Tufts Veterinary Emergency Treatment & Specialties Introduce
When your beloved pet is facing a serious health crisis, you need more than just a regular vet; you need an entire team of dedicated specialists ready to provide advanced, life-saving care. For pet owners in Massachusetts and throughout New England, Tufts Veterinary Emergency Treatment & Specialties (Tufts VETS) in Walpole is a name synonymous with expertise, compassion, and hope. As a premier veterinary emergency and specialty hospital, Tufts VETS is uniquely positioned to handle complex medical issues, from sudden emergencies to long-term health challenges. This article will provide an in-depth look at what makes this facility a top-tier choice for critical and specialty pet care.
Tufts VETS operates around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring that expert care is always available when you need it most. They are not a general practice clinic for routine checkups and vaccinations, but rather a specialized facility that works closely with your primary veterinarian. This collaborative model ensures that your pet receives seamless care, with your regular vet handling routine health, while Tufts VETS provides advanced diagnostics and treatment for more serious conditions. This focus allows them to dedicate all their resources and expertise to critical and specialty care, a mission that has earned them the trust of pet owners and referring veterinarians alike.
The hospital’s reputation is built on countless stories of pets whose lives were saved and families who were given a second chance at happiness. The testimonials from clients, like the family who brought in their dog, Yoshi, after a severe health episode, speak volumes. They highlight not just the medical success—saving Yoshi's life after multiple transfusions—but also the deep compassion and professionalism of the staff. The dedication of veterinarians like Dr. Hammond and the entire team proves that they treat every pet like family, providing comfort and support during the most difficult times.
In addition to their life-saving work, the staff at Tufts VETS also demonstrates incredible kindness in moments of loss. The story of Ron and Alison, who were treated with dignity and respect after their dog, Gabby, passed away, illustrates the clinic’s holistic approach to care. They understand that a pet’s health journey can have a profound emotional impact on their owners, and they go out of their way to provide support, even after a pet has passed. This level of empathy is a rare and invaluable quality in a veterinary service.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Our little dog passed away over night a few days ago. My wife and I brought her here still holding out some hope but she was gone. The people there were so nice and treated our little girl with such dignity and respect. My wife called several days later we had left blanket we brought her in and was just hoping they had to help with grieving. They went out of their way and found it. If I could give them more than five stars I would. In a difficult time for us they showed compassion I want to say thank you we loved our Gabby very muchRon and Alison
August 09 · Ron PicardWe’ve been bringing our dog Yoshi to Tufts Vet for some time now, and I truly can’t say enough good things about the care we’ve received. Yoshi is a sensitive little guy with some serious health challenges, and we almost lost him when his IMHA caused an anemic episode and severe GI bleeding. He had two separate week long stays with several blood transfusions. Thanks to the incredible care he received here, they saved his life. Yoshi continues to receive follow-up care here until he weens off of his medication.Dr. Hammond has been especially wonderful throughout this entire journey. Her expertise, compassion, and dedication have made all the difference. She takes the time to explain everything clearly and always make us feel like Yoshi is in the best possible hands. We will always be grateful for her commitment to helping Yoshi pull through. The entire team has shown us so much kindness and professionalism. They treat Yoshi like family and have supported us every step of the way. We’ve never felt rushed or overlooked, and that level of care is special. We’re so grateful to have found this hospital. They gave Yoshi a second chance, and we can’t recommend them highly enough to anyone in need of emergency veterinary care.❤️
August 05 · Meera VillanuevaThis past Sunday on August 10th we brought in our Nicholas who has having difficulty breathing and he was immediately taken back to be examined and receive emergency care. Unfortunately, he was found to be in congestive heart failure and we made the hard decision to let him pass peacefully and comfortably. The vet overseeing his case was very professional, efficient and thorough when explaining to us our options and his likely outcome, all while showing constant care and compassion. We miss our Nicholas dearly, but are thankful to all the staff here who made sure he was comfortable when he passed.
August 12 · Sara FitzhughThis is an emergency vet so there's an expectation of having to wait for a long time. I do wish they would communicate expected wait times more. I brought my pup in on a Sunday morning, waiting room was empty but there were a lot of patients waiting in rooms to be seen. We were seen by a nurse then left in our room for about 1.5 - 2 hours, until I called reception to get an update. After being seen by the doctor we waited for another hour or so for her meds. I appreciate that they are open 24/7 but it can be tough to wait without having any idea of how long it may take.
July 31 · Serena BI wanted to share my experience as I couldn’t be more thankful. Brought our bengal to Tufts as a referral for potential surgery to remove a foreign body in the intestines. The customer service we experienced from just walking in the door was incredible. Very kind. Understanding. Helpful. Our cat was hospitalized for 2 nights. We received updates and pictures and got to visit. The medical receptionists, nurses and doctors are in the right field of work. She’s back to loud vocal self. Traveler says thank you ❤️
