What is worth choosing Banfield Pet Hospital?
Choosing a veterinary hospital is one of the most important decisions a pet owner can make, and for residents of California, particularly in the San Bernardino area, Banfield Pet Hospital offers a compelling set of options. The primary reason to consider this location is its strong focus on preventative care. Banfield’s model, often centered around their Optimum Wellness Plans, is designed to make regular, proactive veterinary care accessible and affordable. For many pet owners, these plans provide a structured way to ensure their pets receive all the necessary exams, vaccinations, and diagnostic screenings without the burden of unexpected, large upfront costs. This approach can lead to catching health issues earlier, which often results in better long-term outcomes for pets.
However, it's also important for pet owners to be fully informed. While some customers have found the service to be wonderful and the staff to be great, praising the team's care and the positive experience for their pets, other reviews highlight concerns regarding transparency in pricing and communication. One detailed review points out a confusing experience with a "free" visit coupon and quotes for surgical procedures that did not include all final fees, leading to unexpected charges. This suggests that while the services themselves may be excellent, it is crucial for clients to ask for detailed, final quotes and clarify all potential fees upfront, especially for procedures like spaying or neutering. This level of diligence can help mitigate any confusion and ensure that your experience is as positive as possible. The comprehensive range of services, combined with the focus on preventive health and a commitment to being a welcoming and accessible facility, still makes this Banfield location a worthwhile choice for pet owners who prioritize proactive care and are prepared to be proactive in understanding their billing.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I actually give this a zero star but that’s not an option. First of all when I made an appointment online I received a first visit free coupon. I have 2 dogs so I had to register them both. When the staff called to confirm the appt they stated it was going to be a $89 per dog fee, and at that point I let them know I had the “free” first visit coupon. When we went to check out they told me my total was $178. I then presented the coupon and at that point was told that it was only good for 1 dog. I was never told this when they called to confirm the appt and I mentioned I had the coupon and why would they give a coupon when you make an appt and not be able to use it. Then we scheduled an appt for both my dogs to be spayed and at that time they gave us a “quote”. So when we got a call to confirm their arrival time and preop instructions I was told that they would be charging another $89 per dog for an exam fee on the day of the surgery. I’m confused because what was the initial exam appt for if they had to do another one 2 weeks later and charge more fees. Then when we arrive the day of surgery they weighed my puppies again and to note they were the same weight as two weeks prior. I was given a “quote” again which was same as the one I was given before. They said once the surgery is over we would have the final amount, incase something went wrong. Well I get a call right before my dog is supposed to go into surgery to be told that I will be charged an additional $120 overweight fee. Once again why wasn’t this new fee discussed before on the first exam when the weight of my dog hadn’t changed. And also let me remind you she is a one year old puppy and clearly not overweight. She then proceeded to tell me the price of all the medications they will need to go home on, which apparently isn’t included in the spay initial “quote” they give you, and is another couple hundred dollars more. So in the end the “quote” I was given was nowhere near the final amount. This place is a scam and I will not be returning or referring anyone. I am adding a picture of my puppies and for reference the one on the right with red hat is supposedly “overweight”
September 05 · Adrienne WagnerI am new with Banfield but I do have to say that so far my experiences have been wonderful and my puppy seem to love the staff there. I am excited to see my puppies grow in great health and love with Banfield
April 23 · Lori CullJust terrible! Worst place I have ever gone! The staff was rude when a poor defenseless dog needed their help the most. According to them they where booked for the entire day even tho no one was being seen at the time. The receptionist Amanda, was heartless, snooty, and just plain out disrespectful. I was in town for the weekend and I happened to come across a puppy. He seemed fine until I picked him up and was inspecting him. He was infested with ticks! I was concerned about his safety and decided the best course of action would be to take him to pet Hospital or veterinarian. I used google maps and it told me that Banfild pet hospital was closest in had the mostly good ratings. That was not true what so ever! We ended up taking the puppy somewhere else and he’s doing fine! I decided to keep him and named him Mars!
March 17 · Diego monicoAbsolutely amazing! I took my dog to Banfield after the first veterinarian office I visited after waiting for about an hour told me they weren't going to take her in. I was really upset. I called Banfield and they had appointments same day I took her in and they took care of our baby Rosie. She was really sick. It turns out she has pancreatitis and a little heart murmur. The first photo is the day I took her and she looks so sad and was heartbreaking. The second photo is her follow-up appointment. She's back to being her happy self. Although she may not care for her new diet, she's doing much better and we're happy. Banfield has a phenomenal staff knowledgeable and caring! Thank you to the staff at the San Bernardino Banfield hospital.
March 23 · Ms. IvonneRevised: sadly, upon return for an important follow up to complete shots and etc., , we were denied by the front clerk and told to reschedule even though they were open another 35 minutes and no one was in line. We were literally standing there with a bag of poop to turn in. When we asked to hear it from the vet directly, we were told he was in a meeting. Granted, we were 23 minutes late on account of the giant dog didn't want to go quietly. But it's just poor service when they have plenty of time left on the clock. We will be canceling our service plan and returning what we can of the $2000 we spent there this week. I can't recommend this place to anyone else.
