Heal Veterinary Clinic Introduce
For residents across the Massachusetts region, the bond with a pet is a deeply personal and cherished one. When it comes to veterinary care, finding a clinic that not only provides excellent medical services but also prioritizes a pet's emotional well-being is a true gem. Heal Veterinary Clinic, located in Watertown, has quickly established itself as a leader in this area, offering a unique approach to care that is low-stress, compassionate, and highly personalized. This is not your typical rushed veterinary visit. Heal Vet is designed from the ground up to be a place where both pets and their owners can feel calm and supported. From the moment you walk in, the focus is on creating a positive experience, a philosophy that makes them a standout choice for anyone in the greater Boston area who wants the best for their animal companion.
The core of Heal Veterinary Clinic’s philosophy is its commitment to low-stress animal handling. This isn't just a marketing phrase; it's a practice demonstrated in every aspect of the clinic's operations. The staff, including veterinarians like Dr. Leef and Dr. Therriault, are trained to use gentle techniques, minimal restraint, and positive reinforcement to help pets feel safe. One customer's detailed review perfectly illustrates this, describing how the staff got on the floor with her "wobbly cat" and spent a significant amount of time fawning over him before beginning the exam. This patient, empathetic approach allows them to build trust and perform procedures with minimal stress, a critical factor for animals who have a history of anxiety at the vet. This focus on a calm environment not only benefits the pet but also reduces the stress on the owner, making what can be a difficult experience feel much more manageable.
Heal Veterinary Clinic also stands out for its comprehensive and un-rushed appointments. As one client noted, the clinic spent an entire hour on a routine visit, a stark contrast to other vets who might rush through an appointment in a fraction of the time for the same price. This dedication to thoroughness ensures that every aspect of a pet’s health is addressed. The clinic's commitment to clear communication is also highly valued by clients. They take the time to explain a pet's health history, diagnostic findings, and treatment options, empowering owners to make informed decisions. This transparent and patient-centered approach is a major reason why pet owners feel so comfortable and confident leaving their "baby" in the hands of the Heal Vet team. Furthermore, they are committed to a paperless system, offering a modern and streamlined experience with prompt communication of notes and results.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Went to this vet with my cat for the first time this afternoon. My cat gets very scared at the vet, especially when he is taken away from me to do vaccines/blood work/stuff like that. I was so happy when we ended the visit with only a couple of very small growls during blood draws.I'm a wheelchair user and they were extremely accommodating and it was a fully accessible office. Everybody I spoke to was so welcoming and charismatic. I've moved around quite a bit and have seen lots of vets, and they were by far the best I've seen. Considering previous vets have been in and out of the room as quickly as possible and charge the same for a routine visit exam fee as this vet, who spent an entire hour with us without seeming rushed or preoccupied in any way, did for an initial appointment exam fee, is wild. I cannot stress enough how much better I felt leaving this vet compared to previous vet appointments which have been stressful and rushed for both me and my cat.My cat is my baby, my soulmate, and I hate to see him upset. He has a few health issues and wobbly cat syndrome, so he has seen his fair share of vets, all of whom he has been afraid of. Dr. Leef and Keady were so lovely and won him over pretty quickly. While I'm sure the gabapentin helped, there were a few specific things they did that made my cat feel safe and made me feel like my baby was in good hands:1. They got on the floor with him-- there was no exam table in the room we were in, and they spent a lot of time just petting him and fawning over him before slowly going into the exam portion of the visit. I think getting on his level on the ground, where he feels safest as a cat with wobbly cat syndrome, allowed him to relax more than he ever has on an exam table.2. They listened to me when I said he will let you do anything to him if he has a good enough treat in front of him. They had to poke him quite a few times to draw enough blood (his veins aren't very generous-- not at all the fault of the vet) but he barely noticed because they had built up enough trust with him and gave him some very tasty treats.3. They spent a ton of time with us. They went over his records in advance and were familiar with his somewhat complex history. Their exam was very thorough and they took very thorough notes which they sent me shortly after the visit. In the past, I have had to email other vets several times just to get his lab results, but they had great communication.4. I alluded to this in previous points but want to emphasize that they did everything in the room with me. I think this helped my baby feel much safer because I was there with him and he knows I would never let anyone hurt him. This also made me feel better because I got to see exactly what they did and how gentle they were with him.5. They emphasized how they value low-stress environments and they demonstrated that by using minimal restraint, trying different tricks that likely made their jobs take much longer but allowed my cat to feel safer and calmer.I would highly recommend this vet to absolutely anyone. I look forward to staying with them for as long as my cat and I are in Boston. I've attached photos of my baby because LOOK AT HIM.
May 13 · N GThis was by far the best experience I’ve had at a vet clinic since adopting my dog 6 years ago. My rescue came from a rough past, and has always had severe anxiety at the vet & with strangers. Dr. Therriault was absolutely amazing with him. She was so patient and made sure he was comfortable and calm the entire time. Because of her incredible patience and positive attitude, he was able to receive his vaccine and have blood drawn with minimal issues. I’m extremely satisfied and impressed with my experience here and I’m very thankful to have found a vet I can trust and feel comfortable with. Thank you!
May 13 · Emma RiversI cannot emphasize enough how AMAZING every single person at Heal is! We have a rescue dog who is incredibly timid and scared, and they are consistently calm, patient, and so gentle with him. We also have a cat who can get a little feisty, but all vets and techs take the time to get to know her, butter her up with Churu, and do what they need to do in the most comfortable way possible.I love that the exam rooms are all set up with pet comfort in mind! No cold metal tables, only comfy futons and chairs for pets, and all exams are performed on the ground so that our pets can feel at ease.As for their human interactions, everyone is so kind and communicative. The pricing is more than fair considering how much time and effort they put into each case. I've also appreciated that they are open about what optional treatments/vaccines/etc. they recommend or do not recommend based on our specific circumstances, rather than selling us on anything and everything. The folks at Heal genuinely care about you, your pet, and providing the best care possible.
July 21 · Nicole Y.Kristie and staff are lovely. She delivers helpful information in a kind, pleasant and informational way. She is super sweet, very caring and good with my kitty. Her MA Carol was doll as well. I would highly recommend Dr. Shoolman to anyone. My sister goes to her too for her allergy and incident prone cat too and her and the team are amazing. If you want a thoughtful, honest, fair & reasonable vet you’re in good hands with her. She makes taking the cat to the vet not as bad! lol!
August 06 · Kara LandauerI decided to use this vet clinic because it has the best reviews of the clinics in my area. I also chose it because the outside looks so modern, and it has both easy and free parking. Dr. Kristie is excellent. She did not rush me, and she explained everything in a way that was easily understandable. I loved that a technician transcribed everything that Dr. Kristie said to me. It was then emailed to me. I also appreciate that the owner can stay with his/her pet during the exam. Dr. Kristie was clear about the price range of tests, and did not try to make me feel guilty if I did not do all of the tests. It is an extremely well organized, efficient and thorough clinic. Their email communication is impressive. I was so glad that Dr. Kristie was able to brush out his mats! I met with Jess today, who is one of the vet technicians. She is awesome! She was so calm, kind, knowledgeable, efficient and thorough. I did not feel rushed at all with her. She was also so patient and gentle with my cat. Shortly after my appointment, I received a very thorough email from Jess with everything that we discussed in the appointment. I had a couple of questions that I emailed after my appointment, and she responded to them so quickly and thoroughly! I highly recommend her! Thank you, Jess!
