★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I can't thank the staff at Hickory enough, especially Dr. Kent for saving our dog Oliver last night. We rushed Oliver to Hickory after he suddenly became very sick, threw up, and went completely white, it was terrifying. We had no idea what was wrong as he's otherwise a young, healthy dog. We called Hickory and they were ready and waiting when we arrived. Dr. Kent was so communicative, so transparent, and so helpful with everything. He walked us through everything he recommended and his suspected diagnosis. He was very open about cost, risks, and what was necessary. We discovered Oliver was in the midst of anaphylactic shock for unknown reasons. Dr. Sparks truly saved his life and we are so grateful.
August 05 · Holly BeckI was looking for a vet behaviorist and was lucky to find Dr Bergman! All the other vet behaviorists had 2+ month waiting lists, but Dr Bergman was able to see me in 2 weeks (which felt like a godsend). The consultation was the least expensive out of all the vets I talked with, and didn't ask for a deposit that I would later forfeit if I cancelled (the other vets had weird policies). We had a very thorough 2 hour conversation, and her team of 2 entertained my dog the entire time. I felt like it was a very productive consultation/ part therapy session for me and my anxiety. Since then, I've been able to email them with all sorts of questions and receive a response within 24 hours. Walter is great at communication, and always sets me up with either an answer from the dr, or a new virtual appt within the next 3-5 days. Since then, we've had to change our medication 2x, but I feel very relieved, and happy to know that I have a direct line of communication to a vet I trust and her expertise, while also feeling comfortable enough to do so. As an anxious person, I'm scared to continue trying out new medication, but it's a big help that I don't feel like a burden to the staff when asking if things are going correctly.
August 26 · Brittany ChanEvery single staff member makes me and my sweet pup Tony Soprano feel so welcome and cared for. We are frequent flyers of the emergency department since my pup has epilepsy, and every time we come in we are greeted so so warmly. The nurses, front desk staff, and all the doctors are incredible, I feel very lucky for their love and support 💖
July 28 · Fiona AllenWe brought our dog Solstice in after she had swallowed an acorn whole and couldn't pass it oct of 2024. To make all of this worse we were visiting family in the area from Maryland. Everyone from hickory made our extremely stressful situation that much easier. All the staff were friendly, happy, and kind. Everyone there truly made the best of our situation. Dr. Kent was the first doctor we saw and the one we had the most interaction with during the whole process. He was fantastic at making my wife and I comfortable. He was able to clearly communicate all of our options, exactly what was going on and what he would do in our situation. We cannot give him and the rest of the team of people who worked with sol through our the process. Thank you everyone! Sol has made a complete recovery and we were actually able to sprout her acorn.
March 08 · Michael OldroydI appreciate the help that the young lady at the front desk gave me. I walked in around 745 last and had a few questions. She was on the phone and I could here the guy she was on the phone with. He was being rude and yelling. She did her best to answer his questions. That still wasn't good enough. He wanted to speak to a doctor or a technician but didn't want to bring his animal in. She handled that the best way she could. Give the girls at the desk credit. They are the first and last you see and they deserve to be treated better.
