August 12 · AL REYNOLDSA former friend shared her terrible experience at Winsted Hospital regarding her dog’s heart condition. She did not receive the necessary treatment for her pet, and instead encountered rude and unprofessional management. The staff were disorganized, expensive, and showed a lack of respect and dignity toward clients—often speaking to adults as if they were children. Most concerning, rather than providing proper care, they suggested euthanizing her pet to avoid dealing with the situation. If you truly care about your animals, I strongly recommend going elsewhere.
September 09 · VeeVery thorough vet care for our 2 cats and our dog. The vet was very patient with us and explained things in terms that made sense. You can tell everyone there loves animals. The vet techs are all super nice and so good with the animals!
August 12 · Aurora KI’m extremely disappointed and heartbroken over the care my dog received at this veterinary office. Despite repeatedly expressing concerns about lumps on her body and bleeding from her mouth, we were consistently told she was “fine” and that the bleeding was just from playing with a ball. Trusting their expertise, we hesitated to seek a second opinion—something I now deeply regret.Eventually, we brought her to another veterinary clinic. Within one visit, they identified a cancerous tumor that now requires surgery. They also found that the bleeding was not from playing but from her gums growing over her teeth, causing her to bite into them—a painful condition that had been entirely overlooked and is requiring surgery as well.What makes this even more upsetting is the difference in how our dog is treated now. The new staff doesn’t muzzle her, and she’s no longer scared to walk through the door. They treat her with love, patience, and kindness—just as we do. It's devastating to think that her condition could have been addressed sooner if she had received proper care the first time.We trusted this clinic to look out for our pet’s health and well-being, and that trust was broken. May 08 · Mike Fitzgerald🚨 Pet owners beware 🚨I was just dropped by my vet (Winsted Hospital for Animals) after spending THOUSANDS there in a year. Their excuse? “Policy violations.” The truth? I missed 5 appointments:• One they canceled,• One car accident,• One time discrepancy,• One miscommunication.* Another they rescheduled and I misunderstood the new date as Alexa speaks fast, with an attitude, and rushed me off the phone.👉 I paid for every single one, plus deposits for follow-ups.Meanwhile:•$700 test billed at $850 no explaining where the additional $150 came from•Cat spay complications → they charged me just to check if she was okay.•Senior dog in palliative care left hanging with essential meds “they are narcotics” when asked for an alternative instead was told there isn’t.•Staff told me “dogs don’t get withdrawals from opiates” Since their corporate takeover, prices skyrocketed, vets rotate constantly, and compassion is gone. They’d rather abandon pets in the last months of life rather than value loyal clients who has always been more than willing to pay for my mistakes of missing any appointments. Let’s keep in mind I have 7 pets, a business, and a large social media platform. I am human I make mistakes however once I PAY for the time slot missed in full, it should no longer be considered a “no call no show” I paid for the time therefore it is my time. Sorry you couldn’t get double paid by booking someone else as well but you certainly got paid for the missed appointments and considering the whopping fees you all already charge compared to any other vet I have been to in the past. You have some audacity.I advised my doctor that my dog started to build a tolerance to the hydrocodone he was being given to control his cough and bc I voluntarily gave them the information of my personal experience with PRESCRIPTION OPIATES THAT WERE PRESCRIBED TO ME FROM DOCTORS. I have been off said pain pills for 10 years as of August 10. I was explaining that our brains and receptors as well as any animal brain receptors work the same in that over time more will be required to get the same relief. After some back and forth advocating for my elderly dog he finally gave me what was needed. I OFFERED to provide videos of every time I gave him his dose via email. Unfortunately due to the size of the jpeg file this was not possible HOWEVER I showed the doctor the videos and he said to just keep a log and that would suffice. And I did. Now Alexa who thinks she can scold a 42 year old married woman (me) like a child, told me that wasn’t what “SHE and I discussed” as if what she says trumps what the man with an actual degree in veterinary medicine said. I once again very calmly bit my tongue and explained that the videos JPEG file was unfortunately too large and made that impossible.My gut feeling as well as what was confirmed to me by multiple other staff members who I won’t say any names. They were exceptionally kind and not arrogant or rude. A few of them confirmed that bc I VOLUNTEERED the information that I was once PRESCRIBED OPIODS and am now ten years in recovery, that seemed to have given miss Alexa some preconceived notion about me and I am sure she shared this theory with the doctor and bc of that my dog almost had to suffer withdrawals after having run out of his meds early. Mind you we are talking an extremely small dosage of an opioid that has about a 10th of the strength of the MULTIPLE DIFFERENT, EXTREMELY STRONG opiates I had been prescribed long ago. I would NEVER short my dog for ANY OPIATE at ANY STRENGTH! Let alone for one that packs less of a punch than Tylenol. Had she bothered to look she would have noticed that I didn’t even fill the prescription the first time they gave it to me for 2 months until I absolutely could no longer control his cough with Chinese herbs holistically which worked for 2 months until it didn’t by itself anymore. They better provide care until I find replacement, bc if my dog suffers? They WILL go viral¬ in a good way, the Connecticut board of vets will be notified
