★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1As terrible as it was, and it was the worst day of my life, putting down my very extremely beloved kitty at VCA CAVES was as good of an experience as it was going to get.We would have went to his primary vets, but it was Labor Day and everywhere else was closed and his body was shutting down very fast and it couldn’t wait.I called ahead and they were ready for us when we got there with him and immediately put us in “the room”. It was dimly lit and very peaceful. The techs were extremely compassionate, caring, considerate and explained the process thoroughly. They gave us as much time with him as we needed before they took him to put in his IV catheter. They brought him back in a comfy pet bed and blankets since we didn’t think to bring any for him.The doctor we saw, unfortunately I can’t remember her name, that part was a blur, explained the process more when it was time and was patient with us as we said our goodbyes. The process itself was peaceful and quick. I was able to hold my boy as he crossed over and that meant the world to me. I didn’t even know that was going to be an option but that’s how they did it and it was the absolutely best way I would have wanted him to go, in his mama’s arms, surrounded by love. They gave us extra time with him after the process and took him away when we were ready. We got a private cremation for him and got to pick out his urn and the turnaround time for that was very quick. He was put down on Monday and his ashes were ready for pickup on Thursday. I just got them today and I’m glad he’s home.Thank you to VCA CAVES for making the worst day of my life more comfortable. My only warning to others is that if you put your pet down here, it is going to be twice the amount of money you would spend at your primary vet. I know the costs of emergency care are higher and we were expecting this and I am not complaining - just warning others. If it’s not a holiday and you have another choice and can’t spend over $500 for this, then go somewhere else. But they made it all worth it with the amazing experience.Thank you guys so much for giving my boy the most peaceful ending possible. You all are superheroes. ❤️🩹
September 05 · Samantha VogtI’m so appreciative of Caves and how well they treated me and my girl. How quickly they managed our emergency was fantastic. Every staff person from the front desk to the overnight staff and all the Vet techs that worked on her to soothe her discomfort, were all so compassionate and just wonderful. She stayed for one overnight but they managed her symptoms the next day and worked on getting her discharged so that I wouldn’t incur any unnecessary overnight charges. I’m just so pleased with how well it all turned out, considering how scary these emergencies can be. Thank you all so much!! Rosie is doing so much better.
June 02 · Jamie MorganLet me start off with all veterinary clinics can't seem to satisfy everyone. This includes myself. About one year ago I left an angry and passionate review to this hospital that wasn't fair. This was after having to put down our 3 year old Husky due to complications from epilepsy. The review I left was out of pain and anger that we had lost our beloved boy. I had deleted my review as soon as I wrote it simply for the fact I knew it was lashing out because of my pain. Anyway fast forward almost one year later our beloved 10 year old Iggy girl was stricken with an unknown illness. We brought her in severely lethargic, couldn't stand, couldn't walk as soon as we arrived they immediately took her in because they didn't like what they saw in her condition. Long story short we had to make that decision to let her pass on but every option was presented to us and we were expertly advised on what we should do and shouldn't do. We gave her the best chance with their care and guidance. Everything vet related is so expensive and they guided us from least expensive to most expensive and compassionately I could tell they weren't happy about discussing price with us. They were compassionate to the very end when she took her last breaths and I'd just like to say if anyone saw my previous review...it wasn't fair. CAVES did everything they could for Iggy and it means more than you know. Thank you from the Hill Family
June 24 · BlkBlazin94My dog swallowed a soft cloth object while I was in the shower. Often he passes such—in this case—he began vomiting—and did so for two hours before I took him to be seen. We waited an additional two hours—and they took in other non urgent patients. The dog continued to get increasingly more sick in their ER and they refused to admit me after I was waiting in the room asking them repeatedly for him to be seen due to the urgency. They asked me to leave for calmly advocating for my pup. They have zero bedside manner and lack of candor or understanding on how precious dogs are to their humans. They claimed that bc I was knocking on the door with urgency asking them to treat him—knowing as a parent that dehydration and persistent vomiting isn’t ok for hours on hours that “makes staff uncomfortable”—these people need to get real, not be operating to ignore patients paying thousands of dollars asking to give them money, and take their panties out of a bunch. They behave as if they’re at risk when you ask for urgency in a calm manner in an urgent situation. They did not even have the bedside manner to come in and say “thank you for being patient. We know that you’re worried. We wanted to put your mind at ease we will get to you soon. Luckily I went to Manchester and they were FABULOUS, understanding, comforted my pup and I, gave us constant reassurance and updates. Grow up and learn how to work with the general public. You’re not the pet police. At one point for simply asking for info they threatened to call police. For nothing out of ordinary (except a very very sick dog that they wouldn’t treat). The Vet tech was like 15 yos andbehaved as if she was in inner city NYC and it was reason to call police? For a sick dog whose owner was asking for help. Grow up and have humanity and empathy.
May 17 · SarahGo here if you need emergency care: our dog has been having some serious medical conditions that were extremely concerning, we had been to the emergency veterinary clinic in Littleton NH and it was at least 3 times more expensive and they didn't listen to our concerns... This veterinary hospital was professional, they listened to our concerns, the prices are fair, they saw us quickly and got us on our way in a reasonable time; we will come here in the future for sure!
