Choosing Primary Care Animal Hospital is a decision to prioritize comprehensive and compassionate care. The most compelling reasons to choose this hospital are rooted in the feedback from loyal customers. The review from a client who is a weekly visitor with three Frenchies highlights a deep sense of trust and gratitude for the care they receive. The fact that the staff "love our dogs just as we do" and made a difficult euthanasia process as comfortable as possible speaks volumes about the genuine empathy that defines their practice. The claim that pets are in "good hands" at this office is a strong endorsement from someone with extensive experience with the clinic.
However, it is also important to consider all perspectives. Another review offers a contrasting view, suggesting that while the staff is kind, the clinic may have a "profit-driven mindset." The review raises concerns about high costs for medication and services, and a feeling of being "taken advantage of." This perspective highlights a common tension in veterinary care: the balance between providing high-quality, advanced medicine and making it affordable for pet owners. It is true that veterinary care, especially with advanced diagnostics and in-house pharmacies, can be expensive. The hospital's response about "in-house rate" pricing is a standard practice for many businesses that offer a service and a product directly from their facility. While this can feel like an aggressive sales tactic, for many pet owners, the convenience of having everything available at one location is worth the premium.
For pet owners in Long Beach, the decision to choose Primary Care Animal Hospital comes down to weighing these factors. On one hand, you have a highly trusted, deeply compassionate team that handles everything from routine exams to difficult end-of-life situations with grace and professionalism. On the other, you have a business with a pricing structure that may feel high to some clients. The hospital's ability to care for a wide variety of animals, including exotics, is a significant advantage. Ultimately, for those who value a personal, compassionate relationship with their vet and trust their expertise, Primary Care Animal Hospital is a solid and reliable choice, as long as one is prepared for the costs associated with premium care and convenience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We love love love Primary Care and Dr. Nguyen and the staff. They always take care of us and love our dogs just as we do. We actually are there weekly (we have 3 Frenchies, with 1 being geriatric) and we feel grateful to have a vet office that we can trust. We trust them with our babies and have had the absolute best experiences here. We were at Bixby Animal Hospital previously and they were terrible. We had to have our other Frenchie put down last year due to cancer and the entire staff made the process as comfortable, empathetic and genuine as they could.Trust and believe that your pets are in good hands at this office.
April 11 · Melani Leonard-CooperPets are like family to us, but to Primary Care, they seem more like money bags. While the staff and Dr. are kind and courteous, this clinic operates with a clear profit-driven mindset. They overcharge for medications—up to three times the cost found elsewhere. When questioned about this, their response was that since the medication is dispensed directly from their office, the pricing reflects their "in-house rate"—essentially saying, we can charge whatever we want. They also aggressively upsell services like flea prevention (while discrediting other effective treatments on the market) and push "profile urinary and blood tests" that can cost up to $400.All I'm asking for is reasonableness. We love our pets and want the best care for them—but that shouldn't mean being taken advantage of when visiting the vet.
June 20 · George HsiehWhen my lab passed, I couldn't seem to get off the floor with her. The doctor sat with me on the floor, and we sent her to doggy heaven together. I felt like part of the family. We highly recommend this vet.
May 04 · Ian CrichtonI love primary animal care! Such a great team of doctors. So friendly and professional and I love the clean office environment.
May 22 · Marjorie MaresGot me in next day, very friendly and helpful. Vet was good with pickles, she got good bill of health. Got her flea medicine now she’s happy and I am too. Thanks for keeping me up on her visits, which really helps me.
