I made a rookie mistake bringing a bouquet of flowers inside Friday night. To my horror, my precious Scout was on top of my kitchen counter, merrily munching on the tip of a lily. A quick google search and I was rife with shock and dismay. I quickly called Blue Pearl who advised me to call ASPCA poison control. I did as much, and scurried over. Despite being told by poison control that time was of the essence, Blue Pearl was lackadaisical to say the least. While in their room for over 40 minutes, I called IAC who happily took my poison control number and told me to come in promptly. Here, they treated me with the urgency I really needed after realizing how toxic lily flowers are to cats. They had called poison control and were consulting for treatment within 5 minutes of my arrival. I had a great experience overall, even with the stress. The overnight Dr. was amazing in his explanation of best course of action for Scout and I chose to have him hospitalized him for 48 hours. I have Scout with me again now that his kidney levels have leveled off after a spike overnight and will be re-testing him after 24 hours as suggested. Thank you IAC Urgent Vets for your help during such a stressful time. - Emily Paige
