However, it is also important to consider that every client's experience is unique. As with any medical practice, wait times can sometimes be a challenge, as noted by a client who felt the wait was "excessive" on two separate occasions. Similarly, policies can be a point of friction. One review details a very frustrating experience where a patient was discharged from the practice due to a disagreement over a hospital policy regarding a choke collar. While this is a serious and upsetting incident for the client involved, it is an example of a policy-driven decision that every business, particularly in a medical context, must make. It highlights the importance of open communication and understanding clinic protocols before a visit. Despite this isolated incident, the hospital's reputation is built on its comprehensive services and the compassionate care provided by many of its doctors, as highlighted by other positive experiences. For Connecticut residents seeking a clinic that offers a wide range of services in a welcoming environment, Powder Ridge Veterinary Hospital remains a strong and capable option, provided that patients are prepared to work within the hospital's established procedures to ensure the best possible care for their beloved companions.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve been visiting powder ridge with my senior samoyed Tia. I chose to visit this vet due to her veterinarian Dr.Reeves switching clinics, Tia has been with him for 13 years and I assumed the switch would benefit myself and my beloved dog. My experience was positive up until my visit today which was only to receive a shot for her arthritis pain. It was a visit that should have been quick and easy. Upon arrival the tech demanded that they put a choke collar on her as we were waiting at the visiting room door. They said it is policy to put on the choke collar which restricts when the animals pulls away or someone pulls the animal and is used to create slight pain in order to control an animal. My dog tia is elderly and has pain as is not to mention she is extremely well behaved and docile. I was shocked by this demand due to not having to do this at prior visits and the simple fact that we were already standing at the door entrance of the room! I told them no they would not be putting that on her it would upset her and she plain and simple did not need it! Upon being told I would not be allowing them to put the choke collar on the tech got the manager who doubled down on this demand and humiliated me by arguing over this in front of all the staff as well as all other patients in the waiting area. They then told me they will not be seeing tia today and would refund the price of the shot she was there to receive! They weren’t even certain how to preform the refund. After refunding the amount on my card they shocked me farther by stating they would not be allowing tia to return as a patient after this visit! I am beyond frustrated and feel disrespected by this experience. My dog is in her elderly years and I only want her to be treated kindly and respectfully which apparently this clinic was incapable of. I would never return or recommend this vet office to anyone! Kindness and patience is not a lot to ask for especially when working with pets!
July 01 · Anna K D’AnnaMy wife brought our cat Donna in for a wellness and possible vaccines. Donna has an unusual skin condition no one is absolutely sure what it is. My wife requested the vaccines be held off for another visit until we had a better diagnosis. This request was honored. My wife also respectfully brought up information she researched about this skin condition and Dr. Michael was in no way intimidated and listened intently. She recommended a better shampoo, prescribed medication for her ears and advised us to make an appointment for her vaccines and a recheck. Dr. Michael was very thorough and kind, my wife enjoyed meeting her but felt she waited too long to be seen. Donna improved greatly, her ears and fur are much prettier and cleaner. However, when we brought her back in for the vaccines, I felt we waited too long to be seen. We should have been in and out. However, overall we have had good experiences but I had to give four stars because of the excessive wait times.
August 30 · George RodriguezGreat serviceMy cat needed surgery to remove bladder stones, and I couldn't afford the prices at most surgical centers, including with our primary office. Powder Ridge fit us in within a week, did the tests in the same appointment, and got my cat scheduled for surgery within 2 weeks. My cat did great coming out of surgery, and they babied him all day. They also gave super clear instructions, and at his follow up visit the vet took great care to answer all of my questions - big and small. The staff at the desk, the techs, and the vets I saw were all top tier. Friendly, considerate, helpful, and receptive when I had questions or concerns. They're everything you want in an office and now my cat is on the road to recovery in comfort. I'm endlessly thankful.
February 04 · Caitlyn MonterossoWe switched to this vet later in our dogs life, but I wish we were with them the whole time! Everyone is so kind, and they really made sure to keep things low-anxiety. There is no waiting room, you call when you get there and then they bring you in (this was really important to me as my dog becomes anxious in waiting rooms with other animals). They are priced very reasonably, and you can tell they are there for the love of the animal. We had to put our dog down, and while it was a horrible moment, they really put a lot of love into it and we couldn't be more grateful.
May 28 · Kelley BreyerGreat staff and Doctors. Dr. Carey was very caring and answered my questions patiently (even with follow up call)The whole staff is great. Our tech was so friendly. My scared cat took to her and she was very sweet to my cat.
