However, some reviews have raised serious concerns about communication, particularly regarding patient records and post-visit follow-up. One review, in particular, cites a tragic outcome for a pet after a visit, attributing the death to a rabies shot administered to an 18-year-old diabetic cat. The reviewer claims the vet should have known the risks associated with the vaccine and that the office mishandled communication and record-keeping, a sentiment that has led to a great deal of public debate.

What is worth choosing Assisi Veterinary Hospital? Based on the diverse public feedback, the choice depends heavily on what a pet owner prioritizes. On one hand, many clients express immense satisfaction with the care their pets receive. They highlight the staff’s attentiveness, the convenience of appointments, and the overall high standard of medical care. The positive reviews paint a picture of a compassionate and professional environment where pets are treated with love and respect. For example, one client who switched from another vet praised the hospital for its knowledgeable staff and "A++" care, noting that they were so happy they brought all four of their dogs there. This kind of loyalty from a customer who has experience with multiple vets over the years speaks volumes.
On the other hand, the negative reviews, particularly the highly emotional and detailed one regarding the death of a cat, cannot be ignored. These reviews point to potential issues with communication, record-keeping, and clinical judgment that may be a serious concern for some pet owners. While the hospital has its own response to these claims, they have prompted a great deal of discussion and demonstrate that experiences can vary. For a New Yorker considering this hospital, it is worth weighing the consistently high praise for the staff's personal care and convenient service against the serious allegations of medical and administrative shortcomings. It highlights that while many have had excellent experiences, some have not. The decision ultimately rests on a careful consideration of these different perspectives.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I love this vet. I bring all four of my dogs here after formally being a Banfield customer I was totally unhappy with them and I’ve had several different vets over the years. I started coming here with my sick dog about a year ago and since then have switched over And now I bring all four of my dogs to them. They know what they’re doing, they’re attentive ,they care and the staff there is great. They also always seem to have appointments ,Even at the last minute !they’re open seven days a week. they always remember all your pets, even with all the people & pets they see every single day. They’re still all very personable and friendly and the care is A++
August 18 · S HaydTook my 18 year old diabetic cat here for a checkup. Two weeks later she passed away.My original vet closed their doors and I had to look for a new vet. After reading the reviews for this establishment, I decided to give them a try. Biggest mistake ever. I regret my decision and now I lost my baby. The only issue she had was diabetes.Dr Jacoby suggested that she give her a rabies shot. My cat is an indoor cat. Eighteen years she has not received the rabies shot because it was not necessary. I am not a vet so I took her advice. Apparently, after much research, rabies shots can be deadly to animals when the diabetes. She did not know my cat except for the 10 minute exam. As a vet, she should have known what would happen. The next day we ended up in the emergency hospital because she was convulsing. She somewhat recovered but was not the same. I called Dr. Jacoby the next day and the first question out of her mouth was “was it because of the rabies shot?” Obviously, she knew she messed up.My cat was the most beautiful and loving cat I ever had. Now she is gone. I am beyond devastated. All this place does is try to bill you as much as possible. They do not care about the animals. Do not come here. If you love your pet, please do not bring them here.Response to Vet: Not only I have to suffer the pain of losing a wonderful cat, but now I have to read your lies!!! My cat went to the emergency room the next day from visiting your establishment. Get your facts straight! So according to you, it takes 24 hrs for the vaccine to cause damage. Well, it did!! Not only was it incompetent of Dr Jacoby to give her the vaccine knowing she had insulin issues but she knew well that my cat had not received the vaccine for most of her life. Yes, I agreed to it because she is the doctor and should know better than I! Also, the emergency hospital contacted your establishment to let Dr Jacoby know what was going on. When I contacted Dr Jacoby on Monday to find out what I should do next, she had no idea what was going on. Obviously, your office did not pass the message and did not put the information on my cat’s chart. Additionally, every time I was there or called, no one had an idea of the insulin my cat was on. It was not written her chart even after Dr Jacoby took a picture of the insulin. My cat was never the same after visiting your office. You can try to paint this anyway you want, but I know the truth. It is not the first time your office has caused the death of an animal.
September 09 · Tatiana BaqueIf you want a veterinary hospital that you can trust this is where you bring your pets. One of the veterinarians on staff Dr. Lopez is truly amazing doctor . I have known him for over 20 years and I have followed him to this practice. I live 30 minutes away from Malverne but will bring my dog there for peace of mind because I know he is in the right hands .He cares about his fur patients. He goes above and beyond and you can tell he loves his job.His calm demeanor helps pets relax So much that my dog loves going to the vet. The hours are great. If your pet is a patient there they will take you in on an emergency immediately no wait time . Excellent staff always great experience.
October 05 · Christine LaspinaMy cat Provolone had a unexpected ear infection and I brought her here for the first time.I was met with a very warm & friendly staff, the place was kept clean and welcoming. They answered all my questions and concerns. The bill was not bad like I thought it was going to be, highly considering transferring her here for future visits !
June 09 · Monica SanchezDO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BLOVED PET AT THIS VET. My sister’s cat was found DEAD this morning and was to be released today to come home because she was doing fine. Went in with a fever. Lab results came back fine. Cat was there for a day and an half. And then we get a call her baby choked to death on her own vomit the day she is being sent home. HOW…..WHYYYYY are the pets not supervised….they charge very high prices for very low care. Now my sister is heartbroken over carelessness. We are all heartbroken. And the office manager Pat….has zero compassion.
