Located in the vibrant Queen Village section of Philadelphia, ham + bone is a specialty pet retail and grooming boutique that serves the Pennsylvania community with a commitment to natural nutrition and a positive, stress-free experience for pets. As an independent, small business that proudly identifies as both Asian-owned and women-owned, ham + bone has carved out a unique niche since expanding its operations to 715 E Passyunk Ave. This carefully curated shop is the inspiration of its owner, who was motivated by a deep passion for animals and a desire to provide the best for pets in the neighborhood.
The store focuses on a highly selective inventory, ensuring that Philadelphia pet owners can find the absolute best options for their companions, including natural nutrition choices, novelty treats, and stylish accessories. Patrons consistently praise the wide variety of healthy treats available, often including refrigerated food options, decorative cookies, and custom cupcakes at the counter—perfect for celebrating a pet’s special occasion. While renowned for its comprehensive grooming services for both dogs and cats, the retail side of ham + bone offers essential, high-quality supplies for everyday pet care. The core mission remains providing a simple, clean, and dedicated approach to enhancing the health and happiness of the animals it serves.

Choosing ham + bone Queen Village is choosing a highly dedicated, specialty experience over a generalized retail transaction. For Pennsylvania residents who prioritize their pet's diet, well-being, and support for independent businesses, ham + bone offers a clear value proposition.
Firstly, the boutique's focus on high-quality, natural nutrition is a major draw. Pet owners seeking specialized foods—especially the protein-heavy, freeze-dried, and frozen options that are difficult to find at larger stores—will find a carefully curated inventory here. The delightful, healthy treats, like the decorative cookies and cupcakes, transform routine purchases into a special experience for both the owner and the pet, showing a commitment to celebrating the pet-owner bond.
Secondly, the identity of the business as an Asian-owned and women-owned small business resonates with customers who value supporting diverse, local entrepreneurship in Philadelphia. This independent spirit often translates directly into a more personal and caring customer service experience, which is a hallmark of neighborhood shops.
While the grooming service has a stated goal of being pleasant and stress-free for all pets, potential customers should note that like any service, experiences can vary, and a single report of an adverse incident exists. This underscores the need for open communication with the staff regarding a pet's specific sensitivities or past grooming issues. However, the store's dedication to convenience through curbside pickup, its accessible location, and its specialization in high-end, nutritious food and stylish supplies collectively make ham + bone Queen Village a deserving choice for discerning pet owners in the 19147 area looking for a premium retail and grooming destination that values quality and community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My dog got eye ulcers from shampoo getting in her eyes from this place. We took her to the vet after noticing it immediately after picking her up from the grooming appointment. She was still in great pain and squinting for a week. The vet confirmed it was from the grooming. After contacting the owner, she emailed us that she will call to discuss and passed it off to a manager who was only authorized to offer us a free grooming. Who would take their dog back after this happening? They ignored the reply with our decision to not take a free grooming and instead request (again) to pay vet bills. Never again. I highly suggest staying away if you love your pet. Not only were they careless with my dog's wellbeing, but they obviously didn't care enough to remedy the situation.
June 17 · Joshua NovotneyStopped in to get an assortment of cat and dog treats. They have a wide variety of healthy treats at reasonable prices. They also have a refrigerated case of pet food options. It's a woman-owned local business and they also do grooming. Loved the display of dog cookies and cupcakes at the counter.
March 08 · Barb Hauck-Mah (barbhmphilly)I had my stubborn, whiny, cry baby akita groomed here professionally for the first time. The groomer was extremely patient with him and did a great job! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The store was well stocked with high quality food/treats and accessories. I highly recommend Ham+Bone for all of your dog/cat needs.
November 13 · Hana ChongEmily gave our Wheaten Terrier a fantastic groom. She got all the mats out of her fur, cut her evenly, and left her tail and beard long like we asked. Honestly one of the best grooms we've had in Philly.
August 31 · Steven BattleThis cozy woman-owned neighborhood pet shop has everything you would ever want or need. It is incredibly curated including but not limited to, pet supplements, shampoos, cleaners, cat/dog food (from kibble to raw), toys, clothing, leashes/collars/harnesses, and even ice cream. Not to mention some of the most talented groomers. There are always new and fun items when we go. My dogs love it here, their favorite thing is the treat bar, which offers a big selection of treats you can hand-select and make your own yummy treat bag!
