For pet owners throughout New Jersey, finding a reliable and full-service veterinary care provider is a paramount concern. VCA Rutherford Animal Hospital has long served as a trusted institution in the local community, offering a wide array of services that cover every aspect of a pet's well-being. This facility is more than just a veterinarian’s office; it is a comprehensive animal hospital, a dog daycare, a pet groomer, and an emergency service provider all in one. This multi-faceted approach to pet care is a significant advantage for New Jersey residents, providing a single, convenient location for virtually all of their pets' needs, from routine check-ups to urgent medical attention.

They understand the deep bond between people and their pets, and they strive to create an environment where both feel comfortable and supported. The hospital's services range from preventative medicine, such as vaccinations and parasite prevention, to advanced medical and surgical procedures. This breadth of care is a testament to their commitment to being a true partner in a pet's life journey, from puppyhood through their senior years.
The hospital’s reputation is built on a foundation of professional and empathetic service. As one real customer review highlights, the staff takes "amazing care of my little fur babies for routine exams and emergencies alike." This consistent, high-level care is what builds trust and loyalty within the community. The hospital’s proactive approach, as demonstrated by Dr. Sing identifying a heart murmur and initiating immediate testing, showcases their dedication to early detection and preventative treatment, which can lead to better long-term outcomes for pets. This kind of attentive and forward-thinking care is exactly what pet owners in New Jersey look for when choosing a veterinary provider.
However, as with any business, individual experiences can vary. While many clients report positive, long-term relationships with the hospital, it is important to be aware of all perspectives. One customer's account of a medication issue and a perceived lack of cooperation highlights the importance of clear communication between the clinic and the pet owner regarding available treatments and prescription options. It underscores the fact that pet owners, as advocates for their animals, must feel empowered to ask questions and seek the best solutions for their specific needs. Overall, VCA Rutherford Animal Hospital remains a significant presence in the New Jersey pet care landscape, offering a wide scope of services that cater to a variety of needs.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We have been coming to Rutherford Animal Hospital for almost 12 years. They have always taken amazing care of my little fur babies for routine exams and emergencies alike. They even check in next day to ensure that they are ok after emergent visits and with 3, we have a lot of these! 2 years ago, Dr. Sing identified a murmur in my then 10 year old pup. She got her in for all of the necessary tests almost immediately which gave us a speedy diagnosis and allowed us to start meds right away. Because of early detection and proactive care, my Zoey (who based on statistics should be in full blown CHF at this point) is thriving! The staff is always patient and pleasant and we will never go anywhere else!!!
June 09 · Deb BrouONLY CONCERNED WITH MAKING MONEY, NOT PETS. Took one of them here for tape worms. The vet gave a tablet for us to smash in the cats food and eat. After we explained the cat is very particular about his food and we tried that before for another medication and he refused to eat. She stated it only comes in pill form. After paying $43 for the medication, the cat refused to eat for over 24 hours cause he sensed there was something in his food. After looking online I find out it does come in liquid form, but VCA did not stock it and rather than give me a prescription to obtain it elsewhere, they were more concerned in selling me the useless tablet. Now I’m requesting they give prescription to chewy for liquid medication and they have me running in circles. NEVER AGAIN GOING BACK HERE.Your reply is ridiculous. After four phone calls you still gave every excuse possible why the prescription was still not given to a 3rd party. Funny how after all that you claiming not to find the visit. If you had shame you’d return my $43 that I’m considering a theft via deception.
August 18 · H MWe are deeply dissatisfied with the care and expertise shown by this hospital. We have been bringing our 8.5-year-old golden retriever here ever since we got him. Recently, our puppy started limping, and we took him in for a check-up. The staff immediately diagnosed arthritis and pushed arthritis medication on us. Even though we expressed our concerns about more serious conditions, we were ignored and convinced to pay for arthritis medication, which forced us to delay one of the medications for his actual disease. They only took imaging and blood work after we insisted, by which time his condition was worsening. They claimed they found nothing. As his condition continued to decline, we took him to another hospital. Within hours, they diagnosed him with cancer after doing blood work and imaging. This experience taught us the importance of seeking a second opinion. The lack of care and expertise shown by this hospital is unacceptable. Please, do not rely solely on their word; always seek a second opinion for your pet's health.
June 26 · Carolina MartinsWhat an experience! I've had cats my whole life and I've been to many vets through the years. This was a whole new experience. My senior kitty wasn't feeling well and went in for a check up. Dr. Calle and staff went above and beyond. They answered all my questions in detail, even a few times if I didn't understand. They were so patient and very gentle with my sick kitty. She had to have blood taken and a few other very uncomfortable procedures. They wrapped her up in a blanket and gave me Churus to feed her while they did their work. This method worked like a miracle. For the first time ever my cat wasn't traumatized from a vet visit. She didn't seem to mind what they were doing to her as long as she got some tasty Churu. Also would like to add they have very flexible hours. They have a treatment plan so I was able to choose what needs to be done immediately and what can wait, depending on my budget, another huge help. Also seeing all the treatments before paying so I can ask questions and fully understand what's being done was so helpful. Thanks Dr. Calle and all the staff, thank you!! Here is a pic of my kitty feeling like her self again.
August 29 · Lauren TThis is an excellent animal hospital for your pet's care. The prices are higher than some other local area animal hospitals. They have remodeled their inside waiting area and customer service desk. They now have a closed off area for cats behind a glass door to help keep them calm during their visits. There's a separate area for dogs away from the cats which is great idea for both pets. They do have on site blood tests for quick results. There's also an over night tech to care for your pet if they need to stay the night.
