I’ve never written a review before, but after the horrifying experience I had at this vet, I feel I need to warn others. I took my 5 lb stray cat, who is the sweetest thing (never hisses, bites, or scratches), to this place, and it was an absolute nightmare. All I wanted was for her to get proper care, but when I first called, I felt off. The woman on the phone didn’t ask for my name, phone number, or any basic info, she only asked if my cat was “sweet.” That immediately felt weird, but I was desperate and just wanted my cat to be okay.Looking back now, I wonder if I’d said she wasn’t “sweet,” would she have received better care? Dr. Strazza, the vet who treated her, was rough and aggressive with my tiny, fragile cat. He yanked her out of her carrier like she was some kind of wild animal. He swung his arm back and jabbed her with a shot without even explaining what it was for, and didn’t do any proper testing, no blood work, no ultrasound, nothing. My cat had a 106F fever (way higher than a normal cat’s temperature) and was obviously very sick. Dr. Strazza told me she “maybe has pneumonia,” but when I asked why she might have it, or what caused it, his answer was “I don’t know.” That was it.I can’t believe I walked out of there with no answers, but that night, she got worse. I felt sick knowing I’d just left her in the hands of this man. I immediately called another vet (one I’ve trusted with my dog), and when they took her temperature, it was 106.4F. Within minutes, five vets rushed to her side, took blood, did an ultrasound, and started an IV. Her fever began to drop, and they diagnosed her with a life threatening stomach infection, not pneumonia like Dr. Strazza guessed. If we hadn’t taken her to this second vet, she would’ve died overnight. Dr. Strazza’s negligence, rough treatment, and complete lack of care almost cost my cat her life. He couldn’t even bother to do the basic tests needed to properly diagnose her. His behavior was unprofessional, and his “treatment” was cruel. If you value your pet, do not take them here. I regret every moment of trusting this vet with my cat’s care. - Chloe Gallet

Animal Hospital Introduce

For pet owners in New York, selecting a veterinary clinic is a decision of great importance, as it directly impacts the health and well-being of our cherished animal companions. In Pearl River, Animal Hospital serves the community by providing a facility for pet healthcare. The clinic is an animal hospital, a type of facility that typically offers a wide range of services for pet owners. Whether for a routine check-up, a planned procedure, or an unexpected health concern, a local animal hospital is often the first point of contact for many families. The goal is to provide a place where pets can receive the care they need to live healthy lives.

The location of any service provider is crucial for convenience, especially in a region as bustling as New York. Animal Hospital is situated at 286 N Middletown Rd, Pearl River, NY 10965, USA. This address makes it a central point of care for residents of Pearl River and the surrounding areas. When it comes to accessibility, the hospital offers a wheelchair accessible parking lot. This feature ensures that individuals with mobility challenges can more easily access the facility and bring their pets in for care. The clinic’s operational model is based on "appointments recommended," which is a common practice in veterinary medicine. This approach helps the clinic manage patient flow and ensures that each pet receives a scheduled, dedicated amount of time with the veterinarian, reducing long wait times for clients.

As a local animal hospital, the clinic provides a range of veterinary services to the community. While the provided information is limited in detail, the nature of an animal hospital suggests the following services are typically offered.

  • General Pet Care: This includes routine examinations and check-ups, which are vital for preventive health. These appointments allow veterinarians to monitor a pet's health over time and catch potential issues early.

  • Medical Treatment: Animal hospitals are equipped to diagnose and treat various illnesses and injuries. This can involve administering medications, performing diagnostic tests, and developing treatment plans for both common and complex conditions.

  • Surgery: As an animal hospital, it would be expected to perform surgical procedures, from routine spay and neuter operations to more complex soft tissue or emergency surgeries. These services are a key component of a full-service veterinary facility.

  • Preventive Care: This category generally includes essential services such as vaccinations, deworming, and parasite prevention. These are core components of keeping a pet healthy and protected from diseases.

The features and highlights of this animal hospital are best understood through the experiences of its clients. The reviews available show contrasting perspectives on the care provided, which can be useful for potential clients seeking to form their own opinion.

  • Focused on Appointments: The clinic’s operational model of "appointments recommended" is a highlight for many who prefer a structured and planned visit. This system can lead to a more efficient experience and dedicated time with the veterinarian.

  • Wheelchair Accessible Parking: The provision of a wheelchair accessible parking lot is a thoughtful feature that demonstrates the clinic's consideration for clients with special needs, making it easier for them to bring their pets in for care.

  • Contrasting Client Experiences: Customer reviews indicate a range of experiences. One review praises the veterinarian, Dr. Strazza, for being "great" and "no nonsense and efficient," noting that he "always makes time" for their senior dog. This suggests a direct and focused approach that some clients appreciate. However, another review describes a "horrifying experience," citing a lack of basic diagnostic tests for a very sick cat and a "rough and aggressive" demeanor. The review highlights a significant contrast in the quality of care and communication from one visit to another, which is a factor for potential clients to consider.

  • Payment Options: A key detail mentioned in a review is that the doctor only takes "cash and checks." This is an important piece of information for clients to be aware of before their visit to ensure a smooth transaction.

As highlighted by one satisfied customer, the veterinarian is valued for their direct care and ability to make time for their senior dog. For individuals who appreciate a straightforward and quick visit for their pet's needs, this could be a suitable option. However, it is also important for potential clients to be aware of the contrasting experiences shared by other reviewers. The details about the lack of diagnostic tests and the reported demeanor in one account are significant concerns that highlight the variability of care.
