Petco Introduce
For many pet owners in Mesa, Arizona, and the surrounding East Valley communities, Petco is a familiar name, a place they turn to for a wide range of pet supplies and services. Located at a key intersection, this Petco store aims to be a convenient and accessible resource for everything from daily essentials to specialized care. As a major retailer in the pet industry, it offers a broad selection of products that cater to dogs, cats, fish, reptiles, and small animals, positioning itself as a one-stop-shop for many pet parents. This location is part of a national chain, which means it carries many of the well-known and house-brand products that customers expect. While the store offers an extensive variety of items, from specialized food and treats to toys and habitats, the overall experience can be a mixed bag, as customer reviews sometimes highlight inconsistencies in cleanliness, stock, and service. However, for a quick and convenient trip to pick up a specific item, or to take advantage of one of their on-site services, the store at 2090 S Power Rd is a go-to for many local residents who live in the area and need to get what they need without traveling far.

The store is easy to find and navigate, making it a good choice for a quick visit when you are on a tight schedule. In terms of physical accessibility, the store is well-equipped to accommodate all visitors. It features a wheelchair-accessible car park, a wheelchair-accessible entrance, and a wheelchair-accessible toilet, ensuring that all customers, regardless of mobility, can shop comfortably. The store also offers Wi-Fi, which can be a helpful amenity for customers who need to look up product information or check online prices while browsing. The convenience of its location and its thoughtful accessibility features contribute to a straightforward and simple shopping experience for local pet owners. This Petco location provides a variety of services, offering more than just products for purchase. The combination of retail and on-site services is designed to create a comprehensive pet care destination. While reviews sometimes point to challenges with the execution of these services, the range of options available is extensive and caters to various pet needs. The services offered include:
- Kerbside pickup: A convenient option for customers who prefer to order online and have their purchases brought directly to their car, saving time and effort.
- Delivery: The store offers delivery services, bringing products right to your doorstep for added convenience.
- In-store pick-up: This service allows you to place an order online and pick it up inside the store at your leisure.
- In-store shopping: The traditional shopping experience, allowing customers to browse the aisles and physically select their products.
- On-site services: The store provides several on-site services to address pet health and wellness needs. This includes a full-service grooming salon for dogs and cats, dog training classes for all ages and skill levels, and Vetco vaccination clinics for affordable preventive care.
- Fish and Reptile Supplies: As a designated fish store, goldfish store, reptile store, and tropical fish store, this location offers a wide range of supplies and, in many cases, the animals themselves.
- Vaccination Clinics: The Vetco clinic offers a la carte and package vaccinations, as well as microchipping, diagnostic testing, and deworming, providing a convenient and fee-free way to keep pets healthy.
The features and highlights of Petco are centered around its comprehensive offerings and convenience. The store's business model is built to provide a wide array of products and services under one roof. The on-site services, such as grooming, training, and Vetco clinics, are intended to provide a full-service experience for pet owners. The availability of multiple shopping options, including delivery and curbside pickup, demonstrates an effort to meet the diverse needs of modern consumers. The store's expansive inventory, particularly in the aquatics and reptile sections, is a notable feature, as it caters to specialized pet hobbies that are not always supported by smaller stores. The presence of these departments and a variety of food brands, including both national brands and their own house brands, provides a wealth of options for customers. However, as noted in customer reviews, the execution of these services and the overall in-store experience can be inconsistent. Reviews highlight issues with cleanliness, low stock, and a lack of staff knowledge or willingness to assist, which can be significant drawbacks. One customer's experience with a Vetco appointment being an hour late and another's with a worker's unhelpful attitude regarding crickets illustrate the potential for frustrating interactions. These negative experiences can overshadow the convenience and breadth of services the store aims to provide. The store's ability to offer a quick visit is a feature, but it can be negated by poor customer service and a disorganized shopping environment, as detailed in the reviews provided. While the store has the potential to be a great resource, it is clear that the customer experience can vary widely.
For any inquiries or to check on product availability, you can contact this Petco location at (480) 854-1550. The store's address is 2090 S Power Rd, Mesa, AZ 85209, USA. Petco also provides multiple payment options, including credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments, making transactions quick and easy. The contact information serves as a direct line to the store's team, which is important for confirming services like grooming or checking the availability of specific items, such as live feeder insects, to avoid a wasted trip. Customers are encouraged to call ahead to ask about the current stock or to clarify any questions they may have about services before making the trip. This proactive approach can help mitigate some of the frustrations mentioned in the customer reviews regarding low stock and unhelpful staff.
What is worth choosing this Petco for is its sheer convenience and range of services. For residents in the Mesa area, it offers a central location to find most of what they need for a variety of pets, from dogs and cats to fish and reptiles. The availability of on-site services like grooming and vaccinations makes it a potential one-stop-shop, which is a significant time-saver for busy pet owners. The multiple purchasing options, including curbside pickup and delivery, are also valuable features in today's market. However, it is important for customers to be aware of the potential for inconsistent experiences, as highlighted by other local users. While the store has the infrastructure to be a fantastic resource, the human element of customer service and store management appears to be a variable factor. For a planned visit to pick up common items or a scheduled service, it can be a convenient option. For those seeking specialized or sensitive care, or who have had poor past experiences, it may be prudent to call ahead or consider other local options. The pet store's value lies in its potential and its broad offerings, but the actual customer experience seems to depend heavily on the day and the staff on duty.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If I could give zero stars I would.... Place is filthy, stock is low. Vetco appointments are a joke. An hour late is unacceptable & this is after they cancelled the appointment from the day before. This isn't the only Petco that has been this way. Every corner looks like the photos I have provided. What a shame, PetSmart will be getting our business from now on. ✌️
August 09 · matt coffmanWent there to get 2 large crickets for my tarantula, which I called before to verify in stock. 2 crickets. That's it. Arrive at the store and make my way back to the feeder insect section. They have everything out except crickets, with a sign at the top shelf saying, need more crickets? Ask an associate. Or something to that effect. Thought this was odd, because there were zero crickets out there and no cricket bin, so where exactly would they typically be? Anyways, walked back up front and no one is up there. Look around for a bit and found a worker in the office eating dinner or something. She sees me and walks out towards me. I said I just need two large crickets. She says, "got it," and walks back to the office. I assumed they must have a bin back there. I waste some time in the aisle waiting for the crickets. After a few minutes, I look up to the office and she's gone. Go back up front and sure enough she's up there checking people out. As I walk up, she says, "I'm allergic to crickets so you need to ask the other worker, but she's with another customer." Seriously? Why the heck didn't you tell me this when I asked 10 minutes ago? Wow. I walk back over to the feeder aisle and the coworker is helping another customer as expected. I waited a few minutes, and just as she finished was immediately onto another customer. Again, waited several minutes. I was standing right in front of her and was never acknowledged once. Didn't even look my direction. Well, wasted another 10 minutes waiting, and just gave up and walked out empty-handed. At this point, it's close to 8pm so everywhere is closed. What a waste of time. Possibly the most pathetic attempt at customer service I've ever experienced.
June 13 · Marc RzeszutkoI would like to bring to your attention the concerning living conditions of the leopard geckos at your store. Currently, there are 12 geckos housed in a small terrarium with inadequate space and only one hide and two small plants for enrichment. This setup does not allow the geckos to escape the elements or access proper shelter. I observed one albino gecko struggling to access the hide due to overcrowding, and as albinos are more vulnerable to burns, this poses a serious risk. Furthermore, the use of calci sand is a known hazard to leopard geckos, as it can lead to impaction. When I raised these concerns with the management and requested an additional hide, I was informed that corporate restrictions prevent improvements. I reached out to Petco corporate, but unfortunately, my concerns were not adequately addressed. While I typically shop at Petsmart due to their better animal care standards, I was unable to find the heat lamp I needed for my own gecko and had to visitf Petco, where I was disappointed to see these poor conditions.I urge you to reconsider the welfare of these animals and make necessary changes to their environment. Their well-being should be a top priority.
April 02 · Kayla AlbuHas a variety of avian toys and treats. The employees were helpful. The only issue I had was that most of their "buy one, get one 50% off" did not have a second item to buy. I asked if an item of lesser value, also advertised for the sale, could count. The cashier said it did not. Still, that's corporate and not the employees' decision. They were friendly and engaging.
June 14 · John Caleb CollinsEDIT:came back this week and there HAS been some improvements. Cages were much more clean. Aquatics is still struggling but the manager recognizes where they need help and is putting in action to catch up. I hope to continue to see this location to glow & grow! This location needs attention from higher ups! It’s absolutely unacceptable the condition these animals are being left in. The store is clearly dirty and it seems the workers are more concerned with their phones than their jobs.Who knows the last time the caged have been cleaned or animals actually cared for. Step it up PetCo.*pictures is the poor ferrets cage- horrible smell of ammonia coming from it from the amount of urine & poop.
