★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Went here for a behaviour assessment and could not have been happier with the whole experience! Two doctors were present for the full hour to assess our situation and pet. The detail and attention they paid to us, our dog, and our situation was very reassuring. We got 10+ pages of material to read the next day going over our meeting minutes as well as many links and tips. It was a ruff (sorry) meeting, but we feel more confident and capable and have a better idea of what our dog is telling us. The most important thing to us was to get true, vetted (sorry again) advice on how he was acting. Through demonstrations and our handy resources provided, we feel very hopeful we can all live together happily! There is also more follow-up support through email for four months included in the appointment price for all things we missed. Super happy we made the appointment! If you're considering spending $5,000 to send your dog away for a week to help them or going for a $500 appointment where YOU get to learn how to be with your pet, please do as we did and come here!
September 05 · Sarah KentonHad a wonderful experience at Angell-West with Dr. Staudenmaier and her team. They were able to fit my ferret Kronk in for an urgent exam, were very thorough in explaining our options and helped provide him with the best care over the last few months of his life. We are very thankful for their expertise and are grateful to have them as a resource for our other ferrets. Thank you for helping us with the bestest noodle.
September 13 · Rebecca WellerThe staff was friendly and helpful. The people who took care of my animal were extremely knowledgeable; I immediately knew my snake was in good hands. The technician who taught me how to treat my animal (orally and intra-muscularly) was an incredible teacher and gave me all the tools I needed to treat my snake at home. I have to drive an hour to get there from my house, but it is well worth it. I appreciate how the veterinarian followed up with me and continued to answer my questions many days after my last visit. What I appreciated most about Angell is how helpful everybody was.
September 04 · Elyse FontaineWe had a budgie that had been vomiting, was lethargic and unable to regulate its body temperature over the course of several days. After exhausting all options in the area which we live which is a rural area in Vermont, we decided to drive 3 hours south to go to this emergency vet as it was the only option that took exotic pets/birds. Upon entry into the building we were asked to pay a $238 fee just to have our budgie seen, which we did. After which staff came and took our budgie into the other room. After waiting well over an hour, the technician came out to discuss our budgies issues with us. After discussing and getting his history they went back in and consulted with a vet, who we never met in the entire experience. We were given options for his treatment after another short wait, they were very quick to suggest certain things more so than others possibly due to the price increase of said things. We preferred to not get a vent swab as that had cause severe trauma to our budgie during a previous visit elsewhere. After deciding on less invasive procedures to test him for his various ailments, they proceeded to do the procedures involving a crop swab and taking a feather pluck and blood. During the process of taking the blood, it was told to us after they came to get us that there was an emergency situation that our budgie had stopped breathing because of the extreme stress of the situation. After asking if they wanted us to continue with the CPR for the next 15 minutes to try to save him, we said yes. It was after this 15 minute time window that they came back and told us that our budgie had died. They allowed us time to mourn and asked us if we wanted a cremation service for our child to which we declined. They brought our budgie back in and we had time to grieve. After this grieving process of about 15 minutes we found that no one came back in the check on us or to check us out of the building, after being told that they would do so. We waited outside the room with our budgie in a little box awkwardly waiting for the better part of 20 to 30 minutes to sit with somebody to check out and to get our carrier back that we had brought him in with. We eventually had to flag down a worker to get a front office staff. As we were doing this and we're checking out we were told that the amount was upwards of $428, part for a consult for $118 with a vet who is apparently exotic pet trained yet we never saw nor spoke with, and a $300 bill to do 15 minutes worth of cpr. To say that we felt their service was unsatisfactory would be a vast understatement. I can understand being woefully understaffed, but the lack of empathy shown and the cursory way we were ushered out after our pet died is unacceptable. I am also sure as waiting to check out of service was very uncomfortable for the rest of the clientele in the waiting room for over a half hour with our dead budgie boxed up in our arms and all we wanted to do was take him home.So to sum up, not a sterling review, because our budgie was not treated as a valued member of our family, but as a number, a financial commodity. Needless to say, if you care about your pets, please do your research and go elsewhere.
August 17 · KGreat first communications through email and phone (easy and informative). Not too long a wait to schedule a visit with an Avian specialist, and the doc and support staff were compassionate, informative and supportive. I was given a lot of information to think over and did not feel rushed or pressured in the least. My only feedback would be to have a separate waiting area (or at least a bit segregated) for birds, as it was stressful for a goose (and owner) to be crammed into the waiting area with so many large dogs. Overall, superb experience!
