This facility is a part of the larger VCA network, which provides access to a vast network of veterinary professionals and specialists. The hospital aims to be a trusted partner for pet owners, providing a high level of medical care for their dogs and cats. Situated at 10701 South St, Cerritos, CA 90703, the hospital is easily accessible from major roads, making it a practical choice for pet owners in the area. The facility is equipped to be accessible to all clients, featuring a wheelchair-accessible car park. For the comfort of those visiting, a toilet amenity is also available. As a busy veterinary hospital, they operate with appointments recommended. This system helps to ensure that the staff can manage their patient flow and provide dedicated time for each pet. It is worth noting that they are also an emergency and critical care center, which means they are prepared to handle urgent, unscheduled cases. However, calling ahead for any emergency is always the best practice to allow the team to prepare for your arrival and provide initial guidance. The hospital's hours vary by day, with some days offering 24-hour care, while others have set hours. It's always best to check their website or call for the most current schedule to plan your visit accordingly, whether it's for a routine check-up or an urgent matter.

The features and highlights of VCA Lakewood Animal Hospital are primarily centered on its role as a full-service animal hospital and a member of the VCA network. As a VCA hospital, it has access to a national network of specialists and resources, which can be beneficial for pets with complex medical needs. Their ability to provide Emergency and Critical Care is a crucial highlight for the community, offering a place for pet owners to go when they have a medical crisis. The hospital’s focus on a variety of specialties, from orthopedic surgery to pet cancer care, is another key feature. However, some customer reviews point to significant issues with communication, customer service, and empathy. One reviewer described a lack of empathy during a pet's emergency, with a focus on financial deposits rather than immediate care, which can be a stressful experience for a pet owner. Another review highlighted a lack of follow-up from the veterinarian, inaccurate lab result information, and being overcharged for medication, which suggests that the client-facing experience may not always meet expectations. These reviews indicate that while the hospital provides a wide range of services, the execution of customer communication and empathy in stressful situations may be a point of concern for some clients. The availability of services like Pet Adoption and Pet Loss support, while mentioned, may not always be what the client experiences on the ground, especially during a crisis. The reviews show a clear disconnect between the breadth of services offered and the perceived lack of emotional support and clear communication. It is important for potential clients to be aware of these reported experiences and to consider what is most important to them in a veterinary relationship.
For those who need to contact VCA Lakewood Animal Hospital, the information is as follows. The address is 10701 South St, Cerritos, CA 90703, USA. You can reach them by phone at (562) 926-3600, or via their mobile number, +1 562-926-3600. It is important to note that while they are an emergency and critical care facility, they operate on an appointments-recommended basis. Calling ahead for any visit, especially for emergencies, is strongly advised to help the team prepare for your pet's arrival and to confirm their hours of operation, which can vary.
What is worth choosing about VCA Lakewood Animal Hospital is its comprehensive and advanced medical capabilities. As a full-service hospital with a wide array of advanced care options, from Orthopedic Surgery to Endoscopy, it provides a high level of medical care that may be necessary for pets with serious health issues. The hospital's affiliation with the larger VCA network means it has a robust support system and access to a wide range of resources. However, potential clients should weigh these medical benefits against the negative customer experiences highlighted in public reviews. For some pet owners, clear communication, empathy, and transparent pricing are just as important as the quality of medical care. The reviews suggest that there may be significant inconsistencies in these areas, which could be a major drawback during a stressful pet emergency or for ongoing care. While the hospital's infrastructure and medical offerings are impressive, the importance of personal connection and trust in a veterinary relationship cannot be overstated. For pet owners who prioritize a wide range of available services and advanced medical technology, VCA Lakewood Animal Hospital could be a good fit. However, those who value a highly empathetic and communicative staff, particularly during a crisis, may need to carefully consider these factors before making a choice. For many, a strong and trusting relationship with a vet is paramount, and the public feedback suggests that this may be an area of concern at this particular location.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Lack of empathy and only interested in money. My dog had a wound and was bleeding severely. They asked for a $1800 deposit just to admit her. We waiting an hour with no information until we were told the bleeding had stopped but they would need another $3000 to continue operating on her and for blood transfusions. Money I didn't have. No payment plan was offered. Letting her die was the only option. The nurse came up to me and said, "for the next dog, you should get an insurance plan". No sympathy card. No other options. Avoid this place at all costs if you love your pet.
April 05 · Victor T.They have poor communication. Over promise , under deliver, and are over priced. I was charged over $700 for them to do a urine test. When they released my dog back to me the girl said, "Here you go, have a good day" Like, what? No follow up from the DR after the quote, no instructions as to what to look out for, no instructions on the medication, no print out of instructions. They said they'll do X rays, possible blood work but they didn't. I took my dog in on a Saturday due to my dog not urinating nor pooping. . They told me my pet's lab results would be ready in 24 hrs. Sunday, nothing. That Monday they told me the results were in but the DR was busy and will call me back later that day. They never did. Tuesday my dog was lethargic. I called and they said the lab work had just came in and the DR was busy and yup, they would call me back that same day. . I was obviously upset. They lack empathy of the situation because they lied to me. I refused to wait for a call because my dog's life was at risk and they showed no empathy.. I dropped the F word describing my emotions and was told they were going to hand up on me .I got transferred to a guy stating more lies insisting he had delivered the partial results and also mentioned they would call back with the rest of the results. Which is a lie. He had the audacity to say if the results were bad, they would have called already as if I knew this information. I had spoke to him to get a new prescription for Costco because VCA wanted to charge $200 for meds that I got for $36 at Costco. Turns out my dog was proscribed antibiotics that he didn't need . They gave him antibiotics for 16 days before even receiving the lab results which came back negative. I would not go back. If you love your pet I would recommend taking them somewhere else
July 10 · DianaI was told the wait would be 1 to 1.5 hours, but my dog wasn’t seen until six hours later. After that, it took another three hours just to complete the exam, receive a diagnosis, administer treatment, and get my dog back. I spent over eight to nine hours at this facility with no updates, no communication, and no acknowledgment of how long the visit had dragged on. The staff showed no urgency, no transparency, and no compassion for either my time or my dog's well-being. This was not just a long wait. It was an exhausting and unacceptable experience that made it clear this facility is not equipped to handle high patient volume or communicate effectively with pet owners. If you value your time, your pet’s care, or basic respect, look elsewhere.
August 26 · Daniel PonderI've been taking my cat here for over 5 years and they have always taken such good care of her! Everyone who works here, from the front desk staff through the veterinarians has been incredibly helpful and kind. They are very thorough and go the extra mile to take care of you.
July 16 · Meredith SchuetzeI brought my cat here at 230 p.m as a walk in understanding that I may need to wait. Vet didn't speak to me till 7p.m. Vet told me it would be a couple hours. Didn't leave till 12:30 a.m $1000 lighter and no resolution as to what was wrong with her other than they hydrated her.
