Middlebury Animal Hospital has taken care of our two GSD pups and our miniature dachshund for a few years. They’ve always been very responsive and gotten us in immediately if necessary. Easy process to refill their meds. I’ve never left feeling like I over paid or feeling frustrated with outcomes. They were knowledgeable and patient when one of our pups had some digestive issues and helped us work through it. Pics related.

Amazing vet care—they got my kitty in for unexpected dental surgery in under a week and he was all back to his normal self within 48 hours. All the staff is so kind and knowledgeable. I love this place and always trust their care!

Our family pets have been clients of Middlebury Animal Hospital for over 30 years and now even our visiting Grand dogs occasionally need local care when visiting. I unequivocally have the highest praise and regard for the folks at this facility. The Veterinarians, Techs and Administrative staff are all professional, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. They have all expertly helped us navigate the joys of kitty and puppyhood, provided valuable and essential guidance for rescues, and were honest, sympathetic, supportive, and compassionate when the time came to say goodbye to our beloved ones. There is a special place in heaven /universe for those who speak and care for the souls that give joy to their humans every single day.

It's a merging of souls, a silent understanding that weaves its way into the fabric of existence. For those of us who have experienced this, the thought of separation, especially in their final moments, is unbearable. This isn't just a review of a veterinary hospital; it's a desperate warning, etched in pain and regret, a cautionary tale for anyone who loves their four-legged companion with the entirety of their being.I would have done anything for her. Her presence was a constant source of warmth, a comforting weight against the cold realities of the world. The road to happiness was paved with her paw prints, each step a testament to our intertwined journey. The thought of a world without her was not just unimaginable; it was untenable. My only solace was the promise of being there, a familiar presence in her final descent. But that promise was shattered.Never, ever entrust your beloved companion to Middlebury Animal Hospital, especially not in their final moments. The memories of those last minutes will haunt me forever, a cruel and unnecessary trauma inflicted upon both of us. What I witnessed was a callous disregard for the sanctity of that final goodbye.The scene replays in my mind, a film loop of horror. I remember the look of fear in her eyes as she was unceremoniously yanked from my vehicle by a nurse whose condescending demeanor belied a disturbing lack of empathy. I, old and grieving, struggled to keep up, clutching her favorite blanket, a desperate attempt to offer some semblance of comfort in the face of the inevitable. But the nurse moved with a speed that seemed deliberately designed to exclude me.All I could see was my dog's terror. My vision blurred with tears, I pleaded for the nurse to slow down, to understand the gravity of the moment. My pleas were ignored. The other staff members watched, silent spectators to this heartbreaking scene, offering no words of comfort, no gestures of compassion.The exam room, what I now consider the executioner's lair, was a cold and sterile space. My paralyzed dog was placed on a metal table covered with a thin, unsettling cloth. She was flailing, her neurological condition robbing her of the ability to control her own body, yet still desperately trying to reach me. When I finally got inside the hospital I lifted her, trying not to break down and cry, and gently placed her on her favorite fleece blanket on the floor, where I could sit beside her, whisper soothing words, and offer the comfort of my touch. It was a final goodbye stolen from me, tainted by the preceding events.All dogs must die; nature can be cruel. But we, as humans, don't have to be. Veterinarians have a sworn responsibility to mitigate that cruelty with compassion and dignity. Middlebury Animal Hospital failed miserably. Shame on them. Shame on every person who witnessed the horror on that day and did nothing. The memory is seared into my mind, a jagged piece of shrapnel that will never heal.Please, if you love your animal with the ferocity I loved mine, be warned. Research your options, advocate for their comfort, and fight for the right to be present and offer solace in their final moments. Don't let your memories be tainted by the callous indifference of a veterinary practice that prioritizes efficiency over compassion. I've been bringing my Ferrets to see DR. DURANT for many years. HE'S GREAT! I've been to all the ferret vets from Essex to Middlebury over the years, and HE IS THE BEST OF THEM ALL! He's #1 on my list!!! The only negatives is he's the only Ferret Dr. at the practice (like most practices), and he's only there certain days of the week. I've had a few emergencies when he wasn't available. And they had NO emergency ferret vet to send me. I called all the other ferret vet practices available, and NO ONE could see my sick ferret. Thing went from bad to worse overnight while I waited for another day in hopes to get my baby into see someone... it wasn't good. But NOW the emergency vet hospital (BEVS) has added a ferret vet within the last year. So, at least I do have somewhere to go if I run into an emergency now. I still highly recommend Dr. Durant for my ferrets, and he also sees other types of animals!!!I just got a puppy, and we got to see Dr. Healey for his first puppy check-up! I absolutely loved her, too. She was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. She was great with my little guy! He didn't even notice that he was getting shots! Lol!
