Heart of Harlem Veterinary Clinic Reviews
I went to Harlem Vet yesterday 9/6/25 for the first time. I must say the staff was very friendly, the assistant Eddie was extremely helpful as well as knowledgeable. Doctor Yousef was also very knowledgeable & explained everything very detailed. Nonetheless, he was very gentle with my fur baby Isaiah. Who is 8 pounds and can be feisty at times lol. Thank you for your amazing service! Most definitely we will be back and this is Isaiah‘s new vet 😊

February 01 · Diomarys MartinezToday was definitely the last straw for me. Most of the staff is fantastic and the vets are great except for Dr. Sola. He is the absolute worse. Every visit I have had with him has been unpleasant and he undermines me. Let me give you an example with today. Milo, my golden doodle has been licking his anal for probably a day or so max. Nothing else. Nothing extreme. Because I am very aware and will know if a single hair is misplaced from my dog, I will KNOW. I take better care of him than myself. To put into perspective. I looked at his anal just before I took him. A little swollen but no redness or anything of that nature. No irritation, just a little bit swollen. So I scheduled a visit today for an anal gland expression. Again his anal looked fine. After the nurse came out with Milo I checked his anal. It was insanely swollen and red. A little bit of blood. I immediately was alarm. Ever time Milo has had this done it gets a tiny pink light red ish but NEVER TO THIS DEGREE! It looked bad. Dr. Sola overheard me ask if there was anything they could put on it because it never looked this bad before. He came and asked what was the matter. I expressed my concern and he proceeded to tell me that with all his years of work a dog has never turned red afterwards. Which immediately was a lie because a few visit ago during the winter I took Milo to the vet about his paws. With that visit I also asked to be showed how to express the glands myself just in case I was brave enough to do it. Clearly I’m not brave enough yet so I took him in. With that visit I had asked that vet if a little redness was okay and she said was. That it’s a bit irritated because we joked “a finger was just in there ya know” so it can happen. So back to current. I told Sola that Milo’s anal was fine prior to the visit and it was not red. He tried to tell me that it had to been red prior already or the procedure did something to a matter that is already there. None of it made sense to me what he was saying. He has always tried to tell me how he knows my dog best and what I am saying is incorrect. How do you tell me what I am saying and seeing is wrong?! He is so rude and doesn’t really want to hear what I am trying to tell him. Just like a doctor, we can take their advice but we know our bodies best. Milo has never ever looked like that afterwards. And what made me the most upset was, why didn’t the nurse say like “hey we did the expression but Milo’s anal is red and swollen now. Keep an eye on it. It’s not normal for it to be like that afterwards”. I mean if it isn’t normal why wouldn’t someone tell me? If they all know best, why wouldn’t someone tell me to keep an eye on it. No I had to look at my dog and immediately say something. I don’t dislike people, I respect everyone but Sola runs me the wrong way. So sad because all the other vets are great but I will no longer take any of my pets here.. so so sad today. I was truly upset and can’t believe what happened. I will be going to Bond Vet who I had a lovely experience with, with my other dog.. so disappointed in what happened today.. and I NEVER WRITE BAD REVIEWS. I just move on but this isn’t the first time. I would like to make people aware is all..
April 17 · Last CryHighly recommend Heart of Harlem for your fur babies. The staff and doctors are amazing. Had to put my baby Gabybto sleep in 2023 and Dr. Sola give me 3 options and discuss throughly every option, plus gave me his honest and painful opinion. He was kind and gentle. I have a new fur baby and without a doubt I brought Nayla to Heart of Harlem. 💜🙏
