While Banfield Pet Hospital is a large corporate entity, the Glendale location possesses key features and highlights that are important for local pet owners to consider.
- Comprehensive Support: One of the most significant features is the ability of the staff to provide thorough support, as seen in a customer review regarding a dog with a grade 6 heart murmur. The staff helped the owner find the right medication and manage symptoms without the need for higher-level care.
- Cost-Saving Assistance: The staff at this specific location helped facilitate cost savings on prescriptions, a crucial point for pet owners managing chronic conditions.
- On-site Pharmacy: The presence of a veterinary pharmacy is a major highlight, simplifying the process of getting necessary medications and products.
- Accessibility: The clinic is wheelchair-accessible, making it a convenient choice for all members of the community.

What is worth choosing about this Banfield Pet Hospital location? The answer lies in the specific experiences of its clients, which paint a complex but insightful picture. The positive review from a local pet owner in Glendale highlights the clinic's ability to provide "thorough support" and "tremendous help" for a pet with a serious chronic condition. The staff's effort to educate the owner on plan coverage and help facilitate cost savings on prescriptions is a powerful testament to their commitment to client well-being and affordability. This personalized and attentive care is a significant reason why a pet owner would choose to return to this specific location. The convenience of their on-site veterinary pharmacy also stands out, as it allows for a seamless process of getting prescriptions and other pet products without the need for an extra trip.
However, it is crucial for a local user to be aware of the negative review, which details a distressing experience with the company's Optimum Wellness Plan and their billing practices. This review, though not specifically for the Glendale location but for a Banfield in general, raises important questions about the overall corporate policies and customer service. The issues of no-show veterinarians, miscommunication, and billing disputes that led to collections are serious concerns that a potential client should be mindful of. It underscores the importance of thoroughly understanding the terms of any wellness plan, confirming appointments, and keeping meticulous records. The discrepancy between the two reviews—one highlighting excellent, personalized medical care and the other detailing a frustrating and expensive administrative nightmare—suggests that the experience can vary greatly. For a pet owner in Arizona, this means that while the on-site care at the Glendale location may be excellent, as evidenced by the positive review, it is still part of a larger corporate system that has its own challenges. Therefore, choosing Banfield should be a thoughtful decision, where the benefits of a well-equipped, accessible, and often compassionate local team are weighed against the potential for corporate-level service issues.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Never get their insurance plan. I brought in my 12 year old kitty and a friends chihuahua and started the plan for both. I told them the chihuahua was not my dog, too. Well, they just had check ups done. Basic blood work. The Chihuahua was 13 and she was getting distressed at night breathing so I made an appointment at a Banfield in Goodyear. My friend took her. When he arrived they told him sorry the appointment can't happen because no Vet came in today. So they sent him to a different place. Well, it wasn't a Banfield where he had insurance, it was a place that did blood work again and charged $787 for it, $150 just to have a Vet look at her. My friend called in a panic with the bill, so I had to cover it. I call Banfield and told them I was furious. I made an appointment, no doctor showed and they sent my confused friend to a high dollar vet. Not another Banfield that the appointment and blood work, already done 1 week before. Well, the Chihuahua died one month later. My kitty also passed around the same time. So I canceled my insurance. Now they say I owe them $1400. AND sent it to collections times 2. So they sent a collection for each animal separately that were on the same account. My credit took a dive 49 points. I am so pissed.
May 26 · pamela cassiseto clarify, this review is for the banfield stand alone location on 5149 W Olive Ave Suite 100, Glendale, AZ 85302. my dog was diagnosed with a grade 6 heart murmur in 2024 and started to show signs of decline in october. the providers have provided us with thorough support during this phase in his condition to find the right medication combination and manage his symptoms without a needing higher level of care. banfield staff educated us on plan coverage based his current needs and helped facilitate cost savings on prescriptions with chewy. overall, the experience has been a tremendous help for our dog's situation. i hope this review provides some insight for local pet owners.
March 26 · Monique SDO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO ANY BANFIELD LOCATION.They cancelled/rescheduled almost every appointment I’ve made then rescheduled us with different doctors who do not listen or even read the previous visit notes. Basically urgent care for your pet. Don’t expect a resolution. Their OWP plan is an absolute scam and doesn’t cover anything other than routine visits; they don’t make it clear that it’s a year contract. My poor dog has been battling extreme allergies for over a year with no resolution from Banfield. Banfield has been prescribing medications that are not fit for the size/weight of my dog and therefore, are not effective. My dog is worse off than he was when I started this journey with Banfield.I highly recommend finding a local vet. Western Animal Hospital is amazing and has an extremely knowledgeable vet. I learned more standing in the lobby than anything Banfield has ever provided me. Costs less out of pocket than Banfield AND they provide the medications needed at the office prior to leaving.
July 28 · Morgan TalleyI’ve bounced around from different Banfield locations and like anywhere else they have their issues. I got talked into getting the OWP for my puppy without much explanation at the 91st and olive location. I called this location today to ask questions and Alexis was very helpful!
July 11 · Imani ArnoldI was hesitant to go to a new location, but it turned out great! Chloe was taken care of for her routine wellness check, she came home with instructions on how to take care of her for her after her teeth cleaning and anesthesia. I highly recommend 🐶🐾
