★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My dogs Lincoln & Penny have been going here for 6 years and I have never had a complaint. All 3 doctors have seen them and never was steered wrong. All the staff members are amazing and caring and make my 2 dogs feel comfortable.
August 30 · Deborah MahonyThe doctors and the staff have gone above and beyond with providing care to our pets and support to us for the past 14 years. We had a long medical journey with our French Bulldog, Mackenzie, who passed away last month. Dr Lynch and Dr Hoffman treated Mackenzie’s health problems so well that her quality of life remained unchanged despite her illnesses.
August 26 · Kimberly BernthMy family has exclusively taken our dog and three cats to the Moriches Hospital For Animals over the years. HOWEVER, after our most recent visit with Dr. Mackonochie, we will never return.I hope anyone considering this hospital for their pet’s euthanasia will read this review first.Unfortunately, my elderly cat Sundrop had become very sick very quickly in the past week. We took her to Dr. Hoffman on Monday, March 10th, and the bloodwork showed that Sundrop’s kidneys were in late failure, guessing she had 1-2 weeks at most left to live. Our family made the very difficult decision to put her to rest before her disease progressed and caused a painful, drawn out death. We scheduled it as soon as possible, two days later. Our sweet kitty Sundrop’s euthanasia took place Wednesday, March 12th at 9:40am under Dr. Mackonochie. Our usual vet, Dr. Hoffman (who is great), was not in at the time our appointment was scheduled. After years of receiving great care from The Moriches Hospital For Animals, we trusted in the new vet. We also have prior experience with euthanasia at this hospital. In 2020, we brought our sick dog Princess (an almost 13 year old cockapoo) in to be put to rest, and we had a peaceful goodbye. She was taken out of the room, given a mild sedative, was brought back in a calm and sleepy state, and then given the final injection at our signal. We took her home to be buried in the blanket we brought her in. It was the best way it could have gone. Our experience with Dr. Mackonochie was nothing like this.If I could do my cat’s euthanasia over again, I would insist for Dr. Hoffman. After Dr. Mackonochie took Sundrop away, I could hear her crying out from the other room (this was even over the pop music their office plays). Dr. Mackonochie and the assistant then brought Sundrop back into our room, and she was struggling to escape against the assistant’s grasp. She was held down on the table. Completely the opposite of our past experience.I asked Dr. Mackonochie if Sundrop had received enough sedative, and I was told that yes she did, and that it was probably her kidneys bothering her.Our Sundrop had barely moved all week, and for her to be suddenly springing up and fighting against the assistant, did not add up. I did not appreciate the lack of communication and compassion I sensed from his response.Although I felt something did not seem right, we continued on with the euthanasia, because I did not want my poor girl to be in distress any longer. FYI - if you choose to take your pet home for a personal burial, we received our Sundrop in a knotted garbage bag, in a casket-shaped taped box. We were not asked our preference. If you want to receive your pet back in something a little more respectful than a garbage bag, be sure to make a specific request before they take your pet away to be cleaned up.In all, our family did not have a good experience with Dr. Mackonochie. I felt there was a lack of communication and respect, and I felt the whole process was rushed.Despite this, we are still very grateful for the care received from Dr. Hoffman, Dr. Lynch, the assistants, and the front desk.I hope my Sundrop’s story can help others to make better informed decisions and to choose the right vet to assist in making their pet’s final moments as peaceful as possible.
March 17 · Audrey BarryMy 10 year old pup, Dallas, recently had a cruciate ligament repair for his right back leg. I am so happy I entrusted the MHFA staff and Dr. Lynch with this surgery. They knew Dallas was an anxious dog and treated him with the care he needed. He came out of surgery looking great. Four days later and he is looking amazing and I'm just so happy with the experience I had. Highly recommend them for this type of surgery.
March 25 · Shannon SkinnerDr. Hoffman was patient and caring during time spent with Trapper. After a detailed exam she explained the blood tests needed. While waiting for results in the waiting room she joined me with a portion of the results. She explained them in detail. She inspired confidence. Thank you!
