For pet owners with anxious dogs, the staff makes an effort to create a comfortable environment. One customer review noted that the staff made their anxious dog feel "so comfortable," which is a testament to the team's dedication to compassionate handling.
However, it is important for prospective clients to be aware of the experiences of current and past patrons. While some pet owners have had positive experiences, others have expressed concerns. A detailed review from a long-time client highlights the frustration of dealing with an anxious dog and the challenges of receiving consistent, comprehensive care. The client recounted years of incomplete visits, a lack of a clear pain management plan for their dog's osteoarthritis, and difficulty with scheduling follow-up appointments. This review contrasts with the positive experiences and suggests that the level of care may vary depending on the specific provider. It's a reminder that it is always wise to be proactive in your pet’s health journey, ask questions, and establish a clear plan with your veterinarian, especially for pets with chronic conditions or high anxiety. The hospital's ability to offer sedation for anxious pets, as eventually discovered by the client, is a key service that can significantly improve the quality of care for difficult-to-treat animals.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1All the staff were incredible! My dog gets very anxious at the vet but they made her feel so comfortable and she did great. Highly recommend!
July 22 · Ali BurnettMy dog has been a patient at VCA for about 4–5 years. While the staff have always been pleasant, I’ve consistently felt underwhelmed by the level of care. After just two visits with a new vet, it became clear how much of a disservice my dog was receiving over the years.Benji is a 5-year-old, 70 lb pit bull mix. He’s a gentle dog overall but highly anxious, especially at the vet. His anxiety often made exams difficult, sometimes impossible, which led to incomplete visits and repeat appointments just to finish basic care. These visits cost hundreds of dollars and often left us with little to no progress. On top of that, scheduling follow-ups was a challenge, with availability sometimes over a month out.Until today, he was overdue for vaccines. He has a torn ACL and osteoarthritis that hasn’t been reevaluated in years. Despite his records noting osteoarthritis, there was never a plan put in place for pain management. I brought up sedation as an option many times due to his anxiety, but it was either brushed off or made to seem overly complicated. Instead, we were told to try pre-medicating him, which we did, but his adrenaline often overpowered the medication. When urgent issues came up, we had no choice but to go to the ER, (VCA Weymouth) Even then, care was inadequate. For example, he had a severe ear infection and was sent home with nothing but ear wash—no thorough cleaning or treatment. We’ve now visited a new vet twice. During the first visit, I explained Benji’s temperament and anxiety. As expected, he was highly agitated. The vet came up with a plan to bring him back in a week for a sedated visit. At today’s appointment, he was sedated, received a full exam, all of his vaccines, and x-rays that confirmed his arthritis is now present in both legs. His ears were also properly cleaned and treated for a bacterial infection and yeast. Most importantly, we finally established a pain management plan that includes a daily medication and a joint supplement. It’s incredibly frustrating that something so simple took years, multiple failed visits, and so much time and money.
July 28 · Stephanie WilliamsI have been a client at the VCA in Quincy since 1997. My pets always receive excellent care. The veterinarians are outstanding. The support staff is fantastic. Our pets deserve the very best, and that is what they get at the VCA in Quincy. Patricia Kelley
July 03 · Patricia KelleyFellow pet parents stay away from this whole company let alone this hospital. Go to banfield and sign up for their care plan.I was a VCA customer from the moment I got my baby cat in 2020. I started at VCA city cats Arlington and then went to this place. I have never been scammed out of so much money. It’s truly such a disappointment to know these people will let’s things get worst before the get better.I thought my cat was having a hard time with the fact that I had a baby in 2024 she’s one now.. He wasn’t eating and I expressed all of my concerns. They suggested a blood test and charged 340.00 nothing was done other than a general evaluation and some injections. I was there 20 min at most (the blood test not included in the cost)After reading the test and speaking to the clinic i was told my cat had gingivitis. I was so confused as to how this slipped the doctors mind after expressing his weird eating habits and expecting good care this expensive company. when I called to complain of this oversight instead of being offered actual help I was told offered their VCA care plan (thats wouldn’t cover the suggested exams) for 175 a month. Then I asked for a quote for the exams and I was quoted 500 for blood panel and 2000 for teeth cleaning. I couldn’t believe It.. in this economy. After researching I found BANFIELD. They charged me 85 month plus their one time membership fee….for a care plan that includes the blood work teeth cleaning and the urine analysis I had to do because we kept getting abnormal results.. currently I have a cat with STAGE TWO kidney disease my cat is 5 years old and a pure bread bengal ..he’s too young to be going through this. He’s probably been dealing with this for a while - under their care and VCA never ever suggested blood work or poop sample or anything remotely close to be seen as routine work in his whole life. They never suggested teeth cleaning..ever. It absolutely ridiculous to think that I paid so much for “quality of care” and all I got was horrible care and wasted so much money. They wait for crap to hit the fan so they can charge you an arm and a leg. From a broken hearted cat mom.VCA you know who I am. Don’t contact me unless it’s with a refund
July 10 · VANESSA DURANMay 2025 update below. On their website, there is a coupon to get your first wellness exam for free. A couple days before our first exam, we got an email with things to do before your first visit. One of those things on the list is to bring a stool sample with you. At the end she said I had to pay $97.35 for the stool sample, which apparently is separate from the wellness exam (again...supposed to be free). So that seemed intentionally misleading and kinda pissed me off.Additionally, the email said don't forget to bring home your new patient kit (like a goodie bag), with parasite prevention and more. To me that sounds like they're giving some free flea/tick prevention like frontline or a seresto collar or something right? Nope. It was a brochure about parasites. Also I repeatedly said throughout the exam to 3 different people that my dog is allergic to chicken and turkey so I brought my own treats for him during the exam. At the end, I open the goodie bag and there's a small bag of chicken flavored dog food in there. I'm sure I can find a shelter who will take the food, but really???Maybe it was all just a bad first impression. But I would suggest they change the wording in that pre-exam email so they don't mislead more people to believe their first exam will be free - only to find out they actually have to fork over 100 bucks at the end for a stool sample.May 2025 update:I'm updating my review from 2 stars to 5. Like I mentioned in my previous review, there were some experiences that really didn't go well and that is still concerning. However, my dog and I recently had our second visit here and it went very well. I was extremely impressed with Dr. Stella and the rest of the care team. I mentioned in my first review that our first appointment could have just been a bad first impression, and I think that's exactly what it was, because we had a positive experience this time from the beginning to the end. I'm glad I decided to go back and give it another try. I would recommend VCA Quincy and highly recommend Dr. Stella.
