At each wellness exam, we will inspect your pet’s mouth and teeth. We’ll evaluate plaque and tartar accumulation, provide instruction for home care, and determine if further examination or professional dental cleaning is warranted. If plaque and tartar buildup goes unchecked, inflammation may develop and infection can form around the root of the tooth. Each cat and dog is individual, but for some yearly dental cleanings are necessary.

- Parasite & Flea Control
Year-round treatment for parasites and fleas over the lifetime of your pet is important. For dogs, we recommend Sentinel® since it treats six forms of parasites, including worms and fleas. Most importantly Sentinel protects your dog from developing heartworm which is very serious and often proves fatal. Annual heartworm testing is recommended. Since it is so important, we offer a discount on heartworm tests.Boy and Dog Sentinel kills flea eggs only. If your pet has fleas, you will want to treat your home, as well as all the pets in your household. It is imperative that you treat for at least three consecutive months, so that fleas are killed in all life cycles (from eggs to adults).Fleas don’t only make your pet itchy and uncomfortable, they can lead to painful skin and other medical conditions. An estimated 58% of cats and 54% of dogs in the United States are overweight or obese, according to recent research.Alarmingly, the trend seems to be increasing. Many pet owners don’t recognize that their pet is overweight. That is why we will assess your pet’s weight and body condition at each wellness exam. Many owners unknowingly overfeed their pets. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at Banfield Pet Hospital in Monrovia. On July 17, 2025, I brought my dog Rocky in for a bandage replacement agter one had fallen off. During the visit, he became visibly stressed and struggled to breathe. Two people present at the time witnessed his distress, though I understand their hesitation to speak up because of their positions. Also I was informed by two vet techs that if the issue returned I would have take my dog elsewhere for surgery when Dr told me surgery could be done there. Have a saved voicemail with that info as wellWhat concerns me most is that no medical record about Rocky’s condition was written at the time of the visit. Instead, a note was added to his record a full week later, on the exact day corporate received my written complaint. That note claimed things that were not accurate, including that I specifically requested to see a particular veterinarian, which I did not.and even wrong date of service.Additionally, following a post I shared on my personal social media page about the visit — where I did not name the facility or any staff and where I even praised the doctors I have trusted for years — I was informed that my Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) had been terminated by his vet . This decision was made without any direct communication with me and contradicts what I believe to be ethical veterinary standards. Vet refused to call me back after leaving a message to discuss what had happened and my dog who was still under his care. I guess he is fine with vet techs speaking for him and telling clients they would need to go elsewhere for surgeryAs a longtime client who followed my trusted doctors when they transitioned to Banfield, this entire situation has been heartbreaking. My intention in sharing this is not to be malicious, but to stand up for Rocky and to urge Banfield Monrovia to uphold transparency, integrity, and the compassionate care our pets deserve. The two drs I followed are still amazing and I will always be grateful for all they have done for all my animals under their care New Dr on staff needs skills on how to communicate and handle clients professionally⸻
July 31 · Rocky RoRoI have been bringing Luther to Banfield since I brought him home from The Guide Dog School in 2017. I feel comfortable when I drop him off knowing that he is getting the best care. Roxanne and her team at the front desk are Awesome.!!! Thank you so much. Gloria Van Robinson and Luther
June 16 · Gloria Van RobinsonWalking into Banfield of Monrovia is like walking into a relatives home. My 5yr old pup Lolli & I are always welcomed with a warm greeting from Roxanne, April or another staff member.Dr. Ho, Dr. Garcia & Dr. Thompson have all treated Lolli as well as the Technicians who see her once a month for her anal express & nail trim. I'm extremely satisfied with the exemplary care & feel very comfortable leaving her in their hands. We've been going to Banfield since October 2022 & my only regret is that I wish I could have taken Lolli to them from the start. Banfield of Monrovia will always be my Pet Hospital.🐶❤️
