March 11 · Jenny RomanThis rating is for this experience, not for Petco or the Store Manager Damien.What began as a great customer experience, one that made me feel valued as a Petco customer who has spent hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in this store and who is subscribed to the Vital Care program, quickly turned into a frustrating and embarrassing situation.A week ago, I brought my daughter in to buy over $200 worth of fish supplies for her birthday. The day before, I was told that a sale would start the next day and that my 15% Vital Care discount could be applied to the sale price of the tank. So, despite living more than 25 miles away, I returned the next day to make the purchase.While checking out, I noticed in the Petco app that the discount couldn’t be applied to sale items. I was willing to accept that, even though I had just been told otherwise. But as I casually mentioned it during checkout, a passing manager (Damien) said, “Oh, I can do that, no problem,” and applied the discount without me even asking.The next day, we realized the hood light’s plug didn’t work. I drove the 25 miles again and returned to the store with just the plug to exchange but was told I needed to bring back the entire hood and box. A few days later, I drove all the way back again with everything, and was helped by Indigo. During the exchange, Indigo told me that I had to pay a price difference between the sale and regular price of the hood.It didn’t make sense that I had to pay to do an exchange of the same exact item. When I asked for an explanation, Indigo quickly got flustered and said the difference was because I had received discounts the week before that I “wasn’t supposed to get" and there was nothing she could do and than prompted me to enter in my card info. As I tried to explain that I was just exchanging a defective item for the same one and that I hadn't asked for any discounts, she cut me off and said that our conversation wasn't productive and pretty much gave me the ultimatum to proceed or not. I continued to plead my case as I swiped my card for her only to cut me off again and than ask if I wanted my receipt, completely dismissing me.I left feeling frustrated and embarrassed, as this was in front of my daughter and another customer and I was made to feel like I had done something wrong just because a manager provided a discount he had offered on his own. As soon as I left, I called back and spoke to Indigo once again. I asked for a manager, but was told that he was on break. I then asked that he call me after he returned from lunch, only for her to tell me that I could call back in an hour instead. I said that I preferred that he call me, she said ok. I ended up having to call back again to speak to Damien the manager, who was more than understanding and willing to make it right.After this experience, I'm planning to cancel my Vital Care subscription and will most likely end up at PetSmart for future pet needs. If my daughter hadn’t already set up her 20-gallon tank and decor, I’d probably return that too.
June 07 · B RoToday I took my dog in for a scheduled grooming appointment at 1:00pm. The groomer told me my dog would be ready by 3:00pm if not earlier. I went into Petco at 3:00pm. The groomer told me she hadn’t even started on my dog yet. She said that walk ins and phone calls took up her time. I told her I’d just take my dog since it had been 2 hours. She went to the back and brought out a dog and tried to hand it to me. It wasn’t my dog. She then said that she was almost done with my dog. We finally left there at 3:30pm. We will NOT be returning.
July 03 · Kirsten WinterI am incredibly disappointed I have been coming here for years now and it was my daughters 5th bday and we were coming to pick out her hamster she had been saving up for about 9 months. We came in 15min before close to just pick it out and buy it and we were met with the most rude, rushing and interrupting employee. I was asking to see the hamsters and if we could see which ones were friendly. She refused to handle them for me or even allow me to touch them with other objects to see if they were friendly for our family. She was then saying that I had to hurry up and pick one out and I explained my daughter is excited and its her b day and to give us more patience. And she just kept insisting that we had to hurry up. I was frustrated by the customer service and left due to that. I will not be getting my pet supplies here ever again due to this customer service.
