Massachusetts Animal Medical Center Introduce
When it comes to the health and well-being of our furry, feathered, or scaled family members, finding a reliable and comprehensive care provider is a top priority for pet owners across Massachusetts. In the heart of Watertown, the Massachusetts Animal Medical Center stands as a resource for both veterinary services and pet care products. This facility is not just a veterinarian's office; it is a full-service animal hospital that aims to meet a wide range of needs, from preventative medicine and routine check-ups to surgical procedures and boarding. For residents in the greater Boston area, knowing that a single location can provide such a breadth of care makes pet ownership that much easier.
The Massachusetts Animal Medical Center recognizes that pets are an integral part of our families. Their approach to care is built on the idea of a comprehensive family practice, where the health and happiness of every animal are the primary focus. The center is equipped to handle everything from standard wellness exams and vaccinations to more complex diagnostic and surgical cases. They also offer a variety of ancillary services, such as grooming, daycare, and boarding, which can be a significant convenience for busy pet owners. This integrated model means that whether you are dropping your dog off for a day of play, bringing your cat in for a dental cleaning, or need to stock up on a prescription diet, many of your needs can be met in one place.
While the center provides a wide array of services, it is important for prospective clients to be aware of the business model and pricing. Public feedback indicates that some customers have concerns regarding the cost of services, such as office visits for vaccination appointments and prescription refills. The center's policy of requiring an in-person visit for a prescription refill, even for a condition that is improving, has been a point of contention for some. Similarly, the fee for a check-up prior to administering a vaccine has led some pet owners to feel that the pricing structure is geared toward generating revenue. It is always wise for pet owners to compare prices and policies to ensure they align with their budget and expectations for care.
The Massachusetts Animal Medical Center is conveniently located at 380 Pleasant St, Watertown, MA 02472, USA. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My dog has been seen by the hospital in the past for an ear infection. The drops they prescribed for her work really well. Last time when I ran out they refilled the drops without her having to be seen. I understand they haven’t seen her in 2 years because I refuse to pay their price for shots, etc. She doesn’t need to be seen. I started the drops and her ear is 90 percent better. I only needed a refill to complete the cycle of drops. They won’t let me get a refill without her being seen. I’m not paying for an office visit for something that is almost cured. Sad that money is more important than trusting the owner and treating an animal.
July 10 · Thomas MuttartDo not come to this place. They will find way to up charge you and make recommendations that drive revenue and not what is best for the pets. While the staff is friendly, I spent nearly 2k in two visits for my two dogs for treating an ear infection and getting their shots up to date.I have two dogs and they charge $80 per dog to check them prior to giving the vaccine.... for maybe 5 minutes worth of work. In addition, all of the medicine and shots are much more expensive than an other places (this is easy to look up). Do not throw your money away by going to this place.
August 01 · Emilio AlvarezI chose this practice when I moved to the area about 6 years ago. My adult cat had developed some sort of disorder that involves chronic vomiting. I brought my cat into this veterinary practice many times over the course of a few years for repeated rounds of testing- blood tests, x-rays, etc.I spent thousands of dollars at this practice and they gave me absolutely no meaningful assistance. Their team failed to narrow down what her chronic issue might be, despite regularly having me come in for testing and enema and blood work. They just told me to put Miralax in her food indefinitely, and sent me on my way to come back anytime that she had a flare up, despite the fact that she clearly has some kind of gastrointestinal issue. Every time I would, I would spend between $800 and $1200 dollars for a series of tests that gave me no meaningful results. No answers, not even a hint as to what could be wrong. Nothing. For YEARS.Eventually I stopped bringing my pet in, because I'm tired of spending upwards of $1,000 every time my cat throws up just to be sent home with no assistance. No medications, no recommendations for vet specialists, nothing. This office made it seem like there was nothing that they could do and it was impossible for them to figure out what might be wrong with my cat.My cat had a flare up recently, and frustrated with the lack of true care that my pet received at Massachusetts Animal Medical Center, I brought her into Blue Pearl for an appointment. We did an examination and ordered a round of tests, and guess what? After just ONE visit with a Blue Pearl they were able to narrow down what my cat's chronic issue is, and get my cat on a long-term care plan. And guess what? She has gastrointestinal disease. One visit at Blue Pearl, versus multiple years of visits with this vet.I am incredibly disappointed to learn that after years visits, MAMC was unequipped and incompetent enough that my pet has been living with a chronic disease that was easily treatable. My cat's quality of life suffered for multiple years because of the incompetency and lack of care of the staff at this location.Aside from this major issue, I have had a number of less than great experiences with the front desk staff and the doctors. I've been talked to down to, spoken to on condescending manner on more than one occasion, and even had staff withhold prescription food that my pet needed, forcing me to come in to an appointment before releasing even a few days worth of food, which caused my pet to be sick for the duration. If I could go back in time and do it all over again, I never would have brought my pet here. My pet suffered for years with the poor quality of life because of the incompetent staff at this location. If you love and care about your pets and want them to be healthy, do not bring them to this place.
August 16 · Alyx HarperWe’ve been coming with our dog and 2 cats for a few years. Definitely pricey (but that may just be MA in general), but worth it for us. You can tell the staff here really cares. They are kind to the animals and explain things thoroughly always offering as many options as possible. We lost our dog last fall and our cat last month and they made everything seamless. The amount of care they showed and the options for remembering your pet was so nice. Afterwards we received cards in the mail that were not just the generic sorry for your loss. Would definitely recommend!
March 01 · JT SmithAll the Veterinarians Ive met are above and beyond fantastic, as well as the paraprofessional vet technicians! The front desk staff especially are genuinely spectacular and very welcoming which is definitely a huge percentage of the reason for the 5 stars!!!
