When they provided their recommendation to in fact, euthanize my baby, not only were they compassionate with the news, but they spoke with such empathy. The day I took my baby to be euthanized, they provided me with comfort, space and unlimited time. They explained the process step-by-step and they didn’t rush me. Overall they made the experience as pleasant as they could despite the circumstances.Their partners at West Coast Pet Memorial Services exceeded my expectations when it came to delivering my fur baby. The delivery was not only respectful but out of this word, beautiful.Today marks, one week and one day since I lost my baby. I came home from work and in the mail, I had received a card full of comments expressing sympathy, and reminders that my baby is in a better place- all written by the staff.Words cannot express how truly grateful I am for this place.
April 08 · Olivia VenegasI’m sharing my experience after a singular visit to this veterinary clinic in November 2024. I’m only bringing myself here now to make a review due to lingering feelings of guilt and regret for my angel baby. Prior to making a visit to this clinic, I had been taking my 12-year old dog to the Boyle Heights location where she had been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in October 2024. I was in consistent communication and scheduled appointments for my dog throughout that month with the Boyle Heights location, however they recommended that I visited their Jefferson location due to a lack of appointment availability for a check-up because I had concerns about my dog’s lack of appetite, vomiting and mucus stool. We had come to the clinic on November 22, 2024 and I forget the doctor’s name however it was a male veterinarian who came in to assess my dog. I had asked him to be honest with us and see if we would need to consider euthanasia for my pet and he said no. Instead he gave us the option of in-clinic care/supervision or the option to perform some tests and put her on different medication. Due to financial constraints, we could not afford to have the in-clinic supervised care and opted for the second option. He had implied forcing my dog to eat in order for the medication to work after telling him my concerns about her lack of appetite with her prescription food and human food altogether. After 2 hours, they had brought out my dog who looked visibly drowsy and exhausted and gave us her new medication and charged us $500-$600 for our visit. After returning home that night, my dog was still out of it and not eating. This behavior only got worse the next day as my dog was very hostile towards us and was no longer able to stand up and walk, hold her head up, or act how she was just 12 hours prior. We had been trying to feed her that afternoon using a small plastic syringe and she had bit the plastic and broke her tooth, removing her desire to drink water. At this point, her stool was now mucous mixed with blood and she was no longer able to walk over to her pee pad to do her business so we had to put the pee pads in her bed. By late Saturday night, we had made the difficult decision to start looking into at-home euthanasia due to her devastating condition. Her condition was worse Sunday morning and she no longer appeared to recognize us, respond to her name or understand her surroundings. We put her down that night with a last-minute at home euthanasia specialist. My dog was put to sleep on November 24, 2024 and lived her last days in discomfort and pain. I will never forgive myself for bringing my dog here and for trusting this clinic to have my dog’s best intention. Please consider another clinic or the Boyle Heights location to treat your pet.
August 19 · Jae CruzI took my son here for his Rabies, exam and flea prescription. It's clean, nicely lit and everyone is friendly.Now, Yogi Golden Child is special needs. He does not like other animals or people. I let them know his peculiarities and they were more than willing to accommodate.We were seen very quickly and the Doctor spent a lot of time with us answering questions and checking him out. I was confident she knew what she was doing.A tech came and administered the Rabies and the nasal Bordetella. He was so quick and effortless, Yogi didn't have time to react. I was impressed.My total was 150 or less as I paid for the exam and the 2 shots and a 3 month supply of Bravecto. This total was very affordable for me and we definitely got out monies worth.I took him back 2 weeks later for his Distemper/Parvo combo and my bill was 24.They ushered him to the back where he tried to attack shoes but they laughed at him and still got the job done.Yogi is spoiled but he's my baby and I adore, adore, adore him. I am happy at this clinic. It's easy, breezy, beautiful...Covergirl.
March 29 · christi JonesI have been a patient at Los Angeles Veterinary Center for 8 years.I began taking my pets to the Boyle Heights facility, I had just recently started taking my pets to the Jefferson Blvd facility.On Saturday, August 2, I was treated horribly by Dr. Cynthia Mata and the two receptionists. Our appointment was at 10:45am. We arrived on time and still had to wait almost an hour to be seen. When Dr. Cynthis Mata finally entered the room, she said “I’m sorry for the wait, I had an emergency”Upon entering, Dr. Mata asked me why I was there. I understand this is protocol, however, they called me twice in the morning before my appointment to confirm, why would the Dr. Ask me why I was there. We were there for a chest X-ray and an RSV panel and anything else the Dr. recommended. I was prepared to pay for anything to get my cat the help she desperately needed.My cat is very ill. This was my third visit taking my cat to the Los Angeles Veterinary Center.My cat has been having trouble breathing and nose bleeds since May 2025.On the 2nd visit, Dr. Cynthis Mata told my boyfriend to euthanize our cat without doing any tests at all.I found this statement to be cold, callous, lacking compassion, and highly unprofessional.I understand there comes a point in treatment of a sick animal where euthanasia is the best option for the animal, however, this conclusion usually happens after all tests have been exhausted.This was only the 2nd time visiting the Los Angeles Veterinary Center to assess what was wrong with my cat.On the third visit, August 2, 2025, Dr. Cynthia Mata was took her coldness and unprofessionalism to a whole new level.I asked Dr. Mata why she felt it was appropriate for her to tell my boyfriend and I to euthanize our cat at the last appointment. Apparently this question set her off. She said that X-rays and treatment don’t have any guarantees to figure out what is wrong. She made this statement before doing any tests.After doing the physical examination on my cat. She said she felt a lump and walked out. I was deeply concerned by this. Why would a Dr say something as concerning as that and then leave the room abruptly? Going back to her “emergency” earlier, wouldn’t the lump in my cat’s throat be considered an emergency as well? She did not leave the room because she considered my cat’s “lump” an emergency, I am still not sure why she left.Before she left, she told me in addition to the x-ray and rev panel, we could also add a fungal exam.Before she left I asked her for 2 estimates, one with the fungal exam and one without.She sent in one of the receptionists to give me my estimates. However, the receptionist only brought in one estimate without the fungal exam.I told the receptionist I asked for 2 estimates. Dr. Cynthis Mata walked in and said “I didn’t think you wanted to pay for the fungal exam which is why I didn’t print it out” This statement was deeply offensive. I asked her what she meant by that statement. She did not have an answer. I was prepared to pay for anything to help my sick cat. I just wanted to see the cost differences. The Dr. assumed i “didn’t want to pay for the treatment” and I was highly offended by this. All she and the receptionists had to do was print out 2 estimates for me to compare. Yes they took it upon themselves to assume what I wanted to pay for.After I asked her why she only printed out one estimate without the fungal exam and what she meant by that statement about assuming I “didn’t want to pay for it” She very coldly stated “You know I can refuse services to you right?” I asked her “are you refusing services to me?” She said “You know what, I am refusing services to you”At this point I was bewildered and flabbergasted. Nothing I said or did warranted a reaction like this from Dr. Cynthia Mata and the receptionists.(SEE PHOTOS FOR FULL REVIEW)
August 17 · Cheyna HolmesMy dog Bunny had spay surgery here. The price was very reasonable compare to other places. People are very nice and surgery process was very smooth. Doctor did great job, the incision site is very smooth and healed very fast without any issues. She was back to normal next day and I put her on anti-licking suits, it worked perfect. The office is very clean and stuff are very pleasant. It's 3 mins drive. from my house, this is my new go to place. Thank you so much for great service. Highly recommended!
