Choosing an urgent care facility is a decision made in a moment of panic and need, and it is crucial to know what to expect. Long Beach Animal Urgent Care, according to one customer's experience, is a place that can provide a calm and reassuring environment during a crisis. The welcoming atmosphere and the professional, yet friendly, demeanor of the staff are highlights that can greatly ease the stress of an emergency. The review that described feeling "at ease" because of how the doctor explained options and the "special touch and care" shown with the scarf on the dog points to a human-centered approach to animal care. This kind of compassionate service builds trust and a desire to return for future needs.
However, it is important to acknowledge that the nature of urgent care, especially in a business-driven environment, can sometimes lead to varying customer experiences. Another reviewer's experience, who described the clinic as a "money trap" with "shockingly unprofessional and incompetent" staff, presents a strong contrast. This individual's complaint about high prices and a lack of service highlights the financial stress that can accompany emergency vet visits. While some of these experiences might be subjective or isolated, it is a reminder that pet owners should be prepared for the costs associated with urgent care and to ask for estimates upfront. It is essential for pet owners to weigh different perspectives and to decide based on what they value most. For some, the peace of mind and compassionate handling of a crisis, as described by the first reviewer, might be worth the potential higher cost. For others, the financial aspect and perceived lack of service are more significant concerns. For residents of Long Beach, this clinic remains an option for after-hours animal care, and it is important to be prepared for the potential challenges and benefits of an urgent care setting.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Grateful for finding this animal doctor's urgent care late at night. I appreciate the welcoming, clean, calm environment which helped me stay calm. It was helpful to notice the doctor was calm, friendly, and who made my husband and I feel at ease even more as how he explained the test results and care options. It gave my heart a smile to see my dog return to me with a pink scarf, it showed that special touch and care. I trust taking my dog back here. Thankful for my dog's health recovery!
January 28 · Lesvia OakleyThis was my first and last time visiting this so-called urgent care.I’m always wary of animal ERs and urgent cares because they tend to be nothing more than money traps — charging outrageous prices because they know we come to them in emergencies, when we’re at our most vulnerable. But this place? This was the worst example of price gouging I’ve ever seen. Not only were the prices disgusting — we’re talking $1,400 for virtually no service — but the staff was shockingly unprofessional and incompetent. My dog barked (as female dogs might do when strangers enter the exam room), and both the nurse and “doctor” LITERALLY RAN OUT as if they’d never encountered a barking dog before. I was stunned. How can you call yourself an urgent care for animals if you’re afraid to come near my dog? But fine, I know my dog and her temperament, whereas you don't - and clearly are triggered by whatever negative past experiences you have. But then came the bill: $99 just to walk in the door, $160 for antibiotics my regular vet quoted me $80, and a laughable $400 for a simple urinalysis, which I declined, amongst other inflated services. The gall they had to hand me that estimate after refusing to provide a real exam was unbelievable. It could not have been more clear that they don’t care about animals — only extorting every last dollar out of desperate pet owners. They’ve intentionally chosen an industry where they can shamelessly exploit emergencies, charging double or triple what any trustworthy vet would. If you value your pet and your wallet, avoid this place at all costs. Wait to see your regular vet if at all possible. Do not give these predators a dime.
August 28 · Courtney A WarrenOur kitty Oreo had to be put down so I began calling around for places that perform euthanasia. I chose Long Beach Animal Urgent Care because they took the time to explain the process over the phone and even had a technician call me back about some questions I had that the front desk clerk couldn’t answer. The technician called about 15 min later and answered my questions. When we arrived the next day with Oreo, I was surprised to find the place adorably and tastefully decorated and the staff kind and helpful. From the clerk to the technician to the vet, they were kind and patient and knew how to handle our situation without awkwardness. It was an amazing place to say goodbye to my best furry friend. All of this and their prices were better than the other places I contacted.I highly recommend Long Beach Animal Urgent Care.
June 14 · Ronnie ColemanDr. James is hands-down simply the BEST!I brought my 11-year-old terrier Bisley Anna in an emergency visit, she was having multiple seizures back to back.Dr. James quickly took her back, him and his staff after numerous attempts was able to get her to settle down, stopping her seizures, and allowing her to calm down.Dr. James sat down with me and explained everything in full detail, (about 30 minutes answering ALL my questions) giving me multiple different options and scenarios, it was his wisdom and advice that I took, and that I am grateful to have my little girl around today.5 stars ✨ ALL the way!!!
October 25 · Captain Sebastian ClaeysI brought my dog for a wellness check after she swallowed bits of her toy. The staff was friendly, and the pricing was fair. My dog had her shot; I saw some small bleeding but thought nothing of it and took her home without incident. However, my dog had complications 1 1/2 days later, developing an active inflammation, bruising and infection on her injection site.I relayed my concerns about where they had administered the shot, but unfortunately, they had no answer on the site of administration and advised me to return for another exam with additional fees because they considered it a different issue.I understood their perspective, but my dog had an adverse reaction and I wanted it examined on their behalf. However, they wanted additional money for an exam, so I took her to another vet for an emergency procedure.
