I was frequenting this store about 3 to 4 times a week, getting kitten supplies and cat food but my last two experiences at the West Bountiful store have been a nightmare.The first one the merchandising manager treats me like it's an inconvenience to have to look to see if the kitten food I buy multiple times a week is in. Then she flippantly tells me that it's not in and that they're not ordering it anymore. Rude.Then last night someone else I perceived to be in a manager or an assistant manager long dark hair, big doe eyes and black tattoos all over her arms. Accuses me of stealing cat litter that I brought into fill!I bring the cats container of litter into the store go to the back to fill it, go to the counter to pay for the refill and this lady accuses me of it looking new. I said I'm sorry it looks new but you can check your cameras, I came in with it and then she continued to say little snide remarks about how the thing looked new! I mean if she wanted to she could have checked the serial numbers against the multiple purchase I make every freaking week!if they have some sort of policy where they're supposed to remove the wrappers from the refillable cat litter containers they need to do that because they cannot go around accusing innocent people of stealing!! I am so offended by this and I have called the corporate and I will not stop until a complaint is filed.It's a shame because I had an amazing experience at the Petco vet in SugarHouse but I will never step foot into a Petco ever again in my life.I need an owner, I need a general manager to get a hold of me because I promise I will not stop until I get to talk to someone that's the head of that West Bountiful store. I have worked in customer service the majority of my 43 years on this planet and I have never experienced that sort of rudeness ever.
September 12 · Corrie LeaEvery time I go here, I am always so impressed with the quality of the employees and the store. There is one employee that always goes above and beyond. Her name is Grace. She's attentive, polite, engaged and nice. I appreciate how knowledgeable about the store she is and how she goes the extra mile to help me know what would be good for my pets and what would be a waste of money. It is rare to see employees of big box stores take such ownership and passion for their wares and for their charges. The times I have seen her in the store, she has been so capable in helping not only me and other customers, but also other employees and especially the animals there. I can't help but feel a contagious enthusiasm when I am around her. If you find her, I am sure she will help you with what you need. Cheers!
May 24 · Stephen RobinsonI’ve been here a couple times to try to stock my aquarium. Employees are usually hard to come by and if you do see one, they seem to try to avoid eye contact so as not to help you. The other day I had the worst experience I’ve ever had there. I was looking for an employee to help me get some aquarium plants. I took a lap around the store but wasn’t going to hunt all over, nor did I have the time, so I grabbed the plants I wanted and was putting them in the bag to go pay for them when an employee came over and said, “Yeeeeaaah, let’s not do that.” I asked what I was doing wrong and he said “Just reaching in and grabbing whatever you want”. I politely explained that I looked for an employee but couldn’t find one so I decided to just handle it myself. He was not apologetic and extremely rude and sarcastic. I suggest training employees to apologize to the customer for not being available rather than treating them like school children who are misbehaving. Honestly, if he had handled the interaction differently at any point I would have been more understanding and might have even apologized for my part in that I didn’t take more time to find an employee but he didn’t seem interested in anything but telling me how awful I was. I will not be back. My experiences at Petsmart in Centerville and SLC have been infinitely more positive. Save yourself the headache and drive the extra 5-10 minutes to have a better experience.
April 13 · Nikki CI am going to rate Petco three stars for this visit specifically.They went to get some canned dog food and they had several options on clearance. So I picked four or five and went up to pay. After scanning the canned dog food only one of them was listed as a clearance item. I let the cashier know that they all were on clearance and he said well they're not showing up that way. I asked him if I should go back and take pictures and he says yeah you better. So I did it added a good 15 minutes to my visit here. I'm not going to rate anything else except for that experience with the cashier. It wasn't even busy he could have gone back with me to help he could have done so much more than what he did. He was a lazy young man.
