Veterinarian
- Exotic animals
- Puppy And Kitten Care
At each visit, your veterinarian will weigh your pet and offer suggestions for the best type of food and treats for optimum growth and vigor. An appropriate diet is necessary for a healthy puppy or kitten and good quality pet food is important.
- Veterinary Practice
Veterinary medicine is the branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, control, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, disorder, and injury in animals. Along with this, it deals with animal rearing, husbandry, breeding, research on nutrition, and product development.
- Wellness
Regular Wellness Exams Are Important. Early detection reduces the severity of diseases like kidney disease, arthritis, diabetes, dental disease, obesity, and ear infection.
- X-Rays
X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation, similar to visible light. Unlike light, however, x-rays have higher energy and can pass through most objects, including the body. Medical x-rays are used to generate images of tissues and structures inside the body.
- Digital Radiology
Digital radiography is used to examine your pet’s organs and their reproductive, cardiopulmonary, urinary, and gastrointestinal systems. This non-invasive procedure produces images that allow a veterinarian to get an in-depth look at issues that are affecting your pet.
- Vaccination And Prevention
Vaccination offers an effective, inexpensive way to prevent a deadly disease from harming the animals in their care. These medicines are foundational to any animal health program, with the benefits extending even to public health.
- Preventive HealthCare
Preventive healthcare involves a multi-faceted approach that includes veterinary evaluation of your pet's overall health and risks of disease or other health problems. Based on the findings, your vet will provide you with recommendations for your pet's nutrition, dental care, vaccinations and more.
- Vaccinations
Vaccinations prevent diseases that can be passed between animals and also from animals to people. Diseases prevalent in wildlife, such as rabies and distemper, can infect unvaccinated pets. In many areas, local or state ordinances require certain vaccinations of household pets.
- Diagnostics
Veterinarians use a variety of veterinary tools to diagnose disease, to monitor disease progression or response to therapy, and to screen for the presence of underlying disease in apparently healthy animals.
- Periodontal disease or Dental Care
Dental or periodontal disease affects the teeth, gums and the support structures that surround your pet's teeth. It begins with a simple plaque buildup on the tooth enamel which contain bacteria and food particles. If not addressed, it remains on the tooth surface and eventually hardens into tartar.
- Spay and Neuter
Spaying is the removal of the female pet's reproductive organs, while neutering refers to the procedure for male pets. When a female dog is spayed, the vet removes her ovaries and usually her uterus as well. When neutering a dog, both testicles are removed.
- Ultrasound
- End of Life Care
Animal Hospital
- Veterinary Hospital
Veterinary Hospital means a building or place used for diagnosing or surgically or medically treating animals, whether or not animals are kept on the premises for the purpose of treatment, and includes a veterinary clinic.
- Dental Care Surgery
Proper dental care will help keep your pet from developing a wide variety of dental health issues, such as periodontal disease, which is caused by the build-up of bacteria in the mouth. These bacteria form a film over the teeth called plaque.
- Veterinary Dentist
A Veterinary Dentist is responsible for the oral health of animals. Like other Veterinary specialties, the Veterinary Dentistry field is comprised of professionals that have the dedication and passion to care for animals.
- Emergency Veterinary Care
The emergency veterinarian is a specialist that provides medical care to animal patients at animal hospitals and emergency clinics. It's also typical for emergency veterinarians to work with veterinary internal medicine specialists and surgeons at larger veterinary hospitals.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am so happy I found top choice. Animal Hospital Dr. Self is a wonderful and her staff are so nice. It’s one of the cleanest places I’ve been in. I love it. Take a chance on her. She’s the best I’ve been looking for a long time I went and just take my babies to anybody, but now I found them thank you.
August 24 · Amy HanleyThis was Oscar's first visit to Dr. Self at Top Choice Animal Hospital. We just adopted him and we were treated so well by the Dr and all her helpful and friendly staff! We are switching all of our pet's needs and care to this Vet, as she cares!Top Choice is NOT a Corporate owned facility!!!!!
August 18 · judi Holmes5 Stars! Dr self and her staff were great with both of my pets. My cat got an anesthetic dental and had to have 4 teeth pulled. She’s doing so much better after their care. And the price was so much better than some of the other places. My dog was seen by her and the Cardiologist that comes in every couple of weeks and we had a great experience with that as well. We are so happy to have an amazing new vet hospital in Long Beach.
August 24 · Pamela KilroyWe brought our sick kitty to Top Choice Animal Clinic, and I honestly couldn’t be more grateful. Dr. Self took such great care of him—you can really tell she loves what she does and cares deeply about every animal that walks through the door.I’ve been to a few of her other clinics in the past, and she’s always been incredible. This new location is beautiful—everything is brand new and super modern, but still has a warm, welcoming vibe that puts you (and your pet) at ease right away. The whole team at the clinic is friendly, professional, and clearly loves working with animals. From start to finish, the experience was smooth, kind, and comforting. If you’re looking for a vet who truly knows their stuff and treats your pets like family, I can't recommend Top Choice and Dr Self enough.
July 17 · Rasha NivotI’ve been bringing my dog and cat to see Dr. Self for several years and I trust her completely. She genuinely cares about the animals and always takes the time to explain things clearly and compassionately. Top Choice Animal Clinic is a beautiful new facility with a friendly and helpful staff. I also really appreciate that they are open seven days a week, which makes scheduling so much easier. Highly recommend!
