in with Dr. Mary because she talked the whole time. I had so many questions I didn't get to ask because she was in and out of the room so many times and would not stop talking. Also, the breeder gave me "wrong" vet paperwork and I got an attitude for that as well.I am HIGHLY disappointed with how my puppy was treated today at creature comforts. I left there feeling like the worst dog mom, which actually it's my first time as a dog mom so no new mom should ever have to feel that way. Many of my childhood dogs have been to this place and we have NEVER had a bad experience like this one. Creature comforts, fix your staff and train them how to treat animals. This is no way for any animal to be treated, no matter their age.Picture of my sweet Eva at the vet!
July 30 · Julia DeyoungWriting this a couple years later 😂But it’s coming up on my baby girl’s 6th birthday in June and with it fresh on my mind I figured why not!I took my kitty at 9 weeks old to a pop up for some shots at Tractor Supply, my best friend and her family and some other friends have all taken their pets there so I did. Got the shots needed for my 9 week old Piper’s first set of shots and my Tinny’s (1 year at the time) updated vaccines. Took my girls home and everything was fine…until it wasn’t. About 2 days later my poor little Piper was throwing herself out of her litter box, lethargic, not drinking or eating. It all happened so fast, I wasn’t working at the time due to a high risk pregnancy. So I frantically called my son’s father telling him we had to do something, though it was a Sunday and almost everywhere was closed.Let me just say this here now as it’s important further on:Piper wasn’t just a pet when I got her, I lost a child before and during my first pregnancy. The second one being high risk really messed with my PTSD, therefore I got Piper for emotional support. So I find Creature Comforts and I call and explain the best I can with being so upset and scared. 2 hours away from where I lived, we drove because they said they would take us. And I am beyond thankful that they did. However when arriving, I don’t recall the ladies name but she was an older woman, shorter gray hair, definitely the head of it like ran the show. She was who I spoke with first and I was met with: “Well you should have got her shots at 8 weeks old to prevent this.”I got Piper at 8 weeks old and as I couldn’t work I relied on my son’s father (boyfriend at the time) to get paid and when he did we indeed when to a place we entrusted, which I do regret, but got her the shots needed. So only one of two things I found looking into it more after this woman made me feel guilty though I know 110% I was not:1. Kittens can be born with it in their body it can be passed down from the mother2. An animal at the pop up clinic must have had it already and THEIR OWNER did not take the proper precautions, causing my small kitten with a tiny immune system to easily contract it.I left to the car crying after she was basically trying to blame me for that happening to my kitten. Mind you, I was there with my boyfriend but she was only blaming me.Now on from that negative lady:The rest of the staff? Angels. I’m not lying to you, the first who came in to test Piper was straight honest with me on what the most probable outcome would be because of Piper’s age and that wasn’t a good prognosis. And it for sure hurt to hear, but she was kind and told me they would “do everything they could” to help her survive. My kitten was in seclusion there for 2 weeks, I did visit twice though it was 2 hours away and I couldn’t go near her, she wasn’t allowed out of where she was and no one was allowed in. I say very good for being hygienic, and a clinic that operates very well when it comes to containing illnesses and keeping the sick animal and all other animals safe! At least from what I’ve seen.My Tinny eventually was in there too for 1 week. She was older so it didn’t hit her like it did with Piper. Both girls came home, well and happy! Most importantly, Piper survived and what I want to say is thank you, honestly from the bottom of my heart to the staff that day almost 6 years ago, you guys saved my cats life. She gets to celebrate her 6th birthday because you didn’t turn us away and you didn’t give up on her.
April 06 · Tianna ZawickiI took my 3 legged foster fail Hanson there today because he wasn’t acting right. I was able to get a same day appointment. The staff was all amazing. They were able to quickly figure out what was wrong with my baby and helped come up with a plan.
