Don't go here if you love your pet! Dr Sebetic doesn't genuinely care about your pet, just the bill your visit will generate. He ALWAYS goes to the worst possible case instead of ruling out the simple causes so you are willing to spend whatever it takes to save your pet. Our miniature dachshund developed an eye infection that resembled conjunctivitis. We took him to Harlem Valley Animal Clinic on 12/27/22. Dr Sebetic told us that he thought he had a tumor behind his eye. We told him we thought that he had infected teeth. Dr Sebetic focused on a tumor and advised of the cost to do a biopsy. He prescribed 2 weeks of antibiotic tablets that didn't help at all. We brought him to the HV Animal Clinic two times in two weeks. I spoke to Dr Sebetic four times. This careless veterinarian was not treating him as an emergency patient. He said we were overreacting. We took him to another veterinary hospital 1/12/23. They treated him aggressively with an antibiotic shot. It was too late. The abscess broke that night,1/12/23 at 11pm, and caused him to have a stroke. We had an hour drive to an emergency vet in Brewster. Our dog went through so much. It was such a traumatic end of life. He deserved better. He passed away from what was curable. Dr Sebetic basically went off his own diagnosis not a medical one, and didn't treat our 14 year dog for what was wrong. It cost our dog's life. I wouldn't bring a gold fish to this veterinarian. He purposely let our little dachshund suffer for weeks and die.*spoke to Sebetic and he refuses to own what he did. He actually told me it was our fault. Stay away from here!*Sebetic told us our yellow lab had a neurological disorder and had less than 6 months to live .... five years ago. It was lymes disease.*August 2025 ... our lab lived until 13 yrs and 8 mos,,,, 7+ years after Sebetic said she was going to die.*Courtney is heartless. After knowing my dog passed away 3 days prior under their care, she only had unprofessional comments to say to me. - Kim Watt

Harlem Valley Animal Clinic Introduce

For pet owners in New York's scenic Dutchess County, finding a veterinary clinic that is both knowledgeable and compassionate is essential for the well-being of their animal companions. The Harlem Valley Animal Clinic, located in Dover Plains, is a local animal hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive and attentive veterinary care. This clinic is a key part of the local community, offering a wide range of services to ensure the health and happiness of pets throughout the region. The team at Harlem Valley Animal Clinic is committed to building lasting relationships with their clients and their pets, focusing on providing medical care that is both professional and personalized.

The experience at any veterinary office can vary, and it is clear from community feedback that Harlem Valley Animal Clinic has made a significant impact on its clients. Some pet owners have shared overwhelmingly positive stories of their experiences, highlighting the dedication and genuine care of the staff. One reviewer praised the team, saying, "Cortney and Dr. Sebetic are both wonderful. The office is very responsive and I always leave feeling educated and happy with the service provided. Dr. Sebetic truly loves animals and is willing to go out of his way to make sure your pet is happy and healthy. I definitely recommend." This sentiment is echoed by another client who described a situation where they were prepared for the worst but were met with a thoughtful, conservative approach. The reviewer noted, "Dr. S did an initial exam, took him outside to assess the limp, taught me how to know which limb was bothering him, and ran urgent bloodwork to make sure he did not have Lymes. He came back positive for a tick related illness which I would not have known about had Dr. S not ordered the bloodwork." This same client mentioned that Dr. Sebetic has "called me countless times when he is no longer in the office to make sure my boy is okay," and that Cortney is "always happy to work with my schedule and answers my emails quickly."

However, other customer experiences have been challenging, with some clients voicing significant concerns about the clinic. One review described a tragic situation involving a miniature dachshund, with the pet owner claiming, "Dr. Sebetic doesn't genuinely care about your pet, just the bill your visit will generate. He ALWAYS goes to the worst possible case instead of ruling out the simple causes so you are willing to spend whatever it takes to save your pet." The reviewer detailed a case of a misdiagnosed eye infection that they believe led to the pet's death, stating, "He purposely let our little dachshund suffer for weeks and die." Another review mentioned a misdiagnosis of a "neurological disorder" in a yellow lab, which was later found to be Lyme disease. This same reviewer later updated their post to say that the dog lived for more than seven years after the initial misdiagnosis. These varied perspectives highlight that while some clients have had positive, life-saving experiences, others have encountered situations that they found deeply concerning and emotionally difficult.
