★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Two Sundays ago, my wife and I brought my 15 year old dog Goober in, when it was clear she wasn’t doing well. We ended up having to say Goodbye to Goober that day. Exactly one week later, this past Sunday, our other dog Darling who was 13, who had been grieving deeply since Goober’s death, was clearly not in a good spot. We brought her in and found internal bleeding and a mass and ended up having to say goodbye to Darling as well. They were bonded for the last 13 years and even though we are devastated, we are glad they aren’t having to live without the other and in pain.Ocean State was nothing short of incredible. We have Dr. St. Germaine with both of our girls and she was so kind and patient and compassionate. Brooke, Liz, Cheryl, Beth and others on staff were so kind and understanding. We hated to say goodbye to our girls, especially so close together, but we are grateful to have such wonderful staff. Today, we were surprised with flowers from OS, and are so grateful for the care.We probably won’t be ready for another dog for a while, but when the time comes, this will be where we will come for care.
May 28 · Stephanie BrashearI brought my dog in after hours after he was hit by a car. They brought him in right away and started treating him. They were very communicative in letting us know what was going on and sympathetic as well. As every vet bill is expensive, especially in emergency situations, they were very accommodating in helping us figure out payment. We are so very appreciative of their care. Thankyou so much❤️.
August 25 · Jahphina PearceAlmeidaThis place is A#1. I brought my Kobe there bc he was at the end of his life. They handled us with such care. And if you are fortunate enough to get your pet’s remains, they are given to you in a very nice package. You can choose an urn and they give you locks of hair and your baby’s paw print on paper. I am so pleased. Thank you OSVS!
July 04 · Shemeeka Spratt (Shimmyshimmy75)On June 16, 2025, my dog Piglet presented with bloody diarrhea and vomit, along with weakness and pale gums. I called Ocean State ahead of time to let them know I was coming. I was crying on the phone with them, and the woman who answered was very kind and compassionate. She checked me in quickly and as soon as I arrived they took Piglet to the back with them. I was only in the waiting room for an hour before I got to speak with a vet. Piglet was diagnosed with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, and needed supportive care overnight (with the potential of needing to stay for days - a week). I was also crying in the room with the vet (it was very stressful) and she was understanding and patient. She explained everything to me in detail and assured me Piglet would be in good hands. They allowed me to see Pig before I left that day (she was getting fluids and was surrounded by vet techs loving on her and giving her attention), and followed up with an email the next morning. In the email they updated me and even included a picture. I felt bad that I had dropped Piglet off without a blanket or a toy, but in the picture I saw they had given her a blanket. She looked sad, but comfortable. I got a call from the vet that afternoon and was lucky enough to take her home that day as she responded quickly to treatment. Yes, the experience was stressful. Yes, nobody wants to bring their pet to the ER. Yes, it was expensive. None of this is the fault of Ocean State Vet, and they did everything in their power to alleviate stress from their human (me) and animal (Pig) patient. I have pet insurance and they put a rush on the itemized final bill so I could submit it ASAP. Look into pet insurance (SPOT is my recommendation) and it will also help in these stressful times. I’m so grateful for Ocean State Vet and all of their phenomenal employees. I would bring any animal in distress to this ER. I added the photo they sent me, as well as one of her feeling much better two weeks after her visit.
June 28 · Emily RoseOur experience was not great. The doctors here seemed more concerned about how we could pay for our puppy's treatment rather than saving him. They kept suggesting that we just put him to sleep for his benefit and we were so distraught having lost his brother the day before that we took their advice and let him go so he wouldn't suffer. But later when we had a chance to calm down and reassess things we realized that what they pressured us to do was wrong. His brother was really sick and not responding so we knew it was the right choice for him, but Bam Bam was alert and responding to us and I don't think he had what they said. They said even with treatment they didn't think he would survive so rather than let him get worse and feel the same pain his brother had experienced we did what they suggested. So please if you have to bring your baby somewhere and you have the means and the time I would suggest Coventry Animal Hospital on NooseNeck Hill Rd in East Greenwich they were very compassionate and they never once told us that euthanasia was the best choice for our baby.
