I called right away, and the employee told me they often have issues with those bottles and have to double-check that the caps are tight. They told me to come back, that they would give me a new one, wrote down my name, and told me who I had spoken with so I could ask for them. They gave me no further instructions.When I got to the store, the worker couldn’t find my name but said it was fine and let me have the replacement. I am in the system with a membership, so they could have looked me up for further verification if needed.As I was walking out of the store, a woman who seemed to be a manager stopped me and asked, “What’s going on?” I explained the situation again. She immediately got defensive and asked where my original product was. I told her I hadn’t thought to bring it because the bottle was empty and in the trash, and the employee I had spoken to told me to just come in (I had forgotten her name). The manager’s tone turned rude, loud, and snappy, drawing attention from other customers. She said, “When you get a new product, you should bring back the old product. It’s common sense.”I kept apologizing, explaining that the employee hadn’t told me to bring it in, but she repeated herself over and over, making me feel stupid and small. I felt awful, thinking I may have gotten the original employee in trouble because the manager said she would be calling her later. I was embarrassed, probably turning red, and my social anxiety made the situation even harder.I don’t know if she thought I was trying to steal, but I promise I was not attempting to steal a litter deodorizer. This was already inconvenient, and I wasn’t asking for a refund—just a replacement. The first worker made it clear that this product has issues like this all the time.Please speak to customers with respect and kindness. You never know what kind of day someone is having. Making someone feel small and stupid for simply following instructions is unnecessary. You could have educated me without raising your voice. This experience was unpleasant and emotionally triggering. Being treated like a child by someone in a position of authority was not okay.I will not be returning to this store, and I truly hope this woman treats her workers better. The original employee had an under-shave and wore her hair up. Based on the authority in her voice, I believe the woman who confronted me was a manager, so I didn’t even bother calling to complain.I am young, and I guess I didn’t realize I should have brought the empty bottle back to the store—but I know now. Thank you for teaching me that.
August 13 · CieraMarian is great, I recently began fostering a stray cat and she was very helpful in getting things set up for me and explaining each thing. Everyone said cats are easy and I laughed at the idea of a cat fountain until I noticed the cat wasn't drinking much. After some research I've came back since and got a fountain, treats, litter pan etc.She also explained all of the vaccinations and Petcos plans to me, with an easy to read flyer.The sophresh litter refill station is great, I'm pretty big on recycling and thought about the Costco bag of freshstep but the Sophresh comes out to about the same price, is a nice resealable jug with handle and gives me a reason to go pickup new treats. Very clean, quiet and lots of products to browse. Thanks again Marian!

A second employee walked past me headed towards the break room. It was a third employee who vaguely waived me toward the item I asked for. I a over six feet tall, it is not like they didn't see me. It felt unprofessional.
