September 03 · Theresa GomesUPDATE: The owner of the clinic and lead vet, Dr. Tricia Glazier, called us following the posting of our Google Review, asking us to anonymize the vets responsible for our dog's surgery. We agreed to do so, contingent upon accountability to be taken to improve care. After over three weeks of inaction, we have reinstated the details, below. How EAH handled our dog's case was unethical on myriad levels. It is our responsibility to share our experience so that others can proceed accordingly. Our twelve-year-old dog had surgery at EAH for a presumed cancerous growth removal. The vet who had seen our dog prior to surgery, Dr. Nicole Batchelder, was not at EAH the day of surgery. Over several conversations, it became clear that what we had discussed with Dr. Batchelder was never communicated with Dr. Glazier, nor correspondingly the visiting surgeon, Dr. Catherine Reese. It appears as though there was no review of our dog's case prior to the surgery itself, despite us having done extensive "lumps and bumps" mapping with Dr. Batchelder and EAH's vet techs at prior visits. The day of surgery they anesthetized our dog before checking the tumors to be removed, which ended up being inoperable. When asked why they did not check the surgical plan with the surgeon in advance of anesthetizing her, we were given multiple unsatisfactory answers. Mind you, I had dropped the dog off at 8am and the first call I received from Dr. Glazier was at 1:30pm, after our dog was already anesthetized. Had there been any questions about her surgical plan, or anything that needed to be discussed prior to her being on the operating table, there was ample time to do so both that day, and leading up to the day of surgery itself.During several conversations in the days following her surgery, Dr. Glazier stated that they normally ask for complicated cases to be re-seen right before surgery, yet no such request was made in our case. Again, it became evident that there was no communication between and amongst the EAH veterinarians responsible for our dog's care.Further, they removed a tumor on her back that we did not consent to. I had consented verbally via phone to have a small tumor under her collar removed, which I knew was bothering her. They did not remove that one; alternatively, they took off a massive, benign cyst-like tumor on her back that resulted in a large wound to heal. I didn't learn of this tumor's removal until I picked her up that evening. The tumor they removed was never discussed as an issue before the day of surgery, and was never in the surgical plan. I had confirmed which tumor they were taking no less than three times on the phone.Had we known that the tumors in her shoulder were inoperable before her being anesthetized, we never would have agreed to surgery, biopsies, benign tumor removals, etc. After several conversations, Dr. Glazier, promised that they would update their surgical protocols moving forward to mitigate harm. We had hoped this to be true, yet conversely, the follow-up communication we have received in the following weeks not only lacked accountability but was deflective, manipulative, gaslighting, and silencing. This was particularly evident in an email we received from their manager, Brittany Durant, who wasn't even on site during the surgery and whose first contact with us wasn't until a month post-op.Our final communications with them included them asking us to sign a waiver of liability in exchange for a partial refund, and included the following: "I understand that accepting this refund for miscommunication regarding which growth to remove on 6/17/25 further releases any and all liability related to this surgery".Needless to say, we will not be signing any document that absolves Emmerson from accountability. Their demand for silence and compliance speaks volumes about their practice. We will continue advocating for our dog's care alongside the ethical care of all animals.
July 19 · Marian BrownI had to euthanize my 20 year old cat last Tuesday. I am deeply grateful to every member of Emerson’s veterinary team for the warmth and kindness shared with me and my dear girl. They took wonderful and expert care of her in her final years and the vets were always thoughtful and kind in our discussions. Even when I moved another 3 miles away last year I continued her care with the hospital.I have just received a sympathy card signed by the team. It included my Janna’s paw prints. It was wholly unexpected and I am in tears. The hospital and team are gems 🙏🏾
July 24 · Melissa SparksI have had wonderful experiences at this vet. I have taken my cat and her three surviving kittens to this place the staff has always been so kind. I got the mother cat microchipped there for $75.I was also able to get my cat fully vaccinated at this clinic at very reasonably priced rate and got two of her kittens their first round of boosters as well. Also wanted to mention the time they gave me a nice carrier they allowed me to keep.I got the mother cat Spay Surgery the pre-surgical blood work was $115 and The Spay It’s self was around $900. I am very pleased with their work because my cat had a heart murmur and was in heat at the time of surgery so I was really worried about her prior to the surgery but they reassured me and took excellent care of her and she has since continued to heal up perfectly. I’m really grateful for this clinic and I intend to keep coming back to this clinic for my cat and one of her kittens for as long as possible.I also just got my cat’s Male 17 Week Old Kitten Neuter Surgery At This Clinic. The Neuter was extremely reasonably priced and he has been recovering very well so far.
