The Good Dog is a top choice for pet owners in the California region for many reasons, but what makes it truly worth choosing is its unwavering commitment to both the pets and the people in its community. The reviews, while mixed, offer a real-world look at the kind of care and service you can expect. On the one hand, a customer's review highlights the store's professionalism and expertise, especially when dealing with a fearful and anxious dog during grooming. The groomer, Dawn, was described as gentle and effective, getting the job done with a positive outcome. This shows that the staff is genuinely skilled and compassionate, capable of handling challenging situations with grace and expertise. On the other hand, the negative review points to a potential issue with service consistency and customer resolution. However, it also illustrates the business's willingness to offer a solution—re-grooming the dog—which, while not what the customer wanted, was an attempt to make things right. It is worth noting that the positive feedback often focuses on the gentle, personalized approach, which is a hallmark of a small business. Choosing a local small business like The Good Dog means you are supporting a place that deeply values its community and its customers. They go beyond simple transactions to build relationships, offering a personal touch that you won't get from a larger corporation. The availability of delivery, in-store pickup, and a welcoming, accessible environment makes it a highly convenient option for a wide range of customers. By choosing The Good Dog, you're not just buying pet supplies; you're supporting a local business that strives to provide a superior, compassionate experience for both you and your pet.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was very impressed with The Good Dog. I called ahead and talked with the gentleman there who was so nice over the phone. I have a 3 year old Goldendoodle who was adopted recently who hates to be groomed. Many previous groomers in the past have had issues with her. She doesn't like to be crated, she nips and is just very scared in general. They were very confident in helping me and my pup get the groom she needed. It was suggested that I bring her in as a first apt so there was no need to crate her. We were welcomed in and I was introduced to Dawn the groomer who was so gentle with her and took her back to get to work. It took just over an hour and I picked her up with good news that she did great AND she looked so cute and exactly the look we wanted since it's summer and so hot. I was so impressed with their professionalism and expertise on how they got her to accept a full groom/nail trim. We will be back. A huge thanks to Groomer, Dawn and the Gentleman at the front.
August 06 · Heather PotterExtremely disappointed with the service. $140 for not much of a difference. It looks like he was only bathed. Hair barely seemed to be touched, there was still gunk in his eyes, nails did not look like they were clipped, beard under chin is still dirty etc. The photos below are the before photo and the after photo. We informed Nick, the general manager and he didn’t seem to care about our concerns. I even said that I could send a photo which he ignored multiple times and was insisting on sending the groomer back out to re groom him. The groomer already told me this morning that his nose was bleeding because he had anxiety. I explained that I do not want to put my dog through that again and would like to be compensated with a refund or even a partial refund but was declined because services were done. What services? We seriously paid for nothing. He said he would do everything in his power to make it right yet the only solution offered was for her to come back out and fix the job. Not going to put my dog through that again. Absolutely unacceptable. Horrible customer service.
April 11 · brandi straughterI would like to give no stars. Last week my daughter and I came in to the good dog to get my daughters dogs groomed and to buy treats. We arrived between 1130am and 12pm. We asked about getting shampoos, trims, nail trims and filing, along with teeth cleanings for the pups. The man said they could do all of it and that they could take the dogs to the back and wait to their scheduled opening at 1pm. We agreed as the man was seemed very knowledgeable and the dogs were very happy to go with them. So we paid in advance of around $160. This was $75 for one dog and $55 for the other dog, along with the chicken feet treats we bought. He said he would contact us when they were done grooming them. At 330pm we received a text stating they were done and that the pups were ready to be picked up. When we arrived the man informed us that they were not able to do any of the agreed grooming treatments except for a wash. He proceeded to ask why the dogs were so fussy and if they had ever been groomed before. We said no this was their first time getting groomed. He said he should had asked us in the beginning. We then said we wanted our money back and he said no. We were upset, upset even to the point my daughter started crying. She had been saving her money to get them groomed. The man said they charged a handling fee which he never discussed with us in the beginning nor about the concerns of grooming for the first time. He continued to say he should had asked us first but that he couldn't refund us thr services they didn't even perform. We said they don't even have the cute bandanas on them either. He continues to say I'll get you bandanas for them asi promised, will that take the sting out of it? My daughter said yes I want them, and I want my money. This place is very disappointing. He boasted about the business being 10 plus years of experience in grooming. Looked like they needed experience in business and personal skills. They are a horrible place and I will make sure to let everyone i know not to trust them. In addition, the dogs are 7 months old, very sweet and have never harmed any one. They are around kids, strangers at stores and at parks and never displayed disobedience or bad behavior or biting to anyone or sitters. The man claimed the dogs were out of hand and jumping everywhere and bite the groomer. If he had asked us if this was there first time getting groomed he would had known they would be jumping everywhere. And the biting story seems elaborated. I'm sure there is cameras, maybe they should look at the cameras and see. I would like to see the evidence of such behavior. Even so they shouldn't had waited almost 4 hours for us to get our dogs either, if they were so bad they should had told us to come get them and that they couldn't do the service. They waited and claimed in the texts that everything was fine to come get them.
July 23 · Robin Nicole LoaIf I could give them zero stars, I would. I took my dog two months ago to get groomed Yeah, the guy is very nice, but I should’ve walked away the minute that I crossed conversation with the groomer she was so rude, and I don’t need that. When I came back to pick up my dog. She didn’t give her back to me. So Guy gave her to me. There was no report on how my girl did. There was no nothing. All I know is that she was very lethargic She stopped eating a few days, or she passed away of a diabetic spike. A diabetic spike can be caused by stress. My dog was one of the Best dogs, ever. I never stress her out. My princess was amazing, but she did expect everyone to treat her nice, so whatever they did. Here was definitely the reason why my dog died. I will never ever want to deal with them. And the worst part, is that if they made an excuse and said that no, nothing happened to my dog with them, they’re covering bad behavior of groomers. So people be careful. I wanna know exactly what they did to my dog, and if they have cameras in there I’m not gonna let it go. I love my baby too much.
August 20 · Victoria BravoDO NOT bring your fur babies here! Although many other reviews look good, I wouldn't ever bring my fur baby back here. When I arrived I showed Nick (person who works the front desk) a picture of my fur baby and how he normally gets groomed. I didn't get to meet the groomer and I should've known at that moment that something was off. I wanted to give this place a chance so I left my fur baby to get groomed. When I picked him up, his ear were completely chopped his face and head were cut down so short. I told Nick that I wanted a teddy bear face just like the picture of my fur baby when he gets groomed at another place. His cut was nothing like the picture of my fur baby. The cut was very blunt, usually the top of my fur baby's head and ears are fluffy and styled. Mike was the person that groomed him. And to make it worse the services were $160. I didn't know how to react. I was polite and respectful, I paid and left. My mother had referred me to this place and felt horrible when I told her about my experience. She called and complained on my behalf. The next day my dog was bleeding on his snout and under his eyes. He was cut way too short in those areas and the cutting machine cut him in so many places. My fur baby has been sad for a couple of days which has never happened. I am beyond disgusted with this place. When I called and advised Nick of this his response was that he could "pull the cameras" and that "I should take him to the vet". He refunded my tip and called it a day. This place has no knowledge of cutting any type of doodle and should not be grooming dogs due to their lack of care. Hopefully my review saves others fur babies from a bad experience at a place that shouldn't be grooming.
