★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If I could give less I would. The care that my dog received at this clinic was abysmal. He was my aunts dog and she recently passed away, he is very important to my family and we love him very much. This clinic showed not a care in the world about him. They overbook their schedule and cannot handle simple tasks or even communicate with you about your pets status. My pet was hospitalized overnight and was very sick… I received 0 update and every time I called I was told the doctor was busy. He had 105 fever could not hold things down and was very lethargic, not a single call or update on how he is doing for almost a full 24 hours. If I didn’t call I have no idea how I would know how he was doing. All they care about is packing their schedule and making money. I waited over an hour just for them to bring my dog out after I expressed multiple times how unhappy I was with the service just for them to withhold his medication because the card I was using would have to be called in for payment. We paid 1500 and they withheld his medication of 95$ bc they wouldn’t accept the card I needed for payment because when I called two hours prior to say I was picking him up no one told there was a balance. The actual worst experience I ever had with a vet in my life. My dog was treated as if he was not important or even cared about. No compassion, money hungry, schedule overbooking abysmal clinic. Do not bring your pet here. Ever. I took him home early and will be bringing him to another place for care where he is valued and treated properly where every patient gets the care they deserve and the communication to worried owners is actually a priority. I was treated like my pet was imposing on their busy schedule when he literally could’ve died. Shame on you and your staff. I have more words but they aren’t appropriate here.
July 29 · Brittany CiraoloHe’s a doctor. He has a degree at Cornell, and NYU! He’s great! He is a great doctor. My cat was sick, and I got really scared, and he fixed her.He charges 67 for the visit, and he does a lot of services on one visit. He doesn’t rush. He takes his time. I left there paying close to nothing, in comparison to the level procedures he did for my cat.My cat is very well now! She’s doing very well! I’m very lucky I did my research and found him. He’s a great doctor! My cat is healthy again!
July 30 · Jessica Carmen “Kat” JaramilloGreat doctor. Very caring. Our dog had two surgeries with Dr Appel(2022/2025) and they both were great. He has a lot of patience and can tell he cares about animals. All the support staff was wonderful as well. We are glad we chose him as our vet
April 26 · Gloria HDr. Appel is a scam artist! We brought our cat in because she was very sick and not eating or drinking after we got home from vacation. We wanted to know the source of what was going on with her. So when went in around 8am when the location opens and he said if we brought her in now, it would be considered an emergency and we would have to pay more money upfront. We didn’t mind at the time because our baby needed to be seen now. Prior to our cat staying over night we were told to pay closer to $1400 for blood work, tests, etc. (understandable) upfront. What was really bad was that after the blood work results, he told us that she might have kidney failure or liver disease and that he DIDNT KNOW what it was but that she had to stay up to 3 to 5 days hospitalized at $400/day and made us believe if that we didn’t do that that our cat was going to die. We got really scared and emotional! We got a 2nd opinion at because our parental instincts told us to! So we went the next day to Blue Pearl Pet Hospital, which were recommended by other local veterinarians and not Dr. Appel. The specialists told us that her temperature was fine and bloodwork was fine and that she had a bruised paw and that the pain got her to contract a sickness and they even suggested a pet care credit card to help us with the payments that Dr. Appel did not suggest. So Dr. Appel misdiagnosed her and try to play on our heart strings for more money! I recommend people not to come here. Wish I was able to get our money back. Update now. It’s been about a week now and our cat is ALIVE and WELL, walking around, resting when needed, eating and drinking! Being her normal Diva self!
July 03 · JJ RyanThis IS THE BEST VET IN NEW YORK CITY. I've never met a vet more committed to animals in my life. Dr. Appel performed an emergency surgery on my little Persian kitten. Kenny ate something that was blocking his digestive system. He was throwing up and wouldn't eat for days and most likely would have died without the surgery. After speaking with two other animal hospitals in Manhattan, I found this hospital. Unlike other surgeons, Dr. Appel took my fur baby in at around 11pm on a Friday! Most vets aren't even available that late at night without extra fees, but this Dr. was open and quoted me a much more affordable price. He was so attentive and helpful. He's been in business since the 70's and he's still got it! (I saw his diplomas from both Cornell and NYU on the wall in the office). I'm so happy to report my kitty is doing great (2 weeks after his procedure). I'd like to thank Dr. Appel and his staff for an amazing experience. Thank you for saving Kenny's life! Thank you for loving my pet as much as I do. XxP.s. this is the only review I've written on Google (should tell you something about how great this guy is)
