In Downey, Firestone Animal Hospital has built a reputation as just such a place. This is a full-service animal hospital that has been serving the community for over 50 years, since its establishment in 1955. It is a clinic that is not only a part of the local landscape but also identifies as Latino-owned and women-owned, reflecting the diverse community it serves.
Firestone Animal Hospital stands out for its comprehensive approach to veterinary medicine. They are equipped to handle a wide spectrum of needs, from routine puppy and kitten care to complex surgical procedures and pet urgent care. This versatility means that pet owners can rely on one trusted team for their pet's entire life journey. The hospital’s commitment to providing a different kind of experience is a key part of its appeal. As one customer noted, they offer a stark contrast to clinics where pet owners are separated from their animals, ensuring you can be present to comfort your anxious pet. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1It was the first time that I brought my senior dog there for a medical consultation. This hospital has x-ray and ultrasound which my dog needed. The care that they gave to my dog was very personal. The veterinarians were very thorough. We found out that my dog has a tumor that already metastasized. Coffee and I really appreciate your care and compassion.
July 15 · Ismael ElliottBrought my dog Mickey in after 10+ years of going to a different vet who doesn’t allow you in the exam room and we feel we are always getting overcharged for any little thing. Totally different experience here. My dog was sick…vomiting and not eating so we took him to his regular vet but we were not happy with the treatment he got. We decided to come here and felt so much better. We were given a different treatment plan and in a few days my dog started getting better. He had his follow up appointment two weeks later and he was doing so much better. Granted, I forgot to let the vet know that my dog ended up pooping out a piece of bark from my parents avocado tree. So we think that may have been lodged somewhere in his stomach or throat??? But after that came out he was so much better lol! We got his booster shots and will be coming here from now on. My dog is super anxious and sometimes gets mild seizures at the vet (because we are not with him) so the two times I brought him in, I was holding him and he felt so much safer that I was there with him. Thank you to everyone here! We’ll be making another appointment soon for my other dog.
May 02 · Emily Villa (Sibrian)BEWARE !!! This place was my LAST option due to not being able to get a same day appointment nowhere else. My female cat had a recurring UTI and was feeling miserable Saturday and Sunday we waited until Monday to take her to Grace Vet on Lakewood turned out Dr. Was out of town and they had nowalk-ins. Long story short we ended up here. Dr Rocha is a piece of work. I was explaining to him what my previous Dr at AM PM Norwalk said about her treatment and he straight out said I don’t want to hear anything. He was the rudest Dr I’ve ever met. No manners whatsoever. Didn’t introduce himself and just walked out. Overpriced and everyone looked like they hated working there. Everyone spoke mostly Spanish. I needed to use the restroom Dr. Wife said no it’s out of order (not true) go to Albertsons she said. I was like wow no wonder Dr is a bitter man. The only thing I’m grateful for is that he gave my cat an anti-inflammatory shot and new antibiotics. She is doing so much better. Oh I forgot he yelled at me because I was feeding her Blue Buffalo kibble and giving her treats. I was really desperate to treat my cat so I didn’t see all the red flags
July 02 · MariaTook my moms dog here for a orthopedic surgery. Honestly I can’t say how much I would recommend Dr.Rocha to anybody for any orthopedic surgery or for any issues with your pets. They treated my mom’s dog really good and they all had good customer service. I can’t thank them enough for what they did to my mom’s dog. She is up and running like nothing happen. It’s only been 3 months and they still reach out to me and ask about how my mom’s dog is doing. Recommend 100 percent
October 01 · arturo alfaroI do not recommend coming here all they do is try to sell products, bill you for extra stuff, and front desk lady with long hair is rude and looks like she hates being there. We met another lady she was nice she scheduled us for an appointment at 7:30 on a Saturday on the way to my dogs appointment we call because theres a Little bit of traffic and we were gonna be like 5 minutes late. We call and they tell us her appointment was at 6 which was not true I have a paper at home that says 7:30 as well as a confirmation email when mentioned to the lady I was just given attitude I honestly wouldn't have come back if I didnt do the puppy program for shots not to mention the doctor is rude ans talked down to me one of my last visits overall this place is miserable and upsets so many things especially science hill food now every other brand is terrible. Overall wouldn't recommend its not even that affordable best bet is to call around. They can't even get my dogs gender right do better if you dont wanna work there dont its not my fault ur miserable.
