What is worth choosing
When selecting a veterinarian in Massachusetts, the decision is often a reflection of a clinic's balance between professional competence and genuine empathy. The reviews for Vetco Total Care at Cody Pet Hospital offer a complex picture, highlighting both the potential for exceptional care and some areas for improvement. A glowing review from a grateful pet owner on a fixed income speaks to the core value of this practice. They were deeply touched by the staff's decision to "do what's the best for the dog" by recommending a less expensive, but equally effective, treatment plan. This level of honesty and consideration is a powerful testament to the clinic’s commitment to patient well-being over profit. This client's enthusiastic declaration of finding "the best veterinary office in Massachusetts" underscores the profound impact of this compassionate approach.
However, another review reveals a different experience, with a client feeling that a veterinarian was "dismissive and very rushed in her examination." This feedback, while negative, highlights a key consideration for pet owners: the importance of a thorough physical exam and open communication. It also suggests that a positive experience with one staff member, such as a front desk nurse, may not always be consistent across the entire team. Despite this, the presence of deeply positive feedback suggests that the clinic is capable of providing truly exceptional care. For pet owners in Massachusetts who prioritize a team that can offer both a wide range of services and a compassionate, understanding approach—particularly for those with financial concerns—this clinic presents a compelling option. The possibility of an outstanding, kind, and accommodating experience makes it a worthy consideration for those seeking a dedicated veterinary partner.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am on a fixed income, and it is difficult for me when unexpected expenses arise, even though it's an everyday thing to most people, when you struggle to "make ends meet," it's not so "every day." My dog, Pappy, had an ear infection, and he was definitely in need of a nail trim which made it way worse for him because simply trying to scratch his ears to "help" himself was causing more irritation. Not having a vet that I take him to regularly and wanting him seen sooner than later, I called Cody, and he was seen the next afternoon. Realizing that this could be much more costly than I was going to be able to afford, I explained my financial "woes" to the technician ahead of the Dr. coming in to do the exam. When she came in with the technician, she said that "There's been a change in what we're going to do because we are going to do what's the best for the dog." I truly can't remember the last time that I had anyone recommend taking a less costly approach to anything because it was better for myself or any of my pets, etc. By not doing some of the things that weren't "absolutely necessary" to help treat his ears, the end result was still what we needed - he is better now, and I found the best veterinary office in Massachusetts! Everyone there was very kind, and I wouldn't hesitate to take my pets there (and I will be), or recommend this animal clinic to everyone! They're the best!
June 28 · Cheryl WrightI took my partner's 14 year old cat here about a month ago. The staff was very friendly, especially one of the front desk nurses! He was knowledgeable and patient with any question I had.The veterinarian felt dismissive and very rushed in her examination of our cat. It was a routine visit initially, but I expressed concern for how he had recently started having issues with diarrhea and an irritated butt. She didn't even look at his backside before saying it was fine and didn't check his mouth really at all, even though he had just had a few teeth pulled. She was only a little concerned about him having a lower body temperature than he should. After this, she recommended an anti-diarrhea medicine to treat the symptom and doing a couple of tests. I was okay with them doing blood work, but it felt kind of off that the physical exam was so brief, but the expensive part they were quick to tack on. Everything came back all right. She was still confused about the temperature, but said that the only thing she can think of is that he ingested marijuana (even though there was no way this was possible). Now I'm suspecting there are issues with his mouth again that probably could've been detected a month ago.Reading reviews, it seems like others have had similar or a lot worse experiences with this negligence.
May 03 · GWAwful don’t go here! Brought my elder dog in who was in pain and I thought it was arthritis and see where I can get help. There examination was a hands up your dogs clearly in pain let’s check his blood. All blood work came back normal. They wanted to help to get him to eat with a medication. I said that won’t help with his pain the doctor said she had another client when I asked questions I said forget it I’ll pay and leave 10 minutes later she came out and said she can give him a shot for pain I said I’m leaving and she said okay. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVE ONES TO THIS HELL!
April 27 · Tara CWe had to bring our black lab Dewey in because we were concerned about his ears. Dewey was a rescue that we got when he was 4 months old. Him and his litter mates were abandoned in Mississippi when they were born and Dewey has a lot of trauma due to that. He is a high anxiety dog and gets scared very easily. The employees at Cody Pet Hospital were awesome! They were super patient and helpful with him. The vet came in asked us some questions, swabbed his ears, and gave us a diagnosis within 10 minutes. He has a bad yeast infection in his ears. They gave us everything we needed to clean his ears daily and the medicated drops for the infection. This was the first visit at Cody Pet Hospital and we definitely plan to use them in the future for all Dewey’s needs!
August 17 · Suzanne AmaraI had a wonderful experience here. I brought Millie in because she had a rash. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. If want a place that is clean, professional, and genuinely cares for your animals, this is the place to go!
