★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Island Veterinary HospitalAt first entrance with my cat about 12 years ago, Dr. Balbour flat out told me she had cancer and was going to die in 3 months. I panicked and asked if she could get an x-ray. Turns out she did NOT have cancer at all. 12 years later…Fast-forward to a month ago when my Pebbles was running out of insulin… I tried to set up an appointment so I could get more. This Vet made it extremely difficult. I am handicap and always have someone bring my cats to the vet. That person works and has always dropped her off. Then Dr. Balbour decided that she wasn’t allowing any more drop-offs. I had a difficult time trying to figure out what to do.So she asks me about where I’m getting the prescription for the insulin needles. I told her I have the needles delivered every month from Amazon. She called me a liar and said you can’t get the needles without a prescription. See the Amazon picture below. She decided she didn’t want to help me anymore and flat out dumped me from her practice without providing the insulin prescription my diabetic cat at this point desperately needed—or giving a damn what would happen to her without it.Long story short I wasn’t able to get an appointment with another vet until the day that Pebbles actually died. I then was looking for her all day to bring her, but she was hidden. Unbeknownst to me she was dying and didn’t make it to the other vet. That night she massively convulsed, went into major tachycardia and was in so much pain. Seeing her like this was so saddening. Then she died. See picture below. Why this matters so so much: my husband died last year and my three cats were my everything keeping me company until all three of them died in the last couple of months. No thanks to Dr. Balbour. I would not recommend anyone going to this vet EVER!!! Not if you give a damn about your pets!!!
July 05 · Evelyn SalvadorGreat experience bring my NY Bully Crew foster pup #RockStarCameron for his post op follow up ! They love him so much !!! Hrs doing great, heading towards his target weight and blood numbers perfect !!
November 25 · Lisa WalkerDr. Balboura and staff are top notch. My Teddy had to have emergency surgery due to stones and they kept us updated at every step from after surgery to recovery. Their staff is super sweet and caring. This will be our only Veterinary. Thank you for taking care of our baby 🐶
February 15 · Tammy RThey’re really fantastic. They take great care of my dog and I always trust them. Except for how they can’t hold an appointment. Expect to wait for over an hour past the time you have to show up. My dog gets scared at the vet, so she has to sit there terrified. And don’t try to make any afternoon plans.
December 09 · Rich WoodsDr.Balbour is extremely knowledgeable and its obvious how much she truly cares about animals. In the past i had lost one of my dogs at only 6 years old due to a bladder infection that a simple urine test could of detected and could of been treated. We changed vets and the next vet wouldnt even look at an animal without being paid up front and always cost over $1000 everytime and we ended up losing another dog at 6 to diabetes and we did everything right. We would of paid any amount necessary to help all of our animals and that we did. So choosing to trust another vet was very hard. And ever since we started using Dr. Balbour at Island Vet Hospital we have been very pleased and would recommend her and choose her over and over again. My dog now has been seeing her since she was a pup and is very healthy and has never had any health problems whatsoever! We are extremely greatful for her and her team and we couldnt be any more pleased!!!!!
