Horrible practice. Please do yourself and your pet the biggest favor and go elsewhere. I lost my beloved dog of 13 years because Dr. Cohen was not giving him the correct dose of insulin (an extremely low amount). I suspect this was so my dog would continue to be in and out of the hospital, which equals more money (we paid over $10,000). When my sister brought our dog in for the last time, she had questions regarding his treatment, to which she was met with hostility and yelling by Dr. Cohen. She was told, “Your dog is not going to make it anyway and will die.” I would not be shocked if my dog was being neglected while being an inpatient. The times that I visited him, he seemed more and more lethargic due to the incorrect insulin dosage. For scale, I know dogs his size that get 7ml of insulin. My dog was only getting 0.5 -1ml once a day! If you love your pets, please bring them somewhere else that will care for them like family instead of this practice that is money hungry and will keep your dog sick to maximize profit.

I got my dog stormi as a puppy in end of February last year decided to go to BayStreet Animal hospital to take care of her shots and since then I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I got her spayed there and the level of care of focus they provide cannot be matched anywhere else. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my stormi. She’s getting boarded there too they do it all. If your thinking of a place where they do it all think no further they are the place where you can have peace of mind for your Bestfriend.

Even though they don’t see pet birds this animal hospital was still the first go to when it comes to emergencies. My pet Quaker’s toe was stuck between the doors of its cage. The toe came off and was bleeding non stop. I ran to this hospital and everyone there was just so nice. They showed absolute care and stop the bleeding. They also offered us a bird hospital where my parrot could get treated. Thank you all so much😢🙏

I've been going here since they opened years ago. Dr. Cavellaro is simply the best. She cares, she listens and has been spot on with her diagnoses. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Bianca was there and helped me during a crucial emergency.I recommend them highly!

I recently had to take my cat in for emergency care, and I arrived at Bay Street Animal Hospital visibly distressed, holding him in my arms and in tears. The moment I approached the front desk, I was immediately told the walk-in cost, before any concern or compassion was shown for my situation. When I gave my cat’s name, the staff member laughed, which felt incredibly inappropriate given the circumstances.There was a clear lack of empathy from the start. The staff focused more on the cost of services than on what care my pet would receive. The $150 exam fee was not explained, and one staff member even told me to expect to spend $1,000.When they took my cat to the back, I asked if I could accompany him and was told no. When he was brought back, no one explained what was done or what was found. I asked for clarification, visibly upset, and instead of addressing my concerns, the person at the desk picked up the phone while I was speaking through tears. When I asked to speak with someone else, a woman in scrubs told me I should be charged—which felt dismissive and unkind in that moment.Overall, I felt that the staff was more focused on financials than on the emotional and medical needs of my pet and me. There was a serious lack of compassion during an already difficult experience.I ended up going to Greater Staten Veterinary Services, where the difference was night and day. The reception team responded immediately, triaged my cat right away, and allowed me to be present in the exam room. The vet and staff were kind, compassionate, and made me feel heard and supported.Unfortunately, my experience at Bay Street Animal Hospital was deeply upsetting and disappointing - Beware!
