Northridge Veterinary Center Introduce
For residents of Northridge and the surrounding San Fernando Valley, finding a trusted animal hospital for the care of a beloved pet is a top priority. Northridge Veterinary Center, located at 19462 Rinaldi St, is a facility that offers a broad spectrum of veterinary services, from routine check-ups to complex medical and surgical treatments. The hospital is an animal hospital equipped to handle a variety of needs, providing everything from general medicine to emergency care, and catering to a diverse range of pets, including exotics and pocket pets.
The center’s service offerings are extensive, designed to provide comprehensive care throughout a pet’s life. The hospital is equipped with a fully stocked pharmacy and on-site lab work capabilities, which can expedite diagnosis and treatment. In addition to medical services, the center also provides boarding and bathing, offering a convenient solution for pet owners who need a safe place for their pets during travel or other commitments. For those who are unable to bring their pet in, the hospital also lists home services as part of its offerings, which can be an invaluable feature for some pet owners.
However, it is important for potential clients to be aware of a range of experiences shared by past customers. While the hospital aims to serve the community, some reviews highlight significant concerns regarding the level of care and customer service. One reviewer expressed extreme disappointment, stating that a check-up felt "rushed and incomplete" and that the doctor, Dr. Smith, did not perform key checks like taking vitals or a temperature. The customer was further shocked when they found that the medical report allegedly falsified that these checks had been performed. This claim of falsifying a medical report is a serious accusation that suggests a lack of transparency and integrity, which are crucial in the veterinary field.
Another review recounts an "upsetting experience" with the office manager, Jan. The customer, who was attempting to address concerns about their pet's care, was met with rudeness and defensiveness, and was even threatened with the police for expressing their intent to share their experience with other pet owners. This review suggests a difficult customer service environment and a lack of empathy when issues arise. A third, highly distressing review describes a traumatic experience where a dog, who was taken in for a minor issue, allegedly suffered a severe injury at the clinic. The customer claims their dog was fine upon arrival but was screaming in pain and unable to stand after a procedure, with the doctor allegedly denying accountability and failing to provide proper pain medication or a diagnosis. These accounts of alleged negligence, lack of accountability, and poor customer relations are serious and should be considered by anyone looking for veterinary care.

What is worth choosing?
When considering Northridge Veterinary Center, it is essential for California pet owners to weigh the comprehensive services offered against the serious concerns raised in customer reviews. On paper, the hospital provides a broad and convenient range of services, from routine care and prescriptions to specialized surgery and care for exotic pets. The availability of on-site services like boarding and a fully stocked pharmacy are definite advantages that can streamline pet care. The hospital's ability to handle emergency situations is also a valuable service to the community.
However, the negative experiences detailed in the reviews are significant and cannot be overlooked. The claims of rushed appointments, alleged falsified medical records, and a confrontational staff, as well as a distressing account of a pet being injured while in their care, are major red flags. Pet owners in the San Fernando Valley rely on veterinarians to be trustworthy, compassionate, and transparent, and these reviews suggest that those standards may not have been met for some clients. The accounts of a lack of accountability and empathy from both the doctor and the office manager are particularly concerning for anyone who is entrusting their pet to a medical professional.
Given the conflicting information, a potential customer should proceed with caution. While the facility's extensive services may be appealing, it is crucial to consider the experiences of other clients. It may be beneficial to schedule a brief initial visit or consultation to gauge the atmosphere and the staff's professionalism firsthand. Ultimately, the choice of a veterinary clinic is a deeply personal one, and it is vital for pet owners to feel complete confidence in the care their beloved animals will receive. Based on the provided reviews, the experiences at Northridge Veterinary Center have been highly inconsistent, and potential clients should be aware of this before making a decision.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I'm extremely disappointed with the level of care my pet received at this veterinary office with Dr. Smith. During our visit, he did not perform a thorough check-up--no vitals were taken, no temperature check, and nothing was done with my pet's ears, eyes, teeth, or anal glands, etc.... It felt rushed and incomplete. When I asked to speak with the office manager to express my concerns, I was shocked to see that the doctor had documented that all of those checks had been performed. This is simply not true, and I find it unacceptable that a medical professional would falsify a report.I expected transparency, thorough care, and professionalism, but unfortunately, that was not my experience.During another request to fill in a prescription. I had a very upsetting experience at this veterinary office, particularly with the office manager, Jan. When I raised concerns about the level of care my pet received, Jan was incredibly rude and dismissive. She wouldn't allow me to speak or explain the situation, and it was clear she didn't have all the facts in front of her.Instead of trying to understand my concerns or de-escalate the situation, she immediately became defensive. She even threatened to call the police after I said I would stand outside the office and share my experience with other pet owners. This was not a threat--just my right to express how poorly I felt we were treated. Sad to say, for someone who always tries to support local businesses, this business is not worth supporting. As pet owners, we trust veterinary professionals to care for our furry family members with compassion and integrity. Sadly, that was not the case here; now reading other recent reviews, I'm not the first, nor will I be the last. I won't be returning and would recommend others approach this clinic with caution.
June 25 · Sonny BhogalIn a nut shell, when I took my dog in he “appeared” physicall fine. Only problem was frequent urination. I was able to pick him up, hold him, he walked fine, was happy, tail wagging, no noticeable pain, all good. All of a sudden i could hear my dog screaming and crying like someone was killing him!!! The cries lasted what felt like forever. When I got him back (same office visit, after several minutes had passed waiting in the room), my dog was lethargic, in severe pain (I couldn’t even touch him without him screaming in pain) and couldn’t even stand up straight without almost falling over. When I tried to pick my dog up to take him home he BIT me from how much pain he was in!! Smith claims that’s how sever I took him in. One of us is clearly delusional and it’s not me! If it was an accident the least he could have done was to apologize for what happened to my dog and treated him. But instead he said that’s how my dog was when I took him in. He didn’t give pain meds until I asked. He gave diarrhea meds when my dog did NOT have diarrhea!!! He sent my dog home in severe pain from an injury they caused due to negligence. Smith and/or his staff are cruel humans and shouldn’t be anywhere near defenseless animals. Shame on all of you!!! Take accountability for your actions!!! The details of this traumatic experience are too long to type out in detail but my dog suffered severe pain!!

August 01 · Susan MaldonadoI have taken all my ‘babies’, dogs, cats, parakeets to Drs. Smith and Gammatoni…for more than 30 years. They are truly remarkable. Competency, professionalism, kindness, …sure hands and caring hearts. There are no superlatives sufficient. I would take my precious Furries no where else. Thank You to Northridge Veterinary for taking such wonderful care of my ‘little loved ones’ for all these years.
July 02 · Ed SpielmanSuper nice employees. Small office with a dull cold feeling but the people there are amazing. We have a Ferret, so it's difficult to find competent doctors. Even with all the weather issues right now, we were able to get an appointment. Very quick and efficient. Great prices. Gave us medicine for our ferret and made a follow up appointment on the spot.I will follow up my review after treatment is complete
