Choosing a veterinary hospital for your pet's care is a crucial decision, and while Signal Hill Pet Hospital offers a wide array of services, it is important to consider all aspects of the client experience. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of medical services, which can be a great convenience for pet owners. From routine check-ups and pet vaccinations to advanced diagnostics and complex surgeries, the hospital is equipped to handle many of your pet’s health needs. The availability of boarding, grooming, and an on-site pharmacy also adds to the convenience, creating a one-stop-shop for many pet-related needs in the Signal Hill community.
The hospital has the benefit of having skilled veterinarians, such as Dr. Atalla, who are noted for being "very kind and understanding" and who "explained things thoroughly and provided options for pet care." This personal connection with a knowledgeable veterinarian is a significant factor in pet care. The hospital's services like advanced surgical procedures, including soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries, as well as the use of modern diagnostic tools like X-rays and ultrasounds, demonstrate a commitment to medical capability. The emphasis on pain management during and after procedures is also a positive sign, as it shows a consideration for the pet’s comfort and well-being.
However, it is important for potential clients to be aware of the experiences of others, particularly with regard to customer service and professionalism. As some reviews indicate, there can be challenges with the front office staff, including issues with finding information, a lack of empathy, and concerns about billing transparency. These are factors that should be taken into account by any pet owner when evaluating a service provider. While the medical expertise may be a draw, the overall experience is also a key component of a good vet visit. It is always recommended for new clients to have a thorough discussion about pricing and procedures upfront. The hospital’s services, when considered in their entirety, present a comprehensive option for pet care in Signal Hill, offering a wide range of medical and ancillary services that can be highly beneficial for a pet's health.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Pet owners beware! The office staff at this vet clinic are incompetent and rude. The staff lacks professionalism and empathy. Every time I called, I was on hold for a minimum of 10 minutes. And each time they answered, they could not find my information even though I had just been there hours before. However, they were very quick to charge us over $6000 for treatment that they never added to our signed estimate. The office manager and the rest of the front office staff were exhausting to work with. One front desk woman gave us attitude every time we came in with my dog. Again, awful demeanor. The cherry on top was when the same front desk woman began speaking loudly and negatively about the doctor in front of the clients in the lobby. Amazing that this place employs staff like this. I will say this, Dr. Atalla was a very kind and understanding vet. She explained things thoroughly and provided options for pet care. She is the only reason I did not give a lower rating.
October 15 · May CLarge Breed Dog Owners, Take Caution & THEY GIVE CREDIT TO GOOD REVIEWS!!!!No professional veterinarian practice would add $15 dollar credit for a glowing review- As many others mention this is a case for the better business bureau. The truth is, this place does the bare minimum and treats your loved pet like an inconvenience.Unfortunately, our experience at Signal Hill Pet Hospital was incredibly disappointing. Despite our dog being gentle, well-behaved, and friendly—even for a large breed—we were met with a staff that appeared uncomfortable and inexperienced in handling larger dogs. What stood out the most was the lack of professionalism and genuine care. The vet and technician showed little warmth or confidence, and shockingly, I was expected to be hands-on during the appointment. As a paying customer, I expect trained professionals to handle my dog with skill and compassion—not to be relied upon to assist in basic procedures. We paid $87 for what amounted to less than 30 seconds of a physical exam. The doctor didn’t check our dog’s ears, paws, nose, or body. WHICH IS CRUCIAL TO THEIR CARE. It was only after I asked whether I needed to help that the technician became active at all. The visit felt rushed, impersonal, and poorly managed.Additionally, they claim “Our goal is to make your pet healthy and happy” A exam should be a POSITIVE experience for your loved animal. As many educated owners know- even if the price is cheap it’s not worth the trauma your animal may endure.
May 22 · Ashley CruzI brought my cat in for a check up because he was having pretty severe symptoms of being ill when I got $500 tests done the doctor said results where fine there’s nothing wrong with him. I knew there was but she made it feel like a rush to get me out. A few months later I take him somewhere else and I find out he’s had a disease this whole time. They actually don’t care about the animal. Find a new job if you don’t like animals. Go somewhere else.
July 15 · SydneyLet me first say this is not my normal veterinarian and let me tell you why. My little Maltese had torn her dewclaw nail and her Paw was quite bloody. I couldn't get in to see my normal vet, so I called the next closest one. I made an appointment for 2:00. My husband took my little dog in at 2:00. Well it seems the doctor goes to lunch from 12:00 to 2:30 so he sat there until 2:45 waiting to be seen $305.00 later, they brought her out and said we could take her home and she needed a bandage on her foot but it would be an extra 47.00 I just about lost my marbles. I pulled the doctor aside and I told her I didn't think it was right. I just spent $300 and now she wants another $47 to put a Band-Aid wrap on my dog's foot. These people don't care about your animals, Horrible customer service all about the bottom line I'll stick to the Broadway Pet Clinic.Thank you very little.
July 12 · Connie JorgensenI took a 4 week old kitten that looked like he was dying and the girl behind the desk ( she was old w/ glasses) told me the vet was in a meeting and she was not going to bother him for this. Now if I was a vet and a person behind the desk DID NOT PULL ME OUT OF A MEETING she would be fired! And then told me to go to the emergency vet at the circle. Which I was extremely irritated with a few months ago. Are they in this line of work for the cash or what?? Anyway thank God for Ashley a lady that over heard me in the vet office and is now nursing my little kitten back to health! Thank GOD AND ASHLEY!! I am forever in debt to you.
