In the vibrant community of Simpsonville, South Carolina, pet owners have a multitude of options for their animal companions' needs. Among the largest and most comprehensive is Petco, a well-known name in the pet industry that offers a vast range of products and services under one roof. Unlike specialized local shops, Petco serves as a one-stop destination for almost every type of pet, from dogs and cats to reptiles and fish. This article will provide a detailed overview of the Simpsonville Petco location, focusing on its extensive offerings, convenience, and role in the local pet community.
Petco's mission is to be a complete partner in a pet's health and wellness journey. They do this by providing more than just products; they offer an ecosystem of services designed to support responsible pet ownership. The store is meticulously organized to help customers find what they need quickly, whether it's a specific brand of cat food, a new toy for a dog, or a specialized habitat for a reptile. The presence of onsite services, such as grooming and training, adds a significant layer of convenience for busy pet parents who want to consolidate their errands.
However, it is worth noting that while Petco is a large chain, its success and reputation rely heavily on the execution of its policies at a local level. Petco has corporate standards and a Code of Ethics that are in place to ensure the health and well-being of all animals in their care. The company states that its employees must complete ongoing training and that sick animals should be immediately isolated and treated by a local veterinarian. They also promote a "Think Adoption First" philosophy, partnering with local animal welfare organizations to host pet adoption events, which is a key service that benefits the community. While some customer experiences, as seen in online reviews, may suggest a need for more diligent adherence to these policies, the company's stated commitment to animal welfare and its comprehensive care standards are a part of its business model.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I visited Petco on 9/2/25 to purchase a Coral Beauty Angelfish for my tank. Right next to it was a Hippo Tang clearly covered in ich or velvet disease—likely even worse than that. Ich is highly contagious and should be treated immediately. When I inspected the Coral Beauty, I noticed it had white spots as well—the early signs of infection. For anyone who doesn’t know, this disease can wipe out an entire saltwater tank if introduced. Saltwater aquariums aren’t easy to maintain, and they definitely aren’t cheap.I expected a store selling saltwater fish to have enough knowledge to recognize and address these issues before putting livestock on display. For people who aren’t aware, buying an infected fish can have devastating consequences. I would not recommend nor purchase a salt water livestock from this location. I will continue to use Zac Reefs in Easley SC. They take extra care of their livestock but I was being impatient and knew this Petco location had a coral beauty.
September 02 · Areonna Rutlandabsolutely disgusting how they mistreat their animals and leave their dead bodies on display. as a hermit crab owner, it is evident that this crab is not only DEAD but it has been for a while. it’s so upsetting seeing the blatant neglect of these animals, especially considering that the staff is fully grown adults. if you’re going to be a 40 year old working at a pet store you should at least bother to do your job well and take care of the animals. i’m so appalled by the poor husbandry of these animals and the blatant lack of respect for their lives. i’m so disappointed by this and i hope that those responsible for the demise of this animal face the same fate.
January 25 · Reginald DonaldsonMy dad just went to try and get a guinea pig for my little brothers birthday, apparently little girls wanted one as well at the same time and weren’t old enough and they thought my dad was buying it for them and REFUSED to let my dad buy it and told my dad to leave the store. This is ridiculous. They didn’t allow my dad to buy something and made him leave. That is an issue. Her name was Naomi, the assistant manager. What a joke she is.
August 08 · bri arroyaveThe employees here are rude as hell and will take shit out of your hands. I just witnessed an employee after hearing how a customers dog passed and how she was excited to have another pet, take the fish out of her hands and tell her she couldn’t buy the fish until she came back with water from her new tank to test. The store is extremely cluttered and I can never find anything I’m looking for. It’s uncomfortable when you know what you’re talking about and they treat you like you’re stupid. I will never be back to this location nor any locations.
August 22 · Rebekah PurkhiserEvidently, the young lady that works in the aquarium department in this store has a doctorate in marine biology because she can tell people how many goldfish will fit in a twenty five gallon tank. It was my understanding that this was a retail store that sold pet supplies. They don't like to make money in my opinion. When they turn customers away every time they try to make a purchase. This young lady has short hair and glasses. It is frustrating to be told as an adult woman that I'm not allowed to buy the amount of goldfish. The absolute best part was when she mentioned that if the fish got too large for the tank they'd have to be surrendered. Do they also have an agency that goes house-to-house Checking fish tanks?
