Cozycroft Pet Hospital Introduce
For pet owners in California, selecting an animal hospital is a significant decision that impacts the health and happiness of their beloved companions. In the heart of Chatsworth, Cozycroft Pet Hospital has been a part of the local community for over 30 years. This animal hospital is designed to be a comprehensive care provider, offering a wide array of services that go beyond basic check-ups. It is a place where many local residents have taken their pets for years, building a relationship based on convenience and a long-standing presence in the neighborhood. While individual experiences can vary, the hospital's longevity and established role in the community speak to its enduring commitment to pet care.
Cozycroft Pet Hospital provides a full spectrum of veterinary services, addressing everything from routine wellness to more serious medical conditions. The hospital's focus on a broad range of care allows it to be a single resource for many pet health needs. The facility offers general and routine check-ups as well as more complex services such as surgery, dental care, and dermatology. This comprehensive approach means that for many of a pet’s health requirements, from common ailments to more specific issues, the hospital is equipped to provide treatment. This integrated care model can be very convenient for pet owners in the San Fernando Valley, as it minimizes the need to visit multiple different specialized clinics.
The hospital's reputation among some long-term clients is mixed, but there are certain points that are consistently highlighted. The doctor has been described by some as "sweet and seems caring" and "very sweet and caring," though some note that he is not always present. The doctor’s "old school" approach is seen as a positive by some, who "take what he says to heart" and find him to be "very knowledgeable" and kind, treating their dogs "like his own." On the other hand, there are concerns raised about the cleanliness of the facility, with one review calling it "disgustingly filthy" and expressing concern about "the filth I might not be able to see." Pricing is noted by one long-term user as "very fair," and the clinic is praised for not "pushing a lot of extras on you." However, there are also accounts of extreme dissatisfaction with the staff's attitude and the clinic's policies, particularly concerning prescription refills and fees, as noted by a senior on a fixed income who faced what they considered an "extreme hardship." These varied experiences paint a picture of a practice with a caring doctor but inconsistent staff and facility management, a common situation in many small, long-standing businesses.
Located at 20601 Plummer St in Chatsworth, Cozycroft Pet Hospital is well-positioned to serve the communities of the San Fernando Valley. Its location is convenient for residents of Chatsworth, Northridge, and surrounding areas. The hospital is committed to providing a welcoming environment for all visitors. The facility is equipped with a wheelchair-accessible car park, a wheelchair-accessible entrance, and a wheelchair-accessible toilet, ensuring that all pet owners, regardless of mobility, can bring their animals in for care with ease. This attention to accessibility is a significant feature that demonstrates a commitment to serving the entire community. While specific hours can vary, the hospital's central location on Plummer Street makes it a staple of local pet care for many years, offering a familiar destination for routine and emergency needs alike.
For those planning a visit, "appointments are recommended," which helps to manage the flow of clients and pets, although reviews suggest that wait times can sometimes be a factor. The direct phone number is (818) 341-3040 or +1 818-341-3040. This provides a clear channel for communication for scheduling, inquiries, or emergencies. The ability to make appointments is a standard practice for many veterinary clinics, allowing the staff to prepare for each patient and ensure that a veterinarian is available to provide care. This structured approach is intended to provide a more efficient and less stressful experience for both the pet and the owner, though it is clear from some public feedback that the execution of these policies can vary depending on the staff member on duty.

What is worth choosing:
For California pet owners, deciding on a veterinary hospital involves weighing a number of factors, including the quality of care, pricing, and overall customer service. Cozycroft Pet Hospital presents a unique combination of long-term local presence and a comprehensive range of services. Some clients have built a strong loyalty to the doctor, praising his knowledge and compassion, as well as the hospital's approach to pricing, which is seen as "very fair" and honest. The hospital's refusal to "push a lot of extras" can be a significant draw for pet owners who appreciate transparency and a focus on essential care. For some, the fact that they can get everything from a check-up to surgery in one place is a major convenience. The accessibility features are also a plus, making it a viable option for a wider range of the community.
However, the decision to choose this hospital must also take into account the negative feedback. The described issues regarding staff attitude and facility cleanliness are serious concerns that could impact a pet's health and an owner's peace of mind. The accounts of cold, unhelpful staff and a difficult experience for a senior citizen, along with a "horrid" euthanasia experience, indicate that customer service can be inconsistent. While some find the doctor to be "awesome" and "kind," others have had experiences that would prevent a return visit. Ultimately, for those in Chatsworth who value an established, local, and comprehensive care provider with a focus on affordability, Cozycroft Pet Hospital could be a good fit, particularly for those who have an established positive relationship with the veterinary staff. However, for those who prioritize spotless facilities and a consistently empathetic front-desk experience, it may be worth exploring other options.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Update: I’ve decided to get my dogs prescription at chewy.com because it’s $0.09 a tablet as opposed to $3 at the vet. But they were not responding to requests from chewy to ok the or forward the prescription so I called. The woman at the office told me I had to bring Rudy in for a checkup to get the prescription, even though he was seen 4 times last year for the skin issue. They wanted $70 for the visit and addition fee for the doctor. I explained I’m a 72 yr old senior on a fixed income and in the middle of a pandemic. That the fee she’s asking is an extreme hardship, not to mention my fear of getting sick. I asked if there was possibly a senior discount, or a discount day. I was told that they do not offer any assistance “we are not a charity case” was her exact comment. I told her she was making me choose between getting groceries or paying for an unnecessary vet bill. I asked to have the vet call me, she told me I was no longer welcome there and the vet is very busy and would not call me. “Take your business elsewhere, we don’t want you here anymore” was what she told me.I was in there a recently with my other dog and was shocked to see, in the midst of this health crisis, the place is still disgustingly filthy.I had to have my beloved cat put down, I still have nightmares about the experience there. I’ve had several dogs and cats I’ve had to put down and never had such horrid experience. Besides my feeling the staff being so cold and the facility so dirty, what ever they did was visibly and emotionally disturbing. The vet has always been very nice, but I started doubting his knowledge when both my dog, over the years, with different symptoms, always seemed to had the same over priced medication and treatment.I went there for years because it was recommended by the shelter and they are so close and convenient. But never again, unless there are major changes to address the disturbing issues.Original post: The Veteranarin is very sweet and seems caring but isn’t there often. Services are very basic I thought. Some staff are nice, others seem like they really couldn’t care less. Prices are very fair and they don’t push a lot of extras on you. THE PLACE IS FILTHY so I’m concerned about the filth I might not be able to see.
August 30 · Carol GreenstoneI love this place. The doctor is a little old school but he’s awesome. I take what he says to heart. He seems very knowledgeable and is very kind. He also loves my dogs like his own.
October 06 · Ethan FrankDr. Steve Harther has been seeing our pets for over 2 decades and continues to see our fur babies with the same care today as he did 20+years ago. Susie and Tabitha are always friendly and accommodating for Roxy and Kona. Thank you
May 23 · jas dhillonI took our Rossi for the first time to Cozycroft & I’m so glad I went. My sister in law Jeanne recommended them and the were honest, & it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. Other places want you to run so many test and think your a bank. We love our animals but honestly, I feel comfortable being able to rescue animals when there are pet hospitals like Cozycroft♥️ thank you for taking care of Rossi♥️
